LONG POST❣️❣️ I remember taking this picture. The exact time, place (my old apartment in DC) my headspace, where I was going... I remember so vividly!! It was the first time I looked at my progress and felt so good about where I was headed. 2012 I made my mind up to start my weight loss journey. I made my mind up and was determined to do it. I literally danced my Weight away. And the excess weight I carried in my mind too. I Changed my eating habits, became a Zumba instructor, I was singing with a GoGo band (Lissen) and danced all night long on stage! Woke up jamming to music... Walked and jogged to music!🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣Growing up in the city with Country culture; living right next door to my Grandparents and my other set of Grandparents right around the corner We Were Fed Good!!! I mean Good ok!!! Y’all know black folks; our culture We Cook For any and every occasion... It doesn’t even have to be anything special, Good food was a prerequisite for the day!!!! And I looooooove it!! A little too much at the time. Food and Depression wasn’t a great combo!! However, I gravitated towards it for comfort!! Chilllleee, I had to let that go and some other things too. Glad I did... Although my weight goes up and down I’m mindful! It’s the natural hair and clavicle for me. #FunFact: I’ve worn protective styles for most of my life (relaxers + weaves, braids, crochet, etc.). I went natural I think 6 years ago, but never wore my natural hair out because I have really thick hair that’s hard to manage and I’m lazy, plus the look took some getting used to. I wasn’t ready to see myself sans enhancements. I started wearing my fro occasionally in 2017. Fast forward to 2020, I’ll get cute, wear my fro and go, though wigs and protective styles are still my go-to’s (becauseI can’t do a twist out to save my life).
