Bagaimana Air Harus Tetap Mengalir di Musim Kemarau Kecamatan Donorojo, hingga kini dikelilingi hamparan bukit-bukit sisa pelarutan karena wilayahnya berada dalam Kawasan Karst Gunung Sewu yang mempunyai tipe perkembangan sempurna (Holokarst). Warisan ini merupakan berkah tersendiri bagi masyarakat, meski harus diakui pada musim kemarau wilayah tersebut dari zaman dahulu kala hampir pasti terjadi kekeringan, bahkan tingkat kritis. Tak pelak para petani saat ini harus menanggung rugi karena tanaman mereka diserang Puso. Sementara pemerintah mengucurkan bantuan beras ketahanan pangan demi mendukung kebutuhan sehari-hari petani, jumlah yang dikucurkan di Desa Gedompol sebanyak 1 Ton berkualitas super, ini bersumber dari Dinas Pangan Pacitan. Disamping itu pemerintah juga berupaya menguatkan masyarakat melalui pembangunan sumur bor, sumber baru ini berada di Desa Belah. Beruntung 20 meter bumi di bor, air sudah mengalir deras. Bupati Pacitan Indartato berharap mata air baru ini menjadi solusi tidak hanya untuk kebutuhan sehari-hari, namun juga sebagai pendukung pertanian warga sekitar. “Saya berharap masyarakat benar-benar merawat sumber baru ini,” kata Dia saat Kunker di Wilayah Donorojo (30/09). Kembali ke Desa Gedompol, sembari mencari solusi kemandirian untuk kebutuhan air, Bupati pada kesempatan yang sama menyalurkan 19 Ribu Liter air bersih kepada masyarakat Dusun Pudak. 300 KK warga di dusun tersebut menyambutnya dengan suka cita yang tampak pada sorot mata mereka. Diantara kawasan Karst yang eksotis di Donorojo, Bumi Wayang Beber juga lestari bersama warga masyarakatnya yang santun. Upaya perhatian pun diberikan. Seperti pada tahun 2018, pemda mendukung warisan tersebut dengan menggelontorkan dana sebesar Rp. 50 Juta. Dirasa belum cukup, kembali pemda menyerahkan anggaran pada tahun 2019 sebesar Rp. 100 Juta melalui Dinas Pendidikan Pacitan. This remarkable coffee beans hairstyle is common amongst the Karo tribe. Somewhere in the Horn of Africa, there are ethnic tribes whose exotic traditions and way of life remain untouched by the modern world. The Lower Omo Valley in southern Ethiopia is home to over a dozen different tribes, who have lived there for centuries. Forming part of the estimated 200 000 indigenous peoples inhabiting the area are the Karo, who have a population of about 1000 to 2000, making them the smallest ethnic tribe in Ethiopia, probably in the continent as a whole. A deadly scourge of sleeping sickness is reported to have reduced their population at the end of the nineteenth century. The Karo dwell along the banks of the Omo River (according to oral tradition, they settled at the Omo after following a red bull there almost two centuries ago) and largely rely on the river’s annual flood for sustenance – much like the ancient Egyptians who lived along the Nile thousands of years ago. The Karo predominantly practice flood retreat cultivation, growing sorghum, maize, and beans. They also fish and breed cattle and goats. Surrounded by more powerful and wealthier tribes, they created a complex social hierarchy to thwart intermarriage and keep their lineages pure. Their neighbours include the Hamar, Bana, Bashada, Nyangatom, and Mursi. The groups have always traded amongst each other for cloth, beads, cattle, and food. The Karo are closely related to the Harmar tribe, who speak virtually identical Omotic languages. These two tribes are of the same ancestry and some of their cultural practices allude to a rich cultural history together. The Karo are undeniably artistic by nature. Among other things, they are known for their alluring and intricate body and face painting. They decorate their bodies with locally found white chalk, yellow mineral rock, iron ore and charcoal. This is an elaborate process with designs ranging from simple and fine dots to rough but remarkable lines traced with palms or fingers. Assalamualikum @akuanaksgm kenalkan jagoan kecil saya namanya Raditya usianya 5,3 tahun. Dan sudah masuk sekolah TK, namun semua tugas sekolah masih dikerjakan semua di rumah, sambil menanti pandemi virus Corona berlalu. Sekarang Raditya sudah makin aktif dalam beraktifitas. Termasuk aktifitas harian yang setiap hari saya kerjakan, hampir semuanya di pelajari untuk kemudian dipraktekan. Salah satunya ketika saya mebuat kue-kue cemilan kesukaannya, Raditya pun sangat antusias membantu hingga bisa melakukannya sendiri. Dan hari ini Raditya mau nge Vlog tentang kegiatannya membuat Kue Kacang favoritnya. Seru sekali, dengan penuh semangat dan ketelatenannya akhirnya Kue Kacang favoritnya matang dan bisa dicicipi. Tentunya semua dalam pengawasan saya terutama ketika memasukkan dalam Oven. Namun kecekatannya membuat saya tidak perlu khawatir, semua sudah terbiasa dia lakukan. Dari kegiatan diatas bisa saya simpulkan bahwa Raditya Anak yang sangat Percaya diri. Dia bisa melakukan semuanya dengan senang hati tanpa mengeluh. Walaupun terkadang masih ada kesalahan namun itu akan menjadikan pelajaran agar bisa melakukannya lebih baik lagi. Raditya juga menjadi anak yang Mandiri, tidak manja, selama dia bisa melakukannya sendiri dia akan lakukan semaksimal mungkin. Tidak mudah mengeluh dan berputua asa. Raditya menjadi anak yang Berfikir Kreatif. Seperti dalam video diatas dia bisa berkreasi dalam membentuk kue Kue kacangnya. Kreatif dalam menatanya dalam loyang. Kemudian mengovennya. Dan untuk mendukung tumbuh kembang Raditya, saya sebagai orang tua selalu memberinya asupan gizi dalam menu masakan yang dia konsumsi sehari hari. Dan juga saya selalu memberikan nutrisi harian tambahan yaitu susu SGM Eksplor 5+ Complinutri madu dan vanila setiap hari sebanyak 2 gelas. La céramique a souvent tendance à être émaillée mais pas toujours, au Sénégal par exemple et en Afrique de lOuest en général, les céramiques ne sont pas émaillées mais différentes techniques de cuisson et manières de les décorer ont été développées. Lune des raisons pour lesquelles jai souhaité travailler avec un céramiste du Fayoum était dapprendre leur technique d’émaillage locale. L’émail rend la céramique vitrifiée, imperméable et permet de produire une plus grande diversité d’objets. Le résultat de ce projet d’échange étant à long terme, d’implanter cette technique d’émaillage au Ban Workshop. Bientôt 🔥 bientôt ! Opening the kiln is definitely one of the most exciting moment for ceramicists 🔥. Often ceramics tend to be glazed but not always. In Senegal for example and West Africa in general, ceramics are unglazed but we have developed various firing techniques and different ways to decorate them. One of the reason I wanted to work with a ceramicist from Fayoum was to learn their local glazing technique. Glaze renders the ceramics vitrified and waterproof and enable to diversify the production of ceramic. The outcome of this longterm exchange project is to implement their glazing technique at the Ban Workshop. Roatán is a beautiful island located in the Bay Islands of Honduras. Ecotourism has been an important source of income for islanders on this small but vibrant island. Coxen Hole is the largest city in Roatán. Roatán has drawn in travelers from across the globe with its mountainous inner region and miles of sandy white beaches on its shores. Even more beautiful then it’s stunning views are the beautiful faces of the children of Coxen Hole. This year with the pandemic tourism has ceased and there is no money coming into the island. This of course has created a financial burden for many islanders. #GlobalGirlLife Foundation is raising money to help our friend Estrellita Connor who has been taking care of many of the children in her neighborhood of Coxen Hole and MudHole. #GlobalGirlLife Foundation is raising money to help with the task of nourishing these children so that when school starts they are there to receive the education needed to grow into strong self actualized individuals who will be directly impacted by the love and generosity of a global community. But those hardest hit are communities that are already living on the boundaries of society, struggling day-to-day just to survive. #wfh and social distancing are concepts for the privileged. —— “The LGBTQ community is likely to get disproportionately impacted” says Tinesh Chopade, Advocacy Manager at Humsafar Trust, India’s first #LGBTQ organization. “There are many within the community who are suffering from extreme hunger and deprivation, particularly those whose only source of income is begging and sex work” Tinesh says. Meanwhile, those living with HIV are likely to be more at risk of life-threatening complications. The hijra community - defined as transgender and/or intersex – is already largely discriminated against, often sharing small spaces, with poor access to clean drinking water and sanitation facilities. Hey Stripp’d friends old and new, Been a pretty crazy week given this past Tuesday’s email to us and several other black-owned businesses in our area. So here’s my extended take on all things related and moving forward: There’s a lot of people who know me and my personal stance on these types of issues, but if you’re new here, hopefully this gives you some insight on how I internalize things. At first glance, I didn’t want to give this racist email any energy. The person’s sole purpose was to garner attention, and if you really wanted smoke, you would have acted in real life not via email. The next morning, once it was shared by another business, I had no choice but to acknowledge it. Now that I have, I can admit my initial reaction was a selfish one — we’ve received so much positivity from near and far, and from our regular customers to those who are strangers to us. This email has shown people that hate is alive, well and would have otherwise been hidden; but the support has been nothing short of amazing and the love is truly felt. What I want to share is this: support us not only because we are a black-owned business, who faces unforeseen obstacles (like this one)…but because we are Philly’s first cold-pressed juice company; because we NEVER sacrifice quality (all the way down to making our own peanut butter and almond milk); because we are a family-owned business; because health and wellness is super important and needs to be included into everyone’s lifestyle, and because we listen to YOU! Not often do I use our instagram from my personal voice (because I’m an erratic crazy mfer and my personal instagram will tell you that), but today I woke up and felt the love needed to be poured out. Amidst the violence that is gripping Nigeria, the country’s Christians are being targeted by the terrorist group Boko Haram while the rest of the world is largely ignoring the issue. Christians are being singled out for elimination by Boko Haram and Fulani tribesmen. So far in 2020, approximately 1,200 have been killed. In the last five years, the number has reached over 12,000. Last month, five international aid workers were killed by terrorists from the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP), more commonly known as Boko Haram. A video of the killings was released by the Islamist group as a warning to “all those being used by infidels to convert Muslims to Christianity.” While the world has been aware of these atrocities, not much has been done about it. Back in 2010, the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court opened an investigation into the situation in Nigeria. The brilliant Nigerian potter Ladi Kwali (c.1925 - 1984) working in her studio: undated photograph. (If you know who shot it, do let me know.) For the latest episode of Bow Down, I absolutely loved talking with the renowned Kenyan / British ceramic artist Magdalene Odundo about her admiration for Ladi Kwali, who taught her in the early 1970s at the Pottery Training Centre that was established by Michael Cardew in Abuja in the 1950s. Ladi Kwali’s portrait now adorns the Nigerian 20 Naira bill - she was the first woman artist to be featured on currency in Africa. Magdalene explains that even now, after almost 50 years, she feels that Ladi Kwali is looking over her shoulder when she’s creating her ceramics. Despite the fact that they spoke different languages - Ladi Kwali spoke Hausa, and Magdalene Swahili and English - they had a productive relationship that revolved around demonstration, laughter and occasionally dancing with joy if a pot was particularly successful.
