The Pods are five interconnected pavilions hung mast-like from cables. When Ontario Place opened in 1971, three pods housed exhibitions which explored Ontario’s past, present, and future. The two remaining pods included an entrance area and restaurant overlooking the artificial lagoon below. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Architect Eberhard Zeidler has cited his inspiration for the Pods as oil drills, the Crystal Palace, and the Eiffel Tower. The Pods also bear a striking resemblance to Archigram’s Plug-In University (designed a few years prior to Ontario Place) as well as Yona Freidmans Spatial City (designed in the late 1950s.) When was a time you discovered something that had been “Out of Sight - Out of Mind”? Continuing from our post about the anchor chain, this time we move to the lowest point in the opposite end of the steam tug Hercules. Here, we explore the “Out of Sight...” propeller shaft in the engine room. This area is often referred to as “shaft alley”. On large ships, it can be a long tunnel-like space leading from the engine room to the back of the ship where the propeller shaft exits out to the propeller. Given her smaller size and arrangement, Hercules’ “shaft alley” is simply the aft end of the engine room itself. It is only visible to the visiting public, though, if they attend a guided tour. This is because it is two levels down and not visible from the main deck mezzanine where they are able to roam on their own. Because of this, it is another underappreciated space. It is here that power from the large main engine gets driven into the water. Except for engineering discerning visitors, many people look upon the engine without contemplating how its power actually transmits to the ocean. In this case, you can see Ranger JR Earnest sitting directly in the aft end of the alley. The low is forecast to move southward to southwestward and emerge over the northeastern Gulf of Mexico later today. Our little girl came early! 😍 Rose Marie Elizabeth Malig Marquez. Born January 19th (Capricorn season! 💪) at 3lbs 2oz. 15. She is small, solid, healthy, and I love her to pieces❤ 🌞 @heleinalouisse and I are doing great, we have a few more days here in the hospital to recover. Our little girl will likely be here in the NICU for a few months. We were admitted to the hospital on Thursday and have been here ever since... Organizaram uma junta de três Estados (representantes do clero, nobreza e povo) que tomou as seguintes medidas: ○ expulsão dos jesuítas ○ abolição do monopólio comercial (a Cia do Comércio foi extinta); ○ enviou um emissário a Portugual para justificar o movimento e fazer reclamações. O movimento terminou com a nomeação do novo governador, Gomes Freire de Andrade, que anulou os atos da junta. A repressão a revolta levou à morte dos líderes rebeldes. Manuel Backman foi enforcado (1685). Este movimento foi isolado e não contestou a dominação metropolitana, mas apenas um de seus aspectos: o monopólio. Laces out, perforations down. I quickly sketched this for our real estate broker. In the ol PNW, it sometimes rains. 🤓 I subscribe to the standard perforations down with a footing drain to pick up ground water. Picture it akin to a bathtub filling up. The holes arent at the exact invert elevation of the pipe, therefore there will be a little water higher than the invert elevation. Today we highlight The Cultural Current by Aubrey Bader and Maggie Redding In their words: “We realized the need for individualized spaces across the bridge that cater to different groups and their different activities. The curvature of our pedestrian bridge design creates opportunities for these different activities. For example, around the towers on either side, the walkway widens into a larger plaza where vendors can set up and street musicians can stage small performances. Another example is the smaller curved-out spaces along the bridge. Using the river as a metaphor, we describe these zones as “eddies,” where people can pause and congregate to take photos. Down the center walkway, we have preserved the wooden boardwalk and are thinking of ways to preserve the history of the bridge as a whole. Ultimately wed love the bridge to be a catalyst for the formation of a greenway through the heart of NYC, creating a network of cultural sites and public spaces spanning the Bronx, Manhattan, and Brooklyn. - @van_alen on Instagram

شهادت مظلوم ترین خلبان ارتش 👆 مغز متفکر نیروی هوایی و جوان ترین استاد خلبان ارتش شاهنشاهی که صدام دستور داد بدنش رو به دو نیم کنند امیر سرلشكر شهید سيد علي اقبالي دوگاهه زاده 7مهر 1328 اهل رودبار در تاریخ اول آبان ماه 1359 که مصادف با عید قربان بود، به عنوان ليدر يك دسته دو فروندي هواپيماي F-5، با هدف بمباران يكي از پادگان هاي نظامي عراق به نام پادگان «العقره» در نزديكي مرز مشترك ايران، تركيه و عراق، به همراه همرزم دلاورش«ستوان خلبان شفيع حسين پور» از پايگاه هوايي تبريز به هوا برخاست. پس از رسيدن به هدف، شهید اقبالی قسمت شرقی پادگان را هدف قرار داد و مثل همیشه، هدف را به خوبی نابود کرد. ستوان حسين پور نيز قسمت غربی پادگان را هدف قرار داد. پادگان «العقره» در آتش و دود ميسوخت و شهيد اقبالي و همرزمش، خوشحال و سربلند، آسمان عراق را ترك ميكردند، اما هنوز بمب رها نشدهاي وجود داشت و هدف ديگري در پيش رو؛ رادار منطقه هوايي موصل. راداري استراتژيك كه بارها اميد همرزمانش را به يأس مبدل كرده بود وپرندههاي آهنين بالشان را نشانه رفته بود. بايد انتقام ميگرفت؛ به دنبال بمباران موفق و متهورانه تجهيزات عظيم راداري دشمن، هواپيمايش به شدت مورد اصابت موشك قرار گرفت. شهيد با دانش وسيع پروازي و مهارت بينظيرش هواپيماي آسيب ديده را تا سي كيلومتري مرز ايران رساند. سرانجام هواپيما سرنگون و خلبان جوان مجبور به خروج اضطراری شد. وي در حالی که زنده به اسارت مزدوران عراقی درآمده بود، به دلیل ضربات مهلکی که نیروی هوایی ارتش جمهوري اسلامي ايران در نخستین ماه جنگ بر پیکر ماشین جنگی عراق وارد نموده بود و عملا آن را زمینگیر کرده بود، برای ایجاد رعب و وحشت در بین سایر خلبانان كشورمان، برخلاف تمامي موازین انسانی و موافقت نامه های بین المللی رفتار با اسرا، به فجيعترين و بيرحمانه ترين وضع به شهادت رسید به دستور صدام بدنش به دو نیم شدبه طوری که نیمی از پیکر مطهرش در نینوا و نیمی در موصل عراق مدفون شد. این جنایت به حدی وحشیانه بود که رژیم بعثی در تلاشي بيشرمانه براي سرپوش گذاشتن بر اين جنایت تا مدتها از وی اظهار بی اطلاعی میکرد . #ایرلاینهای_داخلی #ایرلاینهای_خارجی #تور_داخلی #تور_خارجی #ماهان_ایر #ایران_ایر #پرواز_چارتری #هواپیمایی_آتا #ایرباس۳۲۰ - @aeroplane.airline on Instagram
