Here is a self portrait of what I looked like when I was 29. It’s a little wonky cause I did it with a #2 mechanical pencil and no eraser. It could use some highlights on the nose, eye, and forehead, but none of my pencils have erasers, apparently! It’s of a selfie I took in the bathroom of the Snyderman Works Gallery in Philadelphia. There was a daytime show and I can’t even remember what it was. I just remember leaving my shop for a little while and falling in love with the brightly tiled bathroom at Snyderman. I had on hot coral lipstick and a lace top with a blazer and I remember feeling very grown up. It’s nice to get back into drawing, since I haven’t done it at all, really, since the beginning of quarantine. It’s interesting to reflect on my younger self- it was around this time that I had thought to myself how grateful I was that Nazis didn’t really exist anymore and Russia wasn’t a threat to our country anymore and how happy I was to have a president I really loved and believed in (Obama). This was 2013, a year that had a lot of change in it for me. But at least, right then, things were okay. - @franklinsquare on Instagram
