Les 2 chassis construits ( M12-001 et M12-002) possède un V8 Ford Cosworth de 3.9 L de cylindrée. Bien que le bolide étais jugé un peu lourd, son aérodynamique avancé à laide de la nouvelle découverte de leffet de sol lui permettait datteindre les 340km/h en ligne droite. Ainsi, Harley Cluxton, propriétaire du GTC ayant racheté Gulf Research Racing (ou autrefois appelé John Wyer Automotive) engagea un seul modèle pour lépreuve mancelle (la deuxième voiture étais uniquement présente en tant que voiture de rechange). Mais, malgré le 9ème temps des essais, le bolide sera disqualifié 20minutes avant le départ de lépreuve! La Troy Roadster è una vettura custom realizzata da Wally Troy e dal suo team in Illinois nel 1959. Wally era dapprima conosciuto come il primo concessionario Jaguar nel suo stato, in anni in cui il Giaguaro stava avendo una crescita esponenziale e costruiva i suoi veicoli ad oggi più iconici. Montava un V8 Chevrolet da 5.7 litri, in grado di ottenere un rapporto/potenza incredibile. Ma non si parla di freddi dati in questo caso, ma del sogno nato dall’amore di un uomo per il mondo delle quattro ruote. La carrozzeria è battuta a mano, interamente in alluminio; le linee non seguono i caratteri degli anni ’60, difatti non sono mancate le critiche una volta presentata: per quanto mi riguarda credo che Wally volesse dimostrare che si possono preservare gli stili classici, ma adattandoli al proprio gusto personale, il gusto di chi di automobili si intende davvero. Le valutazioni attuali sono incalcolabili. Paolo Marzotto (9 Settembre 1930 - 26 Maggio 2020) Questa notte, è venuto a mancare uno degli ultimi eroi delle corse automobilistiche anni 40/50. Paolo Marzotto. Il più giovane dei 4 Fratelli Marzotto, i cosiddetti Conti Volanti, meritò la fama di stradista italiano più veloce. Paolo sforò più volte la vittoria assoluta alla Mille Miglia, sulle Ferrari Sport della Scuderia Marzotto o addirittura sulle auto Ufficiali. Memorabile ledizione del 1955 dove, prima del ritiro per lo scoppio di uno pneumatico dopo Verona, aveva fatto registrare una media record di 198 km/h. Sempre su Ferrari, nel 1952, divenne Campione Italiano Sport, vincendo il Giro di Sicilia, il Giro delle Calabrie, la Coppa dOro delle Dolomiti e al Circuito di Senigallia. Nel 1953 bissò il successo alla Coppa dOro e al Circuito di Senigallia. Il 1955 sarebbe stato lanno della consacrazione. Ferrari gli preparò una monoposto per il GP di Monaco ma il Conte arrivò in ritardo per le prove e non corse: lauto, affidata a Trintignat, vinse la corsa. Partecipò alla 24h di Le Mans, in veste di pilota ufficiale, come compagno di Castellotti. Poche settimane prima delle gara Paolo conobbe una giovane ragazza francese, che durante la gara, si trovava nella tribuna centrale. Dato che al pilota sarebbe toccato il secondo turno, invitò la ragazza al box Ferrari. Un giro prima dellincidente, Castellotti si fermò al box per affidare la macchina a Marzotto, ma lauto era consumata, tanto che dopo pochi giri, si fermò al box, ritirandosi. Into the first lap I could see from my dash my predicted lap time was going to get me at least 5th, but how much more? I was 3 tenths up on my best lap so far. I crossed start/finish and ….4th! This weeks Throwback Thursday features our 1974 Jaguar E-Type Group 44 Racing Car. In 1965 Bob Tullius founded his own racing team, Group 44 Inc. who would go onto winning hundreds of races and 10 SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) National Championships. Specifically to this E-Type, in 1975, the team won seven races, including the Road Atlanta National Finals. The teams success brought Jaguar back to Le Mans in 1984, for the first time in 27 years, with two Jaguar XJR-5 cars. No ladder frame chassis, as was common at the time, was needed and as such the first cars weighed only 1315kg (2900 lb). Royal Automobile Club Historic Tourist Trophy A New, Three-Hour Pre-66 Race Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit - October 25th Motor Racing Legends is delighted to announce an entirely new one-day meeting to be held on the full Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit on Sunday October 25th sponsored by DK Engineering. The highlight of the day will be an entirely new three-hour race for GTs, Touring Cars and Fifties Sports Cars. To be called the Royal Automobile Club Historic Tourist Trophy Three Hour Race, the race will run three classes: Pre ’66 (GTs and Touring Cars); Pre ’63 GTs; and Pre ’61 Sports Racing Cars. Eligibility covers everything from Cobras and E-types to Falcons and Mustangs; Austin-Healeys and MGBs to Lister Jaguars and Lotus 15s. Entrants will be encouraged to form teams of three cars – one from each class – and the RAC Historic Tourist Trophy will be awarded to the overall winning team. The day will also feature a one-hour combined race for the Woodcote Trophy & Stirling Moss Trophy, and a one-hour combined race for the Historic Touring Car Challenge & Tony Dron Trophy and Sixties Touring Car Challenge with U2TC. The meeting will be based in the Silverstone International Paddock, a large paddock with plenty of space to comply with current Motorsport UK guidelines. In line with current Silverstone Circuit operating policy the event will not be open to the general public. Whether it be in the Woodcote Trophy, the Stirling Moss Trophy, the Historic Touring Car Challenge, the Tony Dron Trophy, Sixties Touring Car Challenge, U2TC or the Royal Automobile Club Historic Tourist Trophy Three-Hour Race, support the day and share the privilege of racing on the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit. Here is the 1997 XK8 and 2014 XF 2.0 belonging to @gtyk1970. The XK8 has had only two owners and has clocked up 100,000 miles. As we start to prepare to re-opening the physical museum our museum from home posts might get more infrequent. However today were bring you a great image from a recent batch transferred from Aston Martin for archiving. The Jaguar XF might be a bit outdated compared to rivals, but a timeless design and a few party tricks helps it still feel fresh. From the handsome exterior, to the peak-a-boo gear selector knob, to the side air vents that rotate open as you start the car, this luxury sedan simply oozes style. If you want to stand out from the crowd of mid-size German luxury sedans and can live with a simple old-school interior, the XF is not a bad option. It’s not all show and no go either; handling is among the best in its class, and though the base turbo 4 engine feels underpowered, the 380 horsepower supercharged V6 found in the XF S provides plenty of thrust, and sounds amazing too. From a passenger’s perspective however, things aren’t quite as nice. Unfortunately the XF’s interior feels outdated, and simply can’t match the modern high-tech interiors of its E-Class and A6 rivals. Materials also aren’t exactly best-in-class, and Jaguar’s clunky infotainment system can be frustrating to use at times. On the plus size, the trunk and rear seats are surprisingly spacious, and despite its sporty handling the XF’s suspension handles bumps surprisingly well.
