Yesterday I said goodbye to my Jiddy Norm. Growing up I always saw him as the leader of our family. My Mum absolutely adored her Dad. Whenever he saw us grandkids his face would light up & he would say “ha! Hi Jiddy” - I’ll never forget his voice. Nothing brought him more joy than having his family with him. I remember when I told him I was opening my own business & he smiled so big & said “You know, business is in our blood. It’s in the Elias blood” then went on to tell me one his many stories of how he built his businesses in Australia. He was an incredible story teller, one of many things he was incredible at. Jiddy, I will miss your infectious smile, wise words & your speeches on Christmas Day. You lived an incredible 86 years & will NEVER be forgotten. Rest In Peace Jiddy. I said something like ‘this would be weird if we weren’t brother and sister...’ And a dumb bit was born. Peter continued to speak into my mouth pretty much anytime we were onstage together. It made no sense, and we didn’t care. In the top photo he’s speaking into my mouth in ‘Home Alone.’ . People have been telling me most of my life what’s possible. To be honest I don’t harbor resentment Statistically, they are correct. I’m not blessed with genetics, single parent home, health issues in the family, learning disabilities along with a lot more reasons. To topple that for the most part my my adult life I was dirt poor struggling living on couches or with family. As unlucky I was with that, on the other hand my Mom gave me all the love I needed, my family supported me, @dino5thstgym took care of me instilled belief, and @bronxbomber145 struggled with me. In the end I closed the chapter as the first Greek to step foot in the octagon, won various titles, fought all over the world and it lead me to a my new coaching/trainer career. Good morning everyone! I’d like to thank the family and friends for coming and helping us celebrate our fathers life yesterday. I want start off by saying that I am so very proud of my brother Chris who has handled everything with such strength over the last month as well as my sister who did an amazing job preparing this celebration of life and delivering a great speech today. For me personally I can tell you all that my Dad was the driving force in my life. He always said YES to anything I wanted to do in life. I wanted to be a goalkeeper for an NCAA division 1 team. He would build me regulation goal posts practice on. Practice basketball with dreams of the NBA lol..he built an indoor basketball court in the other half of his workshop. You want your group to be the next @nsync or @backstreetboys . He let me have the band stay at our house and rehearse. He always let me live my dream. He was so proud of me for working with LA Reid as he knew that was a goal of mine. He put up with me blasting LA Face music all throughout my child hood. From TLC to usher...while he would play Jimmie Hendrix and Willie Nelson to me. Which was torture to me as kid but I am sure no less than him having to hear me practice “End of the road” by Boyz II Men a 100 times a day He was selfless and put everyone above himself. A true genius who could solve any problem and build anything - including a ”paraplane” !! I remember promoting a Jeff Foxworthy concert and my dad flew over the venue in his paraplane during Jeff’s show. Jeff stopped the show and looked up and said ”What kind of redneck straps a parachute to a fan and chair and flys it?” My Dad thats who. He built airplanes, always pushed me to my true potential and helped me to build my dreams. The last few years I didnt see him as much as I was off in LA living that very dream he helped me to fulfill - as an A&R, but we talked often, and we always had the best conversations. There are so many stories I could share about moments when my dad stepped in and was the star. He was my superhero. Always a call away for anything!! I will miss him so much. Drama schools are funny places. 3 years of intense passion, pain and happiness. When I met this man a lot of people were telling me no. Then he said Oui and do you have more please. And I had more. After 3 years, it looked like I may have found myself. I applied for a scholarship and asked if I could join him in Paris at the Comedie- Francaise, he couldn’t have been more welcoming. I didn’t get the scholarship and was so ashamed that I never got back in touch.... it was before computers. I don’t deal well with problems, even today. I heard he was very disappointed with me which made me incredibly sad. The last thing I wanted to do was upset one of my heroes. When FB came about he reached out to me and sent me wonderful messages and comments on my work. He loved me and I loved him, unfortunately from afar. Now he is gone. Doris was very sweet, and incredibly talented. Look up her career. She was involved in more projects than you can imagine. She was wildly funny, smart, and very warm. And, she could drink almost anyone under the table. She was always on top of her business, and didn’t suffer fools. But, the thing I admired most is that she was unbelievably hard working, and always tried to make a scene funnier. Sometimes it was how she said the line. And, often, she just gave a look. The lovely man on the left is Jerry Lewis. In the 80s Doordarshan broadcast his weekly show. Loved it. I used to copy his act as a child. The style is probably dated and too over the top for todays times but everyone loved him at the time. He is an inspiration to many comedians. Cut to 2019 when i watched this episode of @jerryseinfeld s comedians in cars getting coffee. I was reminded of Mr. Lewis and realised so late that he is largely responsible for unlocking the comedian in me as a child. If you have an interest in clown and comedy do have a look at his work.
