Quite a while later, my friend johnny gave me richo’s lectures to listen to. We were at mermaid ranch in east hampton, nyc and I was set up in the living room with an ironing board as my desk and keyboard stand. I was working on a completely different song (which didn’t make this record) and I just scrapped my vocals and started listening to david’s words over the music. So here I am behind the scenes at the last @insidecrochet shoot, dressing the gorgeous @miamauge in one of my own creations. I’m a texiles designer, craft stylist and consultant, editor, author and teacher and I am the mother of two wonderful girls. Not long ago during my travels in Turkey, I received a rude awakening of how brutal some men behavior can be towards traveling solo women. The primitive mind doesnt accept adventure, independence, and curiosity. I had my freedom to leave safely. And whilst she was completely open to the possibility of magic, she held her feet firmly on the ground – knowing that having hope and believing was only half the battle and hard work, dedication and courage made up the rest. And so, she lived life as it was meant to be lived – to the fullest and with the utmost respect for herself and others. It did not matter that she was not everyone’s idea of “right” and, frankly, she was thankful that she wasn’t – for she was purely and honestly herself and that is its own kind of perfection.
