KlebeBande at Bauhaus Museum Berlin We are happy to present our installation at the temporary Bauhaus Museum. We invite you to 3 tape art workshops at Bauhaus Museum. Subscribe at welcome@bauhaus.de. Topic is Everything sticky. An installation that combines some of our 3 styles. We only worked with a rough draft and experimented with the motif and material in the spirit of the Bauhaus school. We kept swapping positions and combining color areas, arrows and parallel lines (band patterns). Based on the Bauhaus collages (which are largely unknown), we glued a tape art wall collage. The initial spark for the invitation by the Bauhaus Museum came from a tape art work from the Bauhaus school in Berlin in 1933. A photo of it is on display. The installation is in the temporary Bauhaus Archive - Knesebeckstr. 1-2 to see. Free entry. Workshops Three tape art workshops invite you to try out the materials and techniques of adhesive art yourself. The adhesive tape artists Nikolaj Bultmann, Bruno Ridderbusch and Bodo Höbing show what design options are in adhesive tapes and foils. Curator Nina Wiedemeyer gives an insight into artistic collages and other adhesive media at the Bauhaus. Georges ROUSSE « Matsushima », 2013 Photographie marouflée sur aluminium Exemplaire unique H 160 x L 210 cm Exposition jusqu’au 7 novembre —————- Reproduction des œuvres et making off / Sur la colline dominant la baie de Matsushima se trouvait un café, appelé « Café Loin ». Violemment secoué par le séisme du 11 mars 2011, ce vieux bâtiment de style moderne a été sérieusement endommagé.De nombreuses fissures dans les murs ont rendu impossible sa réouverture et la ville de Matsushima. Avant la démolition de ce café, face à un panorama considéré comme l’une des trois vues les plus belles du Japon, Georges Rousse (né en 1947 à Paris) a été invité pour y créer une œuvre d’art. De ces photographies de bâtiments endommagés, de ces espaces en voie de disparition Georges Rousse en a fait une œuvre d’art, conservant à sa manière, la mémoire de ces lieux. Artiste mondialement connu, Georges Rousse est aussi amoureux du Japon. Ses photographies sont entrées dans la collection du Centre Georges Pompidou et du Musée d’art contemporain de Tokyo. We wanted to take a moment to thank each of our partners who have supported us on our journey so far. @eos.global often produce parts for Formula 1 and Aerospace, and they take care of our 3D printing process. Using a technology known as Laser Sintering, the helmet is produced layer upon layer by using high-powered and ultra-fine lasers to melt portions of consecutive layers of powder. The regions that have been melted later cool and solidify, whereas the surrounding areas remain in powder form which can be brushed away. The entire process takes approximately 36 hours for a batch of helmets. 3D printing allows us much greater control over volume, quality and timelines, so its brilliant to partner with EOS, without whom our display in Selfridges wouldnt have been possible. - @hexr on Instagram

Show: Desert Plateau by @parasiteparasite Location: @etsamadrid Curation: @la___cube Fotos: @asierrua Thank @mblage , @martamunozestudio and @imprimeverde_ The desert has always been a place full of fascination for man. The Oxford Dictionary defines it as “a waterless, desolate area of land with little or no vegetation, typically one covered with sand”. An example of this, or rather the archetype of a ”desolate area” would be the Sinai desert, where we can observe two of its most important features. The first being that due to an absence of water and vegetation, life becomes impossible; and a place where life cannot exist is the antithesis of an anthropomorphised landscape, the opposite therefore of the artefact, of architecture or its settlement agglomerations. The second feature concerns specifically the archetype of the western (or more precisely Mediterranean) desert: the Sahara, and the Sinai. Here we find the meaning given to this place from an ascetic or metaphysical point of view, with extreme reference to the history of the Hebrew people— it is on Mount Sinai that they receive the Tablets of Stone. Therefore the desert takes on huge significance as the birthplace of the three great monotheistic religions of Mediterranean origin. It becomes the space in which man can reinvent himself through a state of isolation. Desert Plateau is an installation resembling a domestic desert. A long and low table is a place to live and share stories. The area is designed by the use of a yellow moquette with a handmade designed pattern. A series of four yellow lights on pedestal gives colors to the entire area. Through a moment of activation the space became a workshop area. The users will be able to take some clay from a big monumental block and give shape to their own architecture from the wilderness, their Tabernacles. - @mayrit.fest on Instagram

After months in and of suspense, the exhibition that the CCA in Montreal has set up is finally up and running. They have confronted our work with the work of Rural Urban Framework, and it is the most rewarding encounter. Combining contexts as diverse as China, Mongolia, Albania and Belgium, suddenly a whole set of similarities and common approaches arise: an agenda of adaptation, working with people and strategic interventions, across scales, integrating social and ecological aspects, connecting university and practice. It is surprising to see how the architectural adaptation of a Ger (a Mongolian hut) can have so much in common with the adaptive reuse of the office towers of the World Trade Center in Brussels. Yesterdays prints, which are the outer shell pieces for a concrete mold, finished really well after a print time of roughly 15 hours. I am pretty happy with the print quality except for some random underextruded layers. The weird thing being, that the underextruded layers only appear at random heights and not in all the pieces simultaneously. After some research I found that the reason might be an uneven and sometimes too high resistance in the filament path. This year I tried something a little different and got @olly_yy from @mollusctradingco to make part of the sculpture, he did an awesome job fabricating the butterfly. The sculpture pits fragile beauty against man made destruction. Before lockdown, we had been exploring designs for a trivet in the studio. Many of our customers and collaborators had asked whether we could apply our studio process to modular design. That has always been an approach which has intrigued us, particularly when designing flat pieces. Through our process of applying traditional origami techniques to experiment with form, we had settled on combining curved mountain and valley folds to create a series of modules. One of those modules is shown here and repeated along the same plane to function has a trivet. We have taken care to design the depth of the module to balance the intended form with the required function. As we have continued to invest time in our 3D modelling and rendering skills whilst in lockdown, we used the process of creating these images to focus on emulating the pinch of the paper where the valley folds meet. Flex Sculpture by Matthew Raw is an imaginary architectural feature which displays glaze and rustication as a standalone sculptural statement, in contrast to its traditional architectural and masonry application. The Rustication Tile Collection is Matthew Raw’s first commercial tile range and is exclusive to The New Craftsmen. Matthew’s attraction to the tile is layered and deep - from their simple form to their vast historical and cultural significance. For this tile range, Matthew draws inspiration from the historical masonry technique of ‘rustication’ where texture and pattern form the surface of a stone block. Encased in the centre of 4/4 Time, 2020, is a quartered metronome – an essential tool for musicians, used to provide a consistent tempo through audible clicks that are measured in beats per minute. The work’s title references the most common time signature in music, indicating that a piece has four quarter-note beats per measure, which is represented quite literally by the metronome divided into four segments. Each encased in its own resin block, the components of this modular table sculpture can be arranged into different orientations: in quarters, halves or reunited as a whole. IN DEPTH 01, 2020 @festivaliminente Galvanised steel panels cut with oxy-fuel coated with thermostatic paint; concrete base cladded with thermo-lacquered galvanised steel panel 210 x 130 x 45 cm - This installation explores the negative space present in the multi-layer stencil technique (applied to reinterpret the aesthetic of the tile language) widely used in my work, adapted here to a permanent metal format, creating a depth game with shadows, volumes, and sunlight exposure, allowing the viewer’s eye to create a tridimensional perception that can be analysed and viewed during different times of day. 🌤 Insert deep quote here* I heard that once you stop finding figures in clouds, your childish imagination is gone. So I often try to find new things up there and am always surprised with what this brain is able to come up with! 🌈 ☁️ This project started with me being silly and thinking it could be done outdoors. It miiiight be possible, but I wasn’t able to get it right (instead of skies, I got ugly walls lol). So I bought a sky background, we then created a tent and shot it in studio. Ive been focused on Taipei exhibitions lately but its been amazing watching from a distance as friends galleries open new exhibitions across Shanghai. This past weekend Antenna Space opened a solo show of new work by Guan Xiao, one of my favorite artists for the way she absorbs all of the imagery and energy out there in the shared media world we live in and condenses them into material, sculptural forms that tie together found objects with process-oriented, labor-intensive fabrication. The show is called 8 Stories, referring to eight vaguely anthropomorphic sculptures, each of which seems to have a story that it cant quite tell. Their titles range from Petting-er to Hazel to the more verbose Lulubird walked out of delicatessen bumped into a swarm of buzzing. The latter is surrounded by a little flock of white bird-objects all angle toward it, occupying the most floor space. Others tend to make their claim on the floor in different ways, often trailing off little chunks. Petting-er has a tiny little neon blue ball and chain hanging off of it—or perhaps mooring it in a weak storm. Last week Capsule opened an exhibition of painter Cai Zebin, which looks like a major step forward for him. His last exhibition at the gallery made him out to be a very symbolic sort of painter in a way thats out of fashion in much of the world, each painting reconfiguring the relationship between specific characters painted as chess pieces. That was an interesting project and made him out to be a gifted storyteller, so Im doubly excited now to see that his new work seems to be open to a broader variety of imagery, all while retaining a really brilliant eye for the visual humor and punchiness that he does best. The Snake Charmers, for instance, where serpentine bodies are painted as here—but flat against the head, rather than medusa-style rooted tails. Three figures in gimp suits position their gaping mouths toward round red fruit; another painting depicts a half-bitten apple. With both of these artists there is an extraordinary levity that Im finding really refreshing right now, a recognition maybe that there are still games to be played - @robinpeckham on Instagram

Base23 works on this metaphor by installing a graphically abstract, oversized construction site in the room. For him, this symbolizes the as yet incomplete discussion and/or conflict, in terms of content it relates to the “repairing” and “renewing” of a place, in this case the solution to a problem, the “renewal” or “repair” of social interaction within a group of people. The symbol of a construction site is also confirmed by the chosen location: an empty garage that is torn down and gives way to a new building - in the figurative sense a new beginning. Inspired by his place of residence Berlin and the permanent location of large construction sites, house renovations and construction sites in road traffic/local traffic, the artist finds analogies of apparently banal things here and in previous projects. He puts them in a new context in order to irritate the viewer who knows this learned visual language from his own urban living space. This effect is enhanced by color, light and dimension. The work consists of two parts visually. When entering the room, everything appears white - the walls, the windows, the installation. The situation in which the viewer finds himself appears balanced and relatively calm. A UV-light switched in the interval and the darkening of the room make the “hidden” graphic elements applied with UV color abruptly visible on the installation. They visualize the luminous three-dimensional impression of a construction site and the character of a warning, a signal.
