What do you think? This is my favorite post so far. I knew I had to visit Scripps Pier at least once this summer. A week ago, I sporadically drove 1hr to UCSD to find almost 30 professional photographers under the normally quiet pier (swipe right). Apparently, twice every year, the sun sets between the pier’s legs, it’s called Scrippshenge. People literally brought ladders, big ass tripods, and multiple cameras! I originally was placed all the way in the back, shooting through crowds of photographers. I nerved myself to ask someone in the very front if I could put my camera down: thank God, he was so kind to let me. The only photo I took that day, but it is my favorite cause of the cool people I met, the super intense period of shooting, and of course the marvelous results. “Boardwalk,” 2020. The rising sun put on such a spectacular hoochie-coochie show, that I was just another sucker for a pretty face. I’m really at a loss for words to describe how lovely the world looked for 16 minutes. I counted 11 shades of green in the surrounding marshland. I’m certain there were more, but I don’t see as the painter sees. I tried blurring my eyes to see color patches, but that didn’t work out so well. QUE VES ? Hace unos años llegue a la Laguna de Sian Ka’an (Tulum)a fotografiar un muelle viejo con la vía láctea , estuve fotografiando de 11pm a 1am , la mayor parte con mi linterna apagada para poder captar bien la vía láctea , antes de terminar prendí mi lámpara para iluminar el muelle mientras fotografiaba y recuerdo ver algo en el agua , no le di mucha importancia y seguí , cuando de repente me di cuenta que tenía un cocodrilo junto a mis pies , salí corriendo(estaba a 5 metros de la orilla ) y la verdad si quede muy sacudido por meses . Finalmente bajé las fotos a la computadora y me encontré con esto , en la primera foto el cocodrilo está a unos metros de mi , y en la segunda ya está a mis pies , las fotos tienen 15 seg de separación o sea que 15 segundos más y no la cuento 🥴, desde ese entonces soy mucho más cuidadoso y me informo mucho más , pero uff que susto 😯 la foto se llama “alive” abrazote a todos !! - @pepe_soho on Instagram

Last week on Wednesday I headed out to do some time lapses, I had only planned to be out for a maximum of 4 hours. I started shooting at 7:30pm, though I went over time and finished up just before 4:00am the next morning. I didn’t go to sleep as I wanted to keep my eye on the gear. Here in the photo for the time lapse session I was using my @promediagear TR424L tripod with the levelling base, plus the @miopstrigger capsule 360 pan and tilt kit. Camera is the Canon 6D mark II + 16-35 f/4L IS. Image shot on my Hasselblad X1D + 45 f/3.5 for 36 minutes. Late last year when several of our historical jetties in the state were damaged during severe weather, Port Victoria Jetty was particularly damaged losing 50 metres of decking.
