Você já parou para pensar na força que a mídia tem para manipular a sociedade? ⁣ ⁣ Mulheres ImPerfeitas, de Carina Chocano, @editoracultrix ⁣ Por anos Carina Chocano trabalhou como crítica de cinema, e foi assim que ela começou a refletir sobre como a mídia manipula todos para terem uma visão misogina e machista sobre as mulheres. E isso é algo muito mais antigo do que imaginamos. A forma como a autora colocou o assunto é muito interessante, pois ela cita inúmeros filmes, séries e programas de tv desde os tempos antigos até hoje e abre nossos olhos de uma forma surpreendente para quanto somos manipulados. A mídia desde sempre passou uma imagem errada sobre as mulheres, isso causou e causa rivalidade feminina e impulsiona o patriarcado cada vez mais. Nas mídias antigas o olhar patriarcal para com as mulheres era muito mais claro, e nos tempos atuais somos manipulados para acreditar que a igualdade de gêneros já existe ou está perto de existir, mas no fundo continua sendo uma manipulação para nos cegar. Enquanto mulheres somos objetificadas, inferiorizadas, sexualizadas, exploradas, invisibilizadas e silenciadas, sempre foi assim. Ao começar a leitura a sensação é de que não será um assunto tão profundo, mas no final só senti que precisava ter lido um conteúdo assim antes, a forma como vemos a mídia sem dúvidas muda drasticamente depois de ler tudo isso. A visão que a autora traz é ampla, não falando apenas da opressão em relação a beleza, mas também dentro do meio profissional, sobre a escolha de ter filhos e tudo que envolve as mulheres. E a imersão na leitura ficou mais completa assistindo a alguns filmes e séries que a autora citou. Alguns são bem conhecidos e é impactante ter esse novo olhar das obras. Sem dúvida uma das leituras mais intensas e reveladoras que já li.⁣ ⁣ Às vezes, parece que a mídia existe quase que exclusivamente para estabelecer padrões impossíveis, e em seguida humilhar as pessoas que não dão tudo de si para atingi-los. É, afinal, a maior máquina de criação de mitos que o mundo já conheceu. ⁣ ⁣ Já tinha pensando sobre como a midia sempre afetou a forma como as mulheres são vistas? Essa semana vencemos mais uma etapa. Minha bebezinha está virando uma mocinha!!! Terça-feira a Rafa pediu para dormir sem fralda, sim ela ainda dormia de fralda. A fralda do dia tiramos no ano passado, sem pressão para evitar traumas e deu certo. Aí eu como mãe estava aguardando o momento da fralda da noite tbm ir embora e esse momento chegou. Terça ela falou “mamãe, quero dormir sem fralda.” Eu falei “ não tem problema, vc só precisa lembrar de fazer xixi no banheiro” e assim foi.... terça ok, quarta ok, quinta ok, sexta escapou e tudo bem... estamos em treinamento e com grande sucesso. Kolekcjonuję figurki funko POP!, kocham filmy Disneya (zwłaszcza Coco!) i Harrego Pottera. Ostatnio popadłam w kolejny nałóg - rośliny, kupuję ich dużo i uwielbiam się nimi zajmować, chociaż dopiero raczkuję w tym temacie. Jestem typową jesieniarą - wieczór z kubkiem gorącej herbaty i książką lub serialem, to dla mnie wieczór idealny. Boję się pająków i lubię porządek 🙌🏽 Na koniec najważniejsze... Kocham książki. Kocham je czytać, wąchać, dotykać, oglądać, podziwiać! 📚 Moim ulubionymi gatunkami są kryminały i thrillery, ale uwielbiam też literaturę popularnonaukową. Why did I study for all those years to become a Registered Mental Health Nurse, only to pack it in the same year I graduated? I’ve been asked this a few times lately. It seems nonsensical, right? Why go to all this trouble of studying for 4 + years, racking up 60k + in uni fees only to pack it all in and do something else? First of all, I dont feel like it was for nothing. Nothing is ever for nothing, there is always something… if you choose. Sometimes you have to go through and live the life that you dont want, in order to realise what you want in life. ..to become acquainted with your higher purpose. Much like the rental Im staying in now, if I hadnt rented an apartment, I never would have known that this ISN’T what I want for when it comes time to buy our house next year. An apartment is two small, not enough light, and lacking energetic flow. So my job as a Mental Health Nurse, I would wake up at 6 a.m. every morning, ready for handover at 7 a.m., and then spend the next 13 hours there, and clock off at around 8 p.m. Go home, shower, sleep, do it all again. Doing these shifts three or 4 times in a row was never within my mental & emotional capacity. Working in the public sector was a challenge fucked. For the most part, I felt like the job was more like adult-sitting, looking after chronically unwell patients, many with drug addictions who would get admitted for their psychosis and spend a few days in hospital for their meth come-down. I would have loved to have cared for these people better, but the lack of resources and the way the system is setup is so insanely flawed, that you’re left feeling powerless in an outdated system. Mental health patients would stay in the ED for 3-4+ days waiting for beds, being chemically restrained to keep them at bay until they could get onto the ward. And by the time they came onto the ward & were promised that they could smoke, only to find out they can’t... Being the messenger for that message wasn’t well received. It wasn’t always like this… but it was like this all too much. The negative outweighed the positive for me. I didn’t wake up excited to go to work. Ela é focada num novo acontecimento mágico que vem surgindo na cidade e em quem está tentando resolver isso. A fantasia em si chega a ser clichê e essa é exatamente a ideia, o autor usa de vários elementos para satirizar as histórias que costumamos ler e isso é apenas parte da genialidade dessa obra, o recheio do bolo é acompanhar os personagens principais sendo muito pouco afetados por essa mudança toda na cidade.⠀ ⠀ Falando do protagonista, ele é um garoto repleto de preocupações, ansioso, compulsivo e muito carente de seus amigos. Sua ansiedade começa a piorar ao longo da obra e seu arco narrativo consiste em, basicamente, buscar ajuda e se entender melhor, junto de seus amigos. A maneira como o autor aborda a questão da saúde mental é muito bonita, responsável e emocionante, além de enfatizar a importância da amizade como apoio para nos tornarmos pessoas melhores. É bem surpreendente que um livro com uma premissa cômica vá para esse caminho e funcione tão bem e esse conseguiu!⠀ ⠀ A mensagem que ele passa é brilhante, nos lembrando que não precisamos ser os salvadores do mundo ou viver feitos mirabolantes para que nossa vida valha a pena, mas sim aproveitar o melhor que temos; nossas amizades, relacionamentos e buscar meios de estarmos bem e felizes, num mundo que, mesmo não sendo fantasioso, nem sempre é fácil estar assim.⠀ ⠀ Infelizmente o livro nunca foi publicado por aqui, acredito que os direitos estejam com a @novo_conceito e torço muito para que ele venha para cá. Why I care about being authentically yourself, especially in business. Here I am in this picture, just turned 22 and about to start my career as a Maths Teacher! With no idea that in just few weeks, I was about to become someone I wouldn’t even recognise anymore. I was new & inexperienced so I tried to compensate for it by creating a persona. Imagine me, rarely smiling, never being silly or ever making a joke at school. Stern looking & cold. I thought that the kids would respect & listen to me if I could come across assertive & strict. Because surely my lighthearted disposition & being ‘the real me’ wouldn’t work and I HAD TO play this role to be taken seriously. Ofcourse this was just a story my mind created & it’s not the truth but I really believed it back then. I would even try to dress like the other teachers & not shave so I could look older (can you blame me? My kids thought I was an A-level student & I look like a baby here in this photo too 😂🙈) Spoiler alert: this didn’t work, it was exhausting for my mental health, my classes were a mess, my kids hated me. I hated me. It might sound dramatic but I felt like a part of me was dying and in the end, I had to leave for my own well-being. I couldn’t do it anymore. Fast forward a year later, when I started my wedding photography business, I decided I will be fully me. I will be successful just as myself. My clients will get the real me in my wholeness. I spent a whole year & a ‘failed’ career pretending to be someone I was not. Ultimately, it gave me the biggest lesson: You are enough just as you are. Your biggest strength lies in you embracing your authentic essence. This is true for every single person, no exceptions. Many of us start our businesses because we want freedom. We dare to create life in our own terms. Let’s dare to do this as fully ourselves & let your brand be an authentic expression of your personality, your story, your purpose. Ten years ago today was a Tuesday. It was the day after Labor Day, and it was my first day at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. It was the beginning of a beautiful, wild, stressful, exciting, insightful adventure. Its crazy how 10 years can seem so long and so fast at the same time. I dont think I ever dreamed I would still be there a decade later, nor could I have imagined how many wonderful people I have had the chance to meet during those years and how many incredible stories I had the privilege to tell. This collection of photos doesnt come close to doing justice to the full scope of people, events, celebrations, tragedies, changes, etc. you all have entrusted me with documenting as a journalist. Its my sincere privilege to be on the front lines of history, preserving your stories for generations to come. Its a weird time in journalism these days. We truly dont know what our jobs will look like from one year to the next. But what I do know is my commitment to the craft -- be it telling stories myself in print, online or on camera or teaching the next generation of storytellers -- is as strong as ever. @norwich_cathedral chorister reaches semi-finals of prestigious @bbc competition 14-year-old Alice Platten is celebrating reaching the semi-finals of the BBC Young Chorister of the Year competition. She is one of just 10 choristers across the country in the running for the coveted accolade after impressing judges with her audition performances of Ex ore innocentium by John Ireland and The little road to Bethlehem by Michael Head. Alice said: “I was really shocked to get the call from the BBC. I am really looking forward to following in the footsteps of previous Norwich choristers and being involved in the programme, especially being able to meet Katherine Jenkins with the other choristers for a masterclass.” Ashley Grote, Norwich Cathedral’s Master of Music, said: “For Alice to have been selected as one of the final five girls in this year’s BBC Young Chorister of the Year is a tremendous achievement. “She is a natural performer who is not only a very accomplished singer for her age, but also an engaging performer who smiles at her audience! I am delighted that Norwich will be represented in the final stages of this prestigious competition. Alice, who is the daughter of Norwich Cathedral’s Canon Precentor, the Revd Canon Aidan Platten, has been a chorister at Norwich Cathedral for the last three years and previously sang in the choir of St Mark’s Hamilton Terrace in London. She also plays the violin and piano and is about to start her GCSE music course. As well as enjoying music, Alice also loves drama, reading and the outdoors. Five girl choristers and five boy choristers nationwide will take part in the semi-finals in September and will be given the chance to work with either Katherine Jenkins or Aled Jones. The competition, which is run jointly by @bbcradio2 and Songs of Praise, will be broadcast on both radio and television later in the year. Three girls and three boys will then progress to the final where one young singer will be crowned BBC Young Chorister of the Year and one will be given the Highly Commended accolade. MY MOTHER Ayako Tanaka, was hospitalised in Izumo, Shimane-ken, Japan on Tuesday the 18th of August after suffering with shortness of breath, chest pains and having been unable to physically move. Her family were unaware of her situation and were only informed on Friday the 21st of August. After having a multitude of tests, plus a biopsy, the doctors discovered that she has a very rare form of thymic cancer which has spread to multiple organs. Very little is known regarding this specific type of cancer but it is extremely aggressive. Ayako is in a critical condition and the doctors have also stated that she doesn’t have a very long time to live, so all they can do is manage her pain. Having been separated from us (her family) for over 6 months, as Ayako initially went to Japan to care for her mother who is sick, it is imperative that we (her daughters) can be by her side supporting her. Due to the current pandemic we need special permission from the Japanese government and visas to enter Japan. Even once we are allowed to fly to Japan we will be faced with having to quarantine for 14 days. With that being said, the hospital in which Ayako is staying are not allowing any visitors. The only option is to move Ayako to a privately rented apartment along with all the medical equipment and medical staff she requires so we can be with her physically. Unfortunately, due to Ayako having to stay in Japan for such an extended period of time, she doesnt have travel or medical insurance. However, the ultimate goal is to hire a medical plane, which costs around £85,000, to take her back to the UK so she can spend her final days at home with family and friends. As you can imagine, this is a matter of great urgency and the amount of funds that are needed for hospital bills & transport is unknown at this time but anything will be greatly appreciated.
