Woke up to some very sad news Sunday morning. Legendary go fast Harley motor builder and my friend Carl Morrow passed away. Carl played a big roll in making the bikes I build go fast fast. He built the motor for the very first custom bike I built in my moms garage in 1989. Going to that epic Santa Fe Springs shop and seeing a million 300’ burnout marks out front are some of my best memories. I’m very proud and honored to have the very last motor he built in my pentagon dyna. My heart goes out to Diane and Doug. I feel like I grew up with them and Carl. For those of you that dont know, last week was Zero Waste Week. Something that we strongly believe in at Greensand Ridge Distillery. To celebrate and continue this thinking, this week we have created this cocktail. . We had some wine leftover from last weekend that didnt manage to get drunk (we know, a very rare occurrence!) but rather than throw said wine away we created a delicious syrup from it. So we used Sauvignon Blanc boiled with 50:50 honey and caster sugar in equal amounts to the wine and a couple of sprigs of Rosemary. Nothing wasted! . 35ml Greensand Ridge London Dry Gin 50ml Fresh Grapefruit Juice 20ml Homemade Wine Syrup Topped with Soda Water . Super refreshing and far too easy drinking! Saturday Success! I’m so excited that the Four Roses OESF 12 year 6 month old Single Barrel pick arrived at Hops Grain and Vine on Thursday. It was so much fun picking this epic short barrel with @steeev.o.o , @bermansbourbon and @bourbonwhisperer The Four Roses @fourrosesbourbon barrel pick experience is such a awesome experience. Love chatting with @mandy_jo_vance and going through the available barrels. I really enjoy seeing stores succeed with their picks to the point that when they drop they are instantly gone. I love how so many Four Roses fans kept asking the store about the release and were able to get one of these gems. A little late night #dram never hurt, and this former #whiskyoftheyear is definitely helping end the day on a high note. • • Cracking in to some #nikkafromthebarrel, a #japanesewhisky blend of single malt and single grain whiskeys that’s bottled at a healthy 51.4% ABV. It’s blended in the same way as a blended scotch, blending over 100 #whiskeys together aged in #bourbon, #sherry and other barrels to create its flavor. • • On the nose it’s very fruit forward from the sherry right off the bat coupled with vanilla, cocoa, some spice and a faint underlying hint of peat and alcohol. More fruit when it hits the palate- berries, dates, orange accompanied by caramel, vanilla, honey, cinnamon spice, and mimicking the nose there’s a light oak, peat and slight punch of #alcohol that comes in on the end leaving a sweet, dry, tingly finish. • • Extremely rich and flavorful, it’s no surprise this has won many awards. 非常簡短的心路歷程，算是紀錄一下在低潮期的心境變化。對於它的紀錄在最後一段。 今天就是來聊天抽雨傘的，沒抽到半把，卻承蒙朋友餽贈兩把，深為感銘🥃。 這兩個月期間雖獲利四十余萬，心中卻總有忐忑，懊惱過去操作中的失誤、擔心能否堅持不懈把持紀律、在沒有操作股票的時間中總感到寢食難安，患得患失到了近乎憂鬱的地步。 獨自品酒的時間少了，也失了興致。這是在我以往被套牢或是尚未獲利了結時未出現的憂鬱情緒。對於跟同輩交際苦手的我來說無疑是一場大災難。 聚在一起分享威士忌，交流彼此人生經驗的氛圍妙不可言。幫助我暫時脫離了窘迫的現狀。相隔兩天相見時，彼此再度交流了短期規劃，感覺更加踏實滿足。 這幾位忘年之交絕對是需要用心維持住的良師益友，我該做好的就是漸漸放下執念，勇敢講出以前不敢說出口的話。堅持不懈，滴水可穿石。 誠心祈禱朋友的麵店能生意興隆、一帆風順🙏。 這舊裝瓶的阿貝10，味道香氣實在妙，我可以用生命保證不論是否盲飲，是絕不會與新裝瓶聯想到一起，聞香上只能憑藉記憶描述，少了許多foreshots燃燒橡膠輪胎的氣味，雲尼拿與奶油味少了許多，取而帶之的是一些熟果香與香蕉油的味道，還有潮濕森林裡的木質、濕葉、菇類、土壤的陳香味。酒體忘了、單寧感忘了、口中本應有的大量煙燻與燒稻草味被淡淡煙燻味與一股非常明顯的清新焚香以及一些新鮮香草味所取代，尾韻忘了記，因為我在聊天😅。 #Whisky#Whiskey #scotch#ウィスキー#威士忌#aquavitae #whiskylover#islay#peaty#ardbeg#singlemaltwhisky - @whisky_alexswj on Instagram

So, today marks the tenth anniversary of my dad, ol JBE, Jack Eshelmans passing. It seems like yesterday even though I had a hard time remembering today if it was 2009 or 2010. Just in case you havent heard this before, Jack brought liquor with him whenever he traveled. It always made me laugh because i told him, You know, dad, theres probably liquor on the way and liquor wherever you are going. But he did it regardless--for many years in a very fine leather etui case with crystal bottles--however, for our wedding, he bought the pictured bottle of perfectly average ($15/750 ml) Grants Scotch to California from Lancaster, PA. Though it stopped aging the moment it went into glass, thats a 40-year-old bottle now, and Ive taken to having a wee dram of it each year on this day as long as it lasts. I figure I can do this another ten years or so. You know, even though he was gregarious, quarantine would have suited him just fine: he puttered around days on days, writing, eating canned Campbells soup, Hammonds pretzels and (or with) ice cream, building contraptions to help him with his computer or the house, and generally driving my mom nuts, whether she was with him or not. All of this in what we would call fancy clothes. Saturday ruggeds for him would be pressed trousers and a polo shirt. Anyway, the dram is a testimony to the little quotidian memories i have of him that combine with his literally twinkling blue eyes, easy, guileless smile, gentle voice, kindness, ridiculous comb-over, and overall goofiness and goodness that carried him through life, and carried my mom, brothers and sisters along for too short a part of that journey. #jbe #dad #rip #scotch #memories #family #anniversary - @hoeshelman on Instagram
