hesitated sharing this but going ahead anyways cause I believe in ownership over your story. this year has been painfully difficult in so many ways for all of us. beyond what any of us ever imagined. sometimes we can feel stuck in deep dark places within the places of pain in our lives. lies can surround us saying no one will ever understand how we feel, what we’ve experienced, our pain is worse than you fill in the blank. we must recognize that pain is pain. we also must recognize the lies we tell ourselves, the stories we make up in our head. our emotions are real, the gravity of how hard things are is real, but being alone in them is not and comparing our pain to the pain of others only hurts ourselves and others more. I have been in those spaces mentally and emotionally. I stayed in the secret and let my thoughts run and dictate my mind, life and what I believed was true. what I learned through everything is how real emotions are. how important it is to talk about our emotions and it’s okay to feel at all. how we express them can be beautiful or destructive. I learned to reach out, to talk about the hard things, to seek help. I thought it was impossible but through the process I learned to lean into the pain to understand, lean on others, seek out support. you are cared for. you are important. your feelings are important. feelings and pain inform us. what you do with your feelings matters. reach out, talk to someone, get help. you are worth it. please don’t ever be afraid to share with someone how you feel, whether it seems like you think someone can’t handle how big your emotions are or how much pain you’re in. there is beauty that can be found within pain. holding onto small moments like the sun rising, the cool wind of a warm summer afternoon, the of glimmer of light that flicks on the river’s edge. breath deeply. we can do this. together we can make it through. - @tiffanylovesyou on Instagram

I’m going to break my Instagram silence with a personal post about my sweet Aaron Blake. We just celebrated our six year anniversary on September 20th, which is a pretty big deal. When I met and fell in love with Aaron, it was game over for me. I knew he was it, and I knew it very quickly. Falling in love is the easy part. It’s what comes after that takes the work. I am not an easy person to live with, by any means. And yet somehow Aaron continues to shower me with grace, love, compassion, and understanding and so much more that I don’t deserve. This is a picture of me in arguably one of my favorite places in the whole world - @barefoot_recording - where I do my favorite things in the world - produce, record and mix records. I started learning what a record producer was accidentally in my punk bands first garage when I was 14, where I would help write and ultimately record our songs. Since then I’ve been an intern that slept on the studio couch, an assistant that also slept on studio couches, and in 2010 started to work solely for myself producing records. I’ve been fortunate enough to make records in some of the most beautiful studios in the country and also in bedrooms and garages. There’s no doubt that Barefoot Recording is, to me, the mecca of where to do this. I was truly honored to be invited into this studio and to be a part of this rare, talented family. It’s one of the biggest compliments I have ever felt in my career. My friends @nerdentine and @graciepotter who own Barefoot have decided to sell it. I wish them all the love and luck on their new adventure and I look forward to our continued friendship. A lot has changed since I was 14 learning what a record producer was. The only constant is my obsession, passion and ever evolving love for the craft; and also that I still very often sleep on the studio couch (what can I say, I like it). The plan right now is for me to stay right here in this facility/building and in the studio that I built producing, recording and mixing records. If that changes and I have to move to a new facility you’ll all be the first to know. I truly look forward to doing this for many mannnnyyyy more years to come whether that be in a garage, a small studio, a bedroom, a large studio, or wherever that journey takes me and us to make the best songs and records humanly possible. Most of all, thank you to everyone...all the bands and artists that allow me to continue to do this day in and day out. I am always honored and humbled by your trust in me to help create your vision. i still can’t believe it’s real. the past 60 hours have been the most heartbreaking, stressful, exhausting hours of my life. we were on vacation 6 hours away from puerto plata, on an excursion, when we received the news that the borders would be shutting and we needed to evacuate immediately. this little girl saw us crying on the beach after we found out and gave us each a seashell and a kiss on the cheek. she wiped my tears off my face and told me not to cry. because of the corona virus, school is cancelled for the next 3 weeks so we didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to our kids. i have only slept for 3 hours and i don’t have any more tears left in my body to cry. i can’t even put into words the heartbreak that i feel. i am not done here. i still had 2 months left and i can’t believe how fast it all came crashing down. i don’t understand why this has to happen but i know that god has a perfect plan and i have faith in him. the people of the dominican republic have my heart forever. through teaching these kids, i have learned so much. i am grateful for the people and kids i was able to see before we left. i am grateful for this amazing opportunity i had. i am grateful i was sent here with 14 of my best friends, to this place where the people are filled with so much love. i am grateful for my dominican moms, clara and sarah and how they have helped me grow. i have become a new person and it is all thanks to this beautiful country. i am going to miss hearing “teacha morgannnn” as we walk through the gate everyday and all the hugs that overwhelm me. i am going to miss “teacha one moment” when the time for coloring is up. i am going to miss the “hola morgan” from clara every morning. i am going to miss the crazy busy roads and the warm weather. i am going to miss the constant noise of living with 14 other girls and best friends. i am going to miss everything about this place and these people. definitely the hardest goodbyes i have ever had to say. i love you so much república dominicana. you have my heart forever and you will always be my home. i will see you soon🇩🇴❤️ #ilpdr #wehatecorona - @morganhowess on Instagram

August 8th is a special day for the Hansen fam. 2 years ago today I became Hermana Hansen. Leaving my fam was the hardest thing ever but I didnt know It was also going to be the greatest thing ever. As hard as my mission was, I would not change a thing. I can go on and on of all that I learned, and how special and life changing serving in Costa Rica was but in short, I gained a real testimony of this gospel. And I truly learned to serve and LOVE people, even ones that I didnt know who have now literally become my family. When I got my call we were all surprised to see that I would enter the mtc August 8th because that was also the day gabby started her own mission. I was in the shadow ridge gym at a stuco retreat when I found out she had stopped breathing. And the rest of that month was probably the hardest month of my whole life. The rest is all a blur, but when August comes every year I get to think of gabby- everything we shared together like our trips, our bunk beds, our love of Disney, and laughs. I get to think of how many people loved and took care of my family during that time, and I get to think of how HARD it all was but also how JOYFUL I am now. Not to say I am happy gabby is not here, but I am joyful that Heavenly Father trusted my family and I with gabby in our lives and with that trial. Now when I left on my mission 2 years ago, we were sad to think of gabby and what we had gone through, but also so joyful to know that I had a companion that would never be transferred or separated from me and thats what she did- she stook with me through all the hard times. I still sometimes look at my family and think were one person short but i also know shes always with us. We still laugh and fight and cry and we know gabby does it all with us. And shes happy with us in Disneyland too. :) Now were all grown up. Its been 4 stinkin years!!! And it still makes me sad I havent seen her in that long, but what Im trying to say after saying way too much is that I AM SO GRATEFUL. Losing her was so hard, leaving my family was so hard, living in a foreign country was so hard, August is always so hard and really life is always just so hard. What was meant to be the perfect distance from each of our offices and compromise, all of that has been thrown out the window now that neither of us may ever go into the office again.. BUT we do love it here :) They say patience is a virtue and that has never been more true than during this time. We are all a work in progress, and there’s nothing like a pandemic to put things in perspective and to test you - as a partner, as a friend, as a family member, as a person. Above all else, if there’s one thing this time has taught us, it’s patience. And to never lose your sense of humor, because those laughs in the middle of the day make all the difference. We are so grateful to have each other during these unprecedented times, and Kala, our dog, who provides the comedic relief every other hour. We try to keep trying new experiences if we can — which for us, rediscovering tie dying as an adult was quite the experience, and if you can’t tell, we’re mildly proud of our creations. Recently, the three of us just went camping in Michigan, which was a first for me, but rejuvenating for the soul. Next up, I made a huge life decision and am starting a completely new chapter in my career, which makes me feel all of the things (in a good way). One of the most difficult things during the #fornownormal: not being able to share life events with community. One of the best things during the #fornownormal: drawing out those celebrations as long as possible 🎉 Everyone asks why I’m still basically as strict as I am even though NYC is “doing so well,” and among other reasons, this is why. I knew I wanted to see my nephew when it was possible for me to, and I wasn’t going to risk that opportunity for something else that’s trivial in comparison. 2020 has been the year of massive #prioritization. And if I’ve learned one thing in 2020, I’ve learned that my priority is: my community. What I do affects you, and what you do affects me, and what we do affects the rest of us. We’re all way more connected than we thought - it’s just a shame that it took a global crisis to make us realize it. Important to note that all the proper pandemictime precautions were taken and then some for this solo trip -😷🧼🧴🧪🧤etc etc etc - @glographics did a GREAT post on 7/19 about covid travel prep that includes all the things; go bookmark it. (also make sure to test/distance upon arriving home!) There are a lot of us connected on here, and I don’t take that lightly. If you’re going to travel, travel sparingly, and when you do, travel responsibly. Glo’s guide is a MUST follow. The real news though?? Meet my nephew, Ford!! 😍 Likes: “Rain On Me,” laughing, mirrors, @dodgers. Dislikes: pandemics. Also, this face. I can’t. Being in NYC while he was an almost-cooked bun-in-the-oven and then through his first months of life was so difficult, but another thing I’ve learned is to not let mourning the time we DIDNT have overpower experiencing the time we DO have to the fullest. I got to give my mom the biggest bday surprise she’s had in a while (legit whistle-tone screams when I walked into the room 😂) and I got to cuddle with my new little pal. All those months of FOMO went away in mere MOments...moments made all the sweeter because of the mindful lead-up. Wow this is so fun so HI! My name is kelly, I’m 25, and this is my bff/daughter Chai T. I grew up doing competitive gymnastics, started diving my senior year of hs and walked on to NC State’s diving team (GO PACK BABY). I went back and forth about posting something today given all of the heaviness in the world right now, but a good friend reminded me that it’s ok to be thankful for what I have and still be an ally to those experiencing inequality. I feel lucky to have closed on my first home today. And Beaux feels even luckier to now have a yard :) I recognize I was able to get to this point in large part because of the opportunities I was granted access to based on the color of my skin. I recognize that no matter how hard I think I’ve worked to get where I am, people of color have to work harder. I’ll continue to use my voice and my privilege to spark change. And for a few minutes today, I felt grateful and happy that I had a chance to fulfill this dream and wanted to share that joy with my friends, especially during these hard times. Sterilization Sunday #9 went down this past weekend! It was a super successful day with amazing volunteers from all over the world. Two years ago today, we rescued this little girl in Indiana. She was flea infested, living in a hot barn, and had no idea what cool air felt like. The moment we put her in our car for the long drive home, she immediately fell asleep, able to finally rest peacefully in an air conditioned space. A year passed, and there was a week where EmmyLou got really sick and had to stay in the hospital for various treatments. She fought that sickness and came back home, healthy and excited to be back, bugging her sister, Paris, for some play time. EmmyLou is a fighter and has conquered life’s little challenges.
