Today was a rough one...the roughest since Hannah passed almost two years back. 19 years ago, Stacy Regele gave me Fluffy and Hannah for my 30th birthday. They were originally named the Fluffy One and the Other One and Fluffy just stuck. And today, I had to say goodbye to Fluffy, just a day after he turned 19. Over the years he had a series of health issues come and go, but we always managed to bounce back and persevere. What happened today wasnt unexpected but it doesnt make it any easier. For almost two decades Fluffy was a constant companion for me, helping me through some rough times, including the passing of his sister. He could be ridiculous sometimes, terrified of the smallest things possible. But he was also a great comforter and almost instinctively knew when to come up and demand attention, because he sensed I needed it more than he did. Over the years, his silliness brought about a number of nicknames: Lord Flufferton, Flufferton J. Cat, Nancy Boy, Tocadiscos, The Boy, Your Eminence. But he was always ultimately Fluffy, the sweetest, most loving guy you could ever ask for. And Im going to miss the hell out of him. Its odd...not to discount anyones tragedies, but the need to stay-at-home during this time let me spend a lot more time with him than I otherwise might have. His vet had anticipated him being gone by end of February but I got an extra two-plus months of solid, constant, genuine quality time with him. And I consider that the best possible silver lining to all of this. Goodnight Fluffy, my sweetest guy, my closest confidant, my son. Ill love you and miss you always. - @brian_m_joines on Instagram
