“Strange Attractors” 24 October 2020 – 3 May 2021 Tate St Ives This autumn Tate St Ives will stage Strange Attractors, the UK’s largest exhibition to date by celebrated South Korean artist Haegue Yang. Yang is renowned for creating immersive environments from a diverse range of materials. Her sculptures and installations often use industrially made objects, interwoven with labour-intensive and craft-based processes. These processes reflect pagan cultures and their deep connection with various seasonal rituals in relation to natural phenomena. The exhibition’s title – Strange Attractors – is a concept taken from mathematics and relates to complex patterns of behaviour in chaotic natural systems. Taking this theory as a starting point, Yang’s exhibition creates an environment in which uncanny and seemingly disparate ideas, cultures, relations and time periods coexist. For the first time at Tate St Ives, the exhibition will be staged across both the top-lit gallery in the new building and the spectacular sea-facing gallery in the original building. Yang will transform these two spaces into an open-ended exploration of geometry, abstraction and the aftermath of modernism. The new gallery will be divided by free-standing triangular wall structures. The perforation of these walls is based on a traditional geometric ‘whirlwind’ textile pattern from the Philippines. Opening up sightlines across the room, the permeable wall structures articulate the entire gallery space and cut a diagonal passageway across the centre, where Sonic Half Moons encased with patterns of nickel and brass plated bells are suspended. The architectural wall surfaces are also treated in three different modes: wallpapered, patterned with door knobs, and empty. The paper collage series Trustworthies will be installed on the blank walls and the expansive wallpaper Non-Linear and Non-Periodic Dynamics will host the small-scaled Lacquer Paintings. Three years ago, we set out to develop our firm’s first Corporate Social + Environmental Responsibility Report (CSER). Through this process, we received feedback from our own staff about the ways we collected data on staff gender expression and sexual orientation through our All Staff Survey. We uncovered blind spots in our understanding who our staff are and how they wish to be identified. As a result, we expanded the language and terminology available in our survey to be more inclusive.⁣ ⁣ In honor of Pride Month, we would like to share a sneak peek of some data from our forthcoming 2019 CSER report coming out next month, to demonstrate steps we are taking to support our LGTBQIA+ staff to fully show up as themselves and be counted in this important data set. After 10 successful editions and while fully prepared for the 11th edition of Ventura Projects during Milan Design Week 2020, Ventura Projects is no longer feasible. Both Ventura Centrale and Ventura Future had to be cancelled due to the global COVID-19 outbreak. Unfortunately, these cancellations have had a massive and irreversible impact on the company. Margriet Vollenberg, founder and art director of Ventura Projects, sadly had to make the impossible and heartbreaking decision to stop all Ventura Projects activities, meaning that the Ventura Projects events, organised by @organisationindesign, will no longer be on show during Milan Design Week and other international design events in the future. We look back with tremendous pride and gratitude on what we have been able to accomplish in the international design world. With more than 7000 exhibitors, we have been able to present countless ground-breaking and incredible solutions. We sincerely hope that the energised atmosphere of global design events will return soon. Reaching Out is my first individual full figure representation of a woman, and one of very few public sculptures of a Black woman in the UK (one of the first being a short distance from where I grew up). This new work, depicting a young woman standing holding a mobile phone in both hands, continues a theme of balancing experiences of isolation and connectedness, whilst acknowledging the different ways in which technology mediates our lives. . Reaching Out celebrates London’s diversity and explores multiple themes of contemporary relevance; from the debate about representation, to social isolation and the complex relationship we have with technology. Reaching Out is a work about the contradictory connectedness and isolation of modern life and a bold statement in public art which both invites and opens-up discussion on issues of pressing social relevance. . Price has consistently explored representations of Black characters in his work and in Reaching Out he plays with both the values society ascribes Black womanhood and preconceptions of what public sculpture should represent. At 9ft tall, the scale is deliberately larger than life and whilst the pose carries an echo of the neo-classical, Reaching Out is deliberately un-triumphant, instead countering the expectations of monumental sculpture associated with historical depictions of white men. When SA Foxx took office in 2017, she inherited one of the most punitive States Attorneys Offices (SAO) in the country. Over the last three-and-a-half years, Foxx’s administration has made progress toward ending some of the most damaging practices of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, but more must be done to switch the SAO’s culture to prioritize justice over punishment. 29 августа было для меня важным днем. Я проходила обучение по технике PBT. @progressingballettechnique И это безусловно стоило всех затраченных сил, средств и жизненных перемен. Это уникальная, шикарная для работы, для поддержания здоровья, для реабилитации, для формы и безусловно для выявления своих слабых мест техника!!! Чтобы кто ни думал, это очень сложно и крайне полезно. Теперь я точно могу говорить: проверено на себе. Мне хватает опыта понять даже с одного раза, что это работает и что это необходимо!!! Но!!! Сейчас очень важный момент!!! Сразу оговорюсь, что это мое субъективное мнение!!! Я не считаю возможным сейчас сразу идти набирать группу, даже базового уровня и начинать преподавать!!! Лично для меня это в корне не верно!!! Пока я сама не пройду каждую ступень каждого уровня, пока я не прочувствую все на себе и не достигну достаточного результата, я не позволю себе этого. Пол года, а лучше год, это точно!!! Как показывала всё Александра Тимофеева, это дорогого стоит!!! Мало того, что это красиво, это крайне понятно!!! Ты точно видишь, к чему нужно стремиться!!!! Если не так, то не берись учить!!! Особенно он-лайн!!! Эта та же история с тем, как берутся обучать хореографии отучившись 4 года в каком-то вузе, связанном с искусством, где больше было теории и ни дня не проработав в театре. Поэтому меня ждет путь освоения, путь проб и ошибок и самосовершенствования и я рада этому!!! Я Благо💗дарю Марию Соколову @sokolovaballet и Александру Тимофееву за то, что привезли нам эти потрясающие знания и что передают их всем желающим!!! Я считаю, что это наше будущее, что это позволит продлить сценический век артиста. Папирус (выс. 260 см). В этой работе сошлись несколько тем исследований. Вертикаль, оболочка, внутреннее и внешнее. Сам мотив взят из природы и напоминает какой-то скрученный лист. Некоторые даже думают, что это реальный природный артефакт, и это радует.) Однако я не могу не рассказать о тех скрытых смыслах, которые присутствуют в этой работе. Ну во первых сама идея вертикали. Присутствие вертикали в жилом пространстве является неким ментальным и эмоциональным камертоном, обозначающим вектор мыслительных процессов, чувств и событийности. То есть это некий указатель куда двигаться. Далее мы видим что это не просто динамическая форма, а одновременно и оболочка скрывающая и приоткрывающая внутреннее содержание. Отсюда и название Папирус отсылающее к каким-то древним сакральным свиткам. A Message of Hope:⁣ ⁣ This message is for everyone...for those of you with Emotional Authority...for those of you with a Open Solar-Plexus...and for everyone who is growing to understand the true power of emotions.⁣ ⁣ I’m not big on Prophecy because I don’t place much value in the exact time of a prediction about anything. I believe that the qualitative aspects of destiny are what to pay attention to, less the timing. Timelines are always changing in large part because we have the free will to make different decisions and co-create our reality according or not according to plan.⁣ ⁣ But I’ve found the precision and accuracy of Human Design to be so utterly life-changing for me that I don’t know how NOT to believe Ra’s prophecy of 2027. I’ve fallen into a familiar trap of believers, and if it’s true, I believe it goes something like this:⁣ ⁣ In 2027, Gate 55 will shift to program all newborns with Spirit Consciousness. What does that mean?⁣ ⁣ Currently, the Solar-Plexus is our Center of spiritual awareness. Like any good yogi, I teach that the breath is the vehicle of your Emotional Wave. Breathing draws in and draws out the full experience of your emotions to completion. Within that process is your spiritual awareness - the expansive feeling of your aura beyond physical limitations, even if it is fleeting.⁣ ⁣ I believe that Spirit Consciousness is something much greater than that, though we all might describe it a little bit differently. Spirit Consciousness will eventually usher in a new consensus reality - one based on the internal identity knowing that it is a Spirit embodied - and that it is driving a human vehicle on a journey through this Matrix called Earth (as in Ra’s car analogy). ⁣ ⁣ Imagine everyone KNOWING that! ⁣ ⁣ Why does this matter?⁣ ⁣ I believe it matters because the knowing of Spirit Consciousness simultaneously connects you to knowing the Collective Consciousness - The Oneness - and the interrelatedness and interdependence of all things.⁣ ⁣ If everyone could actually sense this interconnectedness all the time, what do you think humans would be capable of? Daar onder meer besproken dat we nu zien dat we in de afgelopen twee weken meer patiënten hebben gekregen, maar relatief gezien is het op de intensive care iets rustiger. Nu liggen er meer mensen op de ‘normale’ afdeling. Zorgen over genoeg bedden zijn er, maar dat komt ook omdat we gebrand zijn om de reguliere zorg door te laten gaan. We willen nu dus twee dingen, dus dat zorgt voor een ‘spanningsveld’, maar we zijn veel beter voorbereid dan de eerste keer, dus er wordt nu hard gewerkt, maar we zijn er ook klaar voor. Wat we ook merken is dat we te weinig verpleegkundigen hebben. Toen wij dertig, veertig jaar de IC hebben ingericht hadden we heel veel verpleegkundigen en weinig dokters. Nu hebben we meer dokters en weinig verpleegkundigen. We hebben heel veel mooie, innovatieve projecten, die ons kunnen helpen om de zorg anders te gaan doen, zodat we minder mensen nodig hebben. Niet zozeer omdat we minder mensen nodig hebben, maar zodat de mensen die er zijn écht empathische zorg kunnen leveren. Er écht kunnen zijn voor de patiënten, het gesprek aangaan met de familie. Dat willen we nog meer optimaliseren. Ik denk dat we dat hebben laten liggen de laatste tien jaar. Ik denk dat we een beetje lui zijn geworden de laatste tien jaar. Today, Play Bigger Co-Founder Dave Peterson joined 6sense’s Latane Conant and Heinz Marketing’s Matt Heinz for their weekly webinar called CMO Coffee Talk: Leading, Communicating and Selling. Dave led two high-paced, caffeine-fueled talks about category design and creation for nearly 150 CMOs and marketing pros.
