Our September issue is out now! On the cover this month is British-Nigerian designer @yinka_ilori’s Project Earth installation for @theofficialselfridges that features three shops windows called ‘Dedications to Earth’ - each one offering a view of a natural landscape created using every day materials. The installations also evoke messages of hope. The cover features sun-disks, each one “dedicated to every new sunrise that gives us a chance to make a change”. The cover is also part of this month’s Colour Issue, which explores the nature of colour within design, architecture and art - be it to enhance a narrative, express a culture, or entice a sense of hope and positivity. Still hard to believe I made it all the way to London to work for visionary publisher @nicklogan⠀ ⠀ Privileged to have rubbed elbows daily with so many brilliant people like: David Bradshaw, Karl Templer, Nick Sullivan, Katie Grand, Lee Swillingham, Stuart Spalding, and Greg Williams to name a few. ⠀ ⠀ Props to Ashley Heath: Charming, brilliant, engaging guy who cultivated an approach to journalism & style that not only influenced a generation of men but made a huge impact in media where no Bi-Annuals existed before Homme+ The visionary publications he produced not only recorded what was going on in culture, but also played a part in progressing it. Dude is funny as fuck and majorly underrated. ⠀ ⠀ Worked on 8 issues before taking the helm of the monthly Edition. Before being sold to EMap I was the only American creative to work for Wagadon. Kinda gotta puff my chest out about that💥💪🏼💥 ⠀ ⠀ #Funfact the origins of the title All Killer, No Filler” came from an old Stüssy T-shirt had growing up. Jennie C. Jones “Unit Structures #1” (2019—20) departs from Jones’ characteristic muted gray palette of the last decade to draw upon a range of red hues made available by a specialty acoustic textile manufacturer. Like the intervals of jazz, the related bright and muted tones hit moments of dissonance and harmony through their repetition and variation. Central to Jones’ work since the 1990s is the uncovering of hidden histories of the avant-garde—in particular, bringing to light the contributions made by artists of color, particularly to Modernism and Minimalism.
