Paul Pontieri has just earned another four-year term as Patchogue Village mayor, running unopposed in Tuesday’s village elections. He’s also heading back to Village Hall with three incumbent trustees in tow, according to the election results. Those three trustee incumbents, Lori Devlin (609 votes), Thomas Ferb (576) and Jack Krieger (556),. fended off challenger James Skidmore (242) in an at-large election — meaning the top three vote-getters win. 673 people casted votes for Pontieri. - @greaterpatchogue on Instagram

My FABULOUS, DEFIANT friend Greta Minsky—among the best friends I’ve ever had—passed away from ovarian cancer, & I’m so damned sad. She was/is the most hilarious & original person. A Broadway stage manager who, for a generation, helped create productions for such playwrights as Tom Stoppard, Charles Busch, & Neil Simon. Then, a venerable professor of theatre at Sarah Lawrence. Fearlessly feminist, & just so damned funny. Once, we were disagreeing about whether or not it was ever appropriate to employ ‘ess’ as a suffix. “Well, Pamela Harriman preferred the term ‘ambassadress,’” I said. “That’s because Pamela Harriman was a ‘whore-ess’”, said Greta.
