I’m happy to have contributed to People Wearing Off-White by Hanka van der Voet. In good company of: Chinouk Filique de Miranda, Denise Bernts and Hanka van der Voet. My text ‘And Then You Can Post-Rationalize. (Pause.)’ is an assemblage of sentences from interviews with, and texts about Virgin Abloh, who uses the principle of quoting, editing and copying as a design approach himself. At the end of the summer of 2019, Hanka van der Voet and eventually also others, started documenting people wearing Off-White they encountered in the streets. Starting off as an obsession with collecting these images, this project quickly turned into a fascination with Off-White designer Virgil Abloh, the immense popularity of his brand, and the lack of contextualisation the mainstream fashion media was providing for this phenomenon.
