Want to know how I started listening to my body but not obsessing over it? This is by far one of the top questions I get asked by my coaching clients all the time. Maybe you’re newly diagnosed or you’re not quite in a place of acceptance or remission. You’re used to operating from a place of fear…fear that you’ll trigger another flare. Fear that one wrong decision and you’ll feel like crap for days to come. Here’s the thing you probably know if this has crossed your mind before…fear is not an easy thing to get over. Yet it’s still 100% possible. For me, when it came to fear around my IBD it was all about mindset and trying things before I was 100% ready. Because guess what? You’ll never feel 100% ready. But the more we try and succeed, the more we can have positive examples to reference in our minds of things going well. This builds up our confidence and willingness to keep trying over time. So, the next time you practice this, I want you to ask yourself “how can I shift my mindset from a place of fear to a place of abundance? That face you make when everything you’ve been manifesting starts showing up for you. I’ll cheers to that 🥂 Gosh guys everything I’ve ever dreamed of seems like a real possibility to me these days. But 3 years ago there’s no way I’d believe it because I was real stuck in my bullshit, blocking my blessings, and running in the wrong ass direction of what was already meant for me. I was a constant victim of my circumstances. “I’m too broke” and “nothing ever works out for me” were some common thoughts of mine. I was hanging out with the same toxic people who only cared about me when the drinks where flowing but were nonexistent when I really needed them. I had terrible self sabotaging patterns. The kind where your like “𝘐’𝘮 𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘢 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦, 𝘐’𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦” but then the next weekend your back at it again 🤦🏻♀️ Yeah those memes are funny but when your actually living it, there’s nothing funny about it. You are toxic AF to your own self! And don’t get me started on the amount of anxiety and depression I had. That shit was in ABUNDANT supply. 😣 The life I’m creating now (with my thoughts, words, + actions) and every single desire I have is mine for the taking but before, I did a damn good job holding myself back from it. I got a deep and scathing review of my book in a popular feminist site Friday and though it sat heavy on my chest, it was that GOOD GOOD medicine.🔥🌿🍄☕️ And here is why: Because it made me check myself! It also made me happy people outside the spiritual/healing space have read and written about my book. And it poked my fears just enough. Sometimes I doubt myself and that article gave me a good shake to hear my own self doubt externalized about whether my work has become too “woo woo” for all folks. That was good medicine for me like a garlic oregano cayenne shot when my throat is sore. Burns so good! With this book I shared my spritual practice and healing journey that WAS deeply private from age 14 to 31... SHIFT FROM: Mom and I talk about karma and soul mates and angels and our trauma and energy privately/ I sit in ceremony and engage in things to help me fight depression / addiction/ sexual trauma and find god outside the status quo - and this is my private journey... TO: Let me put all that on the internet and IG + IN A BOOK and teach others about it too!!😳🥳 KINDA INTENSE and also weird and also magical and a mother fucking privilege!!! And so hearing my own self doubt / fear of sounding woo woo EXTERNALIZED and blasted to thousands of people...IS A TRIP. I TRUST what I teach / share / write. And I know in my Bones what is true for me. 🍯💋💀 Thanks to all who read my writing, attended workshops and retreats and programs, watched my films and have shared about the book! Your support means so much. In a world where a lot feels INSANE (police brutality, masks, the president, a quickly declining climate, living on occupied land...just to name a few) Finding what is ✨SANE ✨ and defining that for one’s self WHAT SANITY IS is important : Babie being born, the sun rise, my Love’s hands, my friends’ laughter and my spritual practices and community that feel like home. It’s been a year since I was discharged from intensive eating disorder treatment. A year since I hit publish on a blog where I opened up about a battle I’d been waging for 20 years. A year since I felt like I got a new lease on life. A year since I finally felt like I could be me - ALL of me. . And what a year it’s been. . I wish I could say it’s been all filled with sunshine and puppies and unicorns farting rainbows. At some points, it has been. At other points, it’s been some of the hardest moments in my life. . Surprisingly, food has been the easy part. The hard part has been the stuff I didn’t expect: the things that happen when you take away your trusted coping mechanism that served you for so long. . But for all the hard stuff, I remind myself that, for the first time in so many years, I’ve actually been living, and not just existing. And I know, more than anything, it’s worth it. Sometimes life feels like it’s been flipped upside down, for instance...when I walked into work the day after running a marathon (could barely walk and was exhausted) and my boss was like “oh hey you’re moving to Wisconsin”....life flipped in an instant. While I will say things have turned out well, I really miss Chicago. Being back this past weekend made me miss it even more but I like to believe that everything happens for a reason! I didn’t want to do it, but I knew I had to. 😞 It was one of the absolute hardest decisions I have ever had to make. It went against everything I knew, everything I stood for, & everything that made sense. It was risky. So risky I wasn’t even sure I was going to make it out on the other side okay or if I was going to have to fall back into what I knew, even though I hated it. I resisted for a long time & when I finally did it, I didn’t fully commit. 🤷🏻♀️ The pain of letting go of what society deems “stable” & diving into a world of unknown, is far worse than holding on to the pain of something you hate doing. 1.5 years & a global pandemic later, am I ever glad I made the decision to ditch the corporate world & start my own business.🤗 Although the corporate world offered me consistent pay, benefits, & “stability”, if I went back there’s no telling where I would be today. I can almost guarantee I wouldn’t be going through the motions of buying a house on my own!🎉 This is because the definition of “stability” is changing at a rapid pace during these crazy times & what we grew up to know as stable has now proven to not be stable at all. Stability was always important to me, which is why dropping the corporate world was excruciating, until now. What I’ve realized now is that I create my stability. ✨I create how much money I make in a year. ✨I create how much freedom I have. ✨I create the lifestyle I want to live. All it took was one giant leap of faith, a fuck ton of ambition, an incredible support system & a dream I wasn’t willing to let go of. Comment below if this resonates with you. Happy Friday!!! A quick breath practice for anyone who needs a morning wake up 😝 or a midday release. Total practice can be as short as 3-5 minutes. To begin: place your right hand under your left armpit, thumb stays out. Place your left hand 🖐 under your right armpit, thumb stays out. (Think SNL Mary Catherine Gallagher for my fellow 80’s and older babies 👋.) Take a long, deep inhale and fill up your belly, as you exhale stick your tongue out and release deep breath and energy from inside the body. Do that three times and create sound or vibration as needed with every exhale breath. Then keeping the lips softly closed for three minutes: inhale through the nose for a count of three (nice and slow) connecting the breath again to your belly as it expands and exhale through the nose for a count of five, pulling the belly back gently. Continue on for 3 full minutes and as you breath, focus on relaxing your body. Relax your shoulders. Relax your ears, your eyes, your hands, your belly. Relax your being as you maintain a supported posture and soften into the healing experience. Allow yourself to receive this time as nourishment. To reconnect as you release. The arms crossed in front of you help to close off part of the whole body being so open, which supports a rebalancing between the left and right hemisphere of the body. Once you’re complete, gently release your hands to your lap, palms facing up. Keep your eyes closed and continue breathing for a few breaths. Take a few moments to feel and to integrate. Upped my running regimen this week from 3 miles per run to 4 miles!! 🙌😀 (From 4.8 kms to 6.5 kms). At 3 miles I was going 6 days per week, but I’ve dialed it back atm to running only every second day until my body adjusts to this longer distance. Last week I wore a sports bra to the gym for the first time. This was a big win for me - and not because I hate my stomach or am self-conscious about having rolls when I bend over - for me it was all about overall self-love and self-esteem. ⠀ ⠀ I have always been “skinny” growing up, and I am fortunate to not have many insecurities about my stomach. Why couldn’t I bring myself to wear a sports bra to the gym then? It was so much deeper than that, it was the fear of what others would think of me. ⠀ ⠀ In the past few months I have realized I don’t want to be 80 years old and look back on my life only to see that I held back on doing exactly what I wanted to do because I was scared of what others would think.⠀ ⠀ This means I have started to dance and sing more in my car with the windows down, wear WHATEVER I want and makes me feel good, say no to things that don’t align with my values, and spend time alone doing things I love. These are all things that have helped me with self-love, along with affirmations. ⠀ ⠀ Our subconscious beliefs that we aren’t good enough can govern our daily thoughts and even actions or decisions. This is why looking yourself in the eye in the mirror and just even saying “I am good enough” or “I unconditionally love and accept myself” can be so powerful. Went on a much needed staycation which was basically just a coffee drinking fest with my brother, sister in law, and nephews. It was such a relaxing 24 hours. We stayed at @thedavidcitadel and when I arrived, my room wasn’t ready yet so I was treated to a cappuccino and a big slice of cheesecake with whipped cream and raspberry coulis to start of this little vacation with #thebesttimeofday. After that my nephews and I went straight to the pool which really is my happy place. We then headed out to a delicious dinner at my favorite Jerusalem restaurant, @al.dente.jerusalem where we enjoyed plenty of fresh pasta, including my two favorite dishes pillowy gnocchi with artichoke and roasted tomato butter, and the fish bruschetta packed with such fresh and bright flavors. Along with dessert we had more coffee made with a good shot of baileys because why not? The next morning we enjoyed a classic Israeli hotel breakfast which is an elaborate buffet with so many different dishes to choose from with beautiful fresh produce and pastries and of course so many cups of coffee that I lost count. Took one of those cups of coffee to go to go hang out at the pool before we headed out for a day strolling around Jerusalem. It was a really great experience to be a tourist in my own city. about my laparoscopic spay⬇️ on friday I went to @kewbeachpets to have my laparoscopic spay. between my breeder’s suggestion and my pawrents research, we waited until after I had my first heat and was ~1.5 years old to be spayed so that my body developed and I was fully grown/mature. when my pawrents were researching spays, they asked themselves “how can we keep our energetic Lucy calm and inactive after her spayed to recover? this will be impossible!” when looking for answers to this tricky question, they learned about the laparoscopic spray option. the laparoscopic ovariectomy spay is a less invasive surgery that only removes the ovaries and will prevent me from coming into heat and having baby puppies. because the surgery is less invasive, the recovery time is much faster. with my surgery on friday the vet told me that I could even go to daycare on monday, that’s how fast the recovery time is! this morning, I’ve been running jumping playing and sprinting. even though it makes my pawrents pretty nervous, it is still safe for me to do. they are always checking my two small incisions on my tummy and they are still perfectly small and perfectly healing. if I had had a regular spay, I surely would have opened up my incisions by now, because I just can’t stay calm. I am so happy we found this option, because i’m a really hyper and playful girl, and I don’t know how I would have been able to function inactively for 2+ weeks for healing and recovery. if you swipe through the photos, you can see my shaved belly, some freckles, my nipples (hehe) and my two small incision marks on my tummy. the last photo with my tongue out was taken just a few minutes ago - only 48 hours after my surgery and my wounds look so good! for full transparency, my pawrents were quoted around $800-$900ish (before taxes) in toronto for a regular spay. my laparoscopic spay was a bit more expensive at $1158 before taxes, but my pawrents totally think the ability for me to hop right on back to my regular energetic life was totally worth it! did you know about this spay option beforehand? did you learn anything from my post? let me know below! - @lucy.the.lil.aussie on Instagram

So many of us lose the structure of the weekday and go HAM on the weekends. These extra calories can really add up! 2️⃣ Do some research and find out how many calories per day you actually are supposed to eat. These bullshit 1200 calories diets aren’t for grown women. We are entrepreneurs, mothers, professionals and so much more. We need food to keep going! 3️⃣ Embrace some recovery time. You do not need to murder yourself in the gym to reach your goals. And what better use could you make of that time? A day that could be your last—you want to spend it in worry? This is what happens when you struggle with body image and never think you look good enough. When you start pushing yourself during a lockdown to do a “28 Day Exercise Challenge,” because you think you need to lose a few pounds. Somewhere along the line you injure yourself, hurt your foot- your plantar fascia (what IS that anyway??). So you stop the exercise but you ignore the injury and keep going, keep being a mom and a wife and walking the dog two miles a day. The foot never heals (but you SWEAR it will, one of these days- it’s fine, everything is fine). Finally you just can’t take it anymore, so after 6 months of pain you go to the doctor and find that the ligaments in your foot are torn and scar tissue has built up. Now you have a soft cast on and shouldn’t walk at all for a while (how is that even possible as a mom??). And even as you sit here typing this, you feel guilty complaining, and worry that you’re not getting enough exercise, just lying around, off your feet. So my question is, when do we ever accept ourselves as good enough? When do we learn to love the skin we’re in and stop seeing distorted images of ourselves when we look in the mirror? I hope I’ve learned from this. I hope I can accept myself for who I am and realize that I actually injured myself trying to be something “better” and “thinner” than I already was. I hope I can look at my own photos someday and realize I was already good enough, thin enough, pretty enough. Awhile ago, I’d mentioned I was tired when someone asked how I was doing. . To my response, this person told me that I wouldn’t know what it was really like to be tired until I had kids. . All this made me do was fight myself on what I was doing wrong since I wasn’t worthy of being tired since I’m childless. . ✨We will talk about pointing out when someone doesn’t have kids another day, since I am in fact tired, I don’t have the bandwidth to tackle that conversation today but I will in time.✨ . Anyways, I’m feeling snarky (hello PMS), but I’ve sat with this thought of worthiness and tiredness for weeks now and haven’t been able to shake it. . My friends, don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t be tired, that you must do more or have more to result in this “noble” title of having less energy than a regular day. . There is plenty- I mean PLENTY of room in this world 🌎 for you to be tired, for working parents, a college student, a stay at home mom and a single substance abuse counselor (🙋🏻♀️) to be tired- just as we are. . Instead of comparing who has the right to be more exhausted and casting shame on someone who hasn’t appeared to earn tiredness, let’s spend our energy on loving on and lifting up one another- just as we are, in whatever capacity that looks like to us. . It has only taken me 22 years to get to the top of this mountain! This was a very first for me and I have to say it was so much better than I thought it would be. This is a day late because I was scared to post it yesterday because it is so uncomfortable and hard to talk about. Ultimately, it is something that I need to tell so, fuck it. Here is my story. #denimday This is the shirt that was ripped off my body when I was raped (1 of 5?). He was a friend, he was (and still is) the boyfriend of someone I used to call a sister. I thought nothing of going over to his apartment the first night it happened but, within a couple of hours I had so much taken from me. For the whole month of July 2019 I was terrified, I did anything he asked. He used video and audio recordings of me I didn’t know he had taken to control me. Threatening to send them to my school, my sorority, my friends, threatening to ruin my future. He started showing up at my house and my school when I tried to say no. He would follow and harass my friends at campus bars, getting his roommates and friends in on it too. He threatened my life and the lives of everyone around me. I am so done with being scared and living with this constant feeling that I’m keeping a huge secret. I am so done with being embarrassed and ashamed of what happened. Nothing that happened was my fault, I didn’t ask for it, I didn’t lead anyone on, I didn’t consent. I didn’t consent because consent out of fear and coercion isn’t consent at all. I am owning my story and leaving it behind me, it is no longer a burden I want to carry. I showed myself that I can survive so much more than I ever thought I could.
