Hoy hicimos entrega al Zoológico de las Delicias, Edo Aragua una pareja de Jaguares (Phantera onca) incautados (trafico de fauna silvestre) el 31 de junio en Barinas por equipos de Guardería Ambiental y el Ministerio Público y los cuales fueron entregados para su resguardo al @miecosocialismo en el Parque la Federación de @inparquesoficial Los ejemplares (macho y hembra) pesaron 20 kg y 17,8 kg respectivamente y se encuentran en perfecto estado de salud. Reminding myself that just because not every piece of produce gets consumed or preserved by a human, its not necessarily wasted...🤷 ⚖️ Ive brought in compost to amend our hard packed clay soil and the mountains of wood chips from a local arborist will keep the weeds down and build the soil, as well, but the goal is a (mostly) closed loop system ♻️ with the least amount of waste as possible. Chickens eat our food scraps and garden extras and turn it into eggs to eat 🥚 and 💩 to fertilize the garden and support more produce. Their eggshells get fed back to them for calcium and what they dont eat gets put in the compost with their bedding, adding that calcium to the soil. ⚖️ These girls are crucial to our little ecosystem and I love them for it 💚 Although, Im not sure 8 really is enough...🤔 - @libra.farms on Instagram

ترکیب دانه ذرت بخش های عمده دانه ذرت پری کارپ و مغز دانه (Kernel) میباشد. پری کارپ یا پوسته بخش بیرونی دانه را تشکیل می دهد و کل دانه را در برابر تغییرات محیطی، حشرات، عوامل پاتوژن یا بیماری زایی که میتوانند به دانه حمله کنند، محافظت میکند. مغز دانه ذرت نیز از دو بخش آندوسپرم و جنین یا رویان (germ) ساخته شده است. نکته جالب این است که آندوسپرم منبع اصلی انرژی ذخیره شده در دانه ذرت می باشد. به طوری که نشاسته، پروتئین و و روغن ذخیره شده در آندوسپرم منبع انرژی برای حیوانات قلمداد می شود. جنین یا رویان نیز بخش زنده دانه می باشد و حاوی آنزیم ها، ویتامین ها، مواد معدنی و همچنین اطلاعات ژنتیکی یا وراثتی (اسیدهای نوکلئیک) می باشد.همچنین با توجه به اختلاف های ژنتیکی موجود در دانه ذرت، میتوان گفت که تقریا ۲۵ درصد از رویان یا جنین دانه ذرت از روغن تشکیل شده است که این روغن غنی از اسیدچرب لینولئیک می باشد. اسید لینولئیک یکی از عوامل تاثیر گذار بر اندازه تخم مرغ می باشد به طوری که این اسید میتواند منجر به بهبود اندازه تخم مرغ شود. به طور کلی ۶۸ درصد از ماده خشک ذرت را نشاسته به خود اختصاص می دهد و ۸ درصد از ماده خشک دانه ذرت را پروتیین خام تشکیل میدهد. همچنین روغن و سلولز به ترتیب ۴ و ۲٫۵ درصد از ماده خشک دانه ذرت را به خود اختصاص داده اند. بین مقدار نشاسته دانه ذرت و پروتیین و روغن آن رابطه عکس وجود دارد، به طوری که با افزایش مقدار نشاسته دانه ذرت از مقدار پروتیین و روغن دانه ذرت کاسته می شود که این کاهش در روغن شدیدتر می باشد. در ذرت دو نوع پروتین به نام های زئین و گلوتلین یافت می شود. باید به این نکته اشاره کنیم که در دانه ذرت مقداز پروتئین زئین خیلی بیشتر از گلوتلین می باشد و به عبارت بهتر پروتئین اصلی دانه ذرت “زئین” می باشد که متاسفانه ترکیب اسیدهای آمینه موجود در ان برای طیور مناسب نمی باشد. به طوری که زئین از نظر دو اسید آمینه ضروری لیزین و تریپتوفان فقیر می باشد. اما مقدار اسیدهای آمینه زئین و تریپتوفان در گلوتلین زیاد می باشد. اما متاسفانه مقدار گلوتلین در خود دانه ذرت اندک می باشد و به همین دلیل دانه ذرت از نظر لیزین و تریپتوفان فقیر می باشد. بنابراین چنانچه جیره طیور بر پایه ذرت و سویا نوشته شود در آن صورت ممکن است مکمل سازی جیره با لیزین ضروری باشد. #گوسفند#گوسفند_افشاری #گوسفند_بازار #گوسفندان #گوسفند_رومانوف #گوسفند_شال #گوسفند_زنده #هتروزیگوت #هترو#هموزیگوت #همو#گوسفند_شال#سیمینتال_اصیل #کنسانتره#فالوور_رایگان #سگ#بز#سانن#مورسیا#بز_پاکستانی_اصیل #بز_آلپاین#گا - @sheepfarm.qazvin on Instagram

After market Saturday, we drove back east to the farm, unloaded everything and then reloaded the truck with every empty crate we could fine..gunned it back west to the ferry, made it onto the ferry without a reservation and headed to Cobble hill to untie and bring home the other half of our garlic! It turned out to be a two day affair, so we slept overnight in the back of the truck with the crates of garlic we took down the first day. Looks like we have just short of 1000lbs back here! It’s been an epic month and this was likely the height of it all. We’re waiting in line at Swartz bay to come back home to the farm in time to harvest for the CSA, fill orders, do some field work and get ready for another market weekend! This past Sunday we called out to our community for hands. To help us create our next phase. And boy did they show up. I think I might still be in shock that 25 of our regulars, friends and family took their day of rest and worked their asses off for us. Three and half years ago we built this place with a small village. That village has grown beyond what I could ever have imagined. And they showed up. I would never have imagined we would be in this place. Building an outdoor restaurant so we can keep going. But here we are. And we aren’t giving up yet. This has been months in the making. This looks like a messy barn (because it is) but you’ll notice there are lights in it! I completed a 4-year goal today and finished wiring the barn for power. Our neighbor Jason helped with the panel install early this spring and I’ve been plotting my attack all summer. This weekend Bubba was gone and so were the kids (thanks Mom!) and I worked my tail off pulling wire, installing fixtures, running conduit. This afternoon Jason came back and helped me with the final switching and checks before we turned the breakers on. And it all works! I’ve never wired something this complex before so it is a giant sense of accomplishment and I’m so excited to finally unplug those massive extension cords from the end of the shop that have been precariously powering our barn for the last 4 years. We’ve been homesteading for 6 months now and so far all the animals (minus our sheep eating the grass) have been a bunch of free loaders 😂 but two weeks ago we got our first egg! While we’re pretty sure only one chicken is laying this is a big step towards living a self sufficient life. When we decided to do this lifestyle shift we gave ourselves a three year goal of being 80% self sufficient so while getting farm fresh eggs seems like a minor thing, it’s huge for us! Of course raising our own livestock isn’t the only thing that will help us in the journey to our goal, but we also know that we only have so much time and not to bite off more than we can chew - so this year is livestock. Next year is produce (honey, garden, greenhouse, maybe a cellar, etc). If you could cut out the middle man somewhere in your life, where would it be?! - @jeanadreed on Instagram

Die abendliche Stallarbeit, Kälber versorgen, Futtertisch- und Liegeboxenpflege, Kühe nachmelken ect. gehören zu meinen Aufgaben. Let’s not get this twisted: these are my daughter’s chickens. She is their chicken mama, and I am grandma: I just supply the treats. (Read: slugs 🐌) . Their chicken coop was built by her and her dad, and it’s (coincidentally) become the centerpiece of the view from my desk. So I watch these ladies bock-bock around all day as they get ready to give us eggs (any day now!). It’s kind of a lovely and grounding structure to look out on, nestled into the green. We are told in art training that it’s important to rest the eyes and every so often to pull away from the close-up of the page you’re working on and look out at a long distance. So I gaze at the chickens. . They are SO SOFT! You’d never guess it but their feathers are like silk. They’re also iridescent. #meetyourfarmer Intro #2 Ayla (pronounced A-La) - this kid loves to love. She is gentle and kind and fiercely protective of her little brother. Shes turning into an excellent chicken catcher and has no fear jumping in with the pigs to help move them or show them cool hiding places that shes found. Since she was two she has been the one to grab our pig bucket from the house (veg scraps), March outside, call them down from the field and make sure that everyone gets a treat. She loves helping to put the chickens away at the end of the day and has started teaching Zekey so they can become a tag team on night chores. Last year she planted her first serious plants and cared for them until she found homes for each one. I trust her to weed a garden bed appropriately, without pulling any important plants, more than most people who have worked for us. She is tough as nails and soft as a Lily all rolled into one. As more people learn about turkeys, their unique personalities and how so many of them are raised in factory farms, more of us are choosing to leave them off our Thanksgiving tables. These curious and intelligent birds will roam an area as large as 500 acres, live in stable social groups, and know each other as individuals. Wild mother turkey hens have strong maternal instincts, watching closely over their brood for several months. On today’s factory farms though, newly hatched turkeys never see their mothers. They are born in hatcheries and transported to industrial factory farms when they are only a day old. Unlike their wild counterparts, the turkeys found on most dinner tables never had the opportunity to feel the sun or breathe fresh air. They spend their lives in windowless warehouses, bred and fed to be obese. Their young bones strain under their own weight, causing chronic leg and joint pain and other issues. With each bird allotted only a few square feet of space, they become increasingly cramped as they quickly reach market weight. After suffering all this, at only three or four months old, the birds are sent to slaughter. For these and other reasons, countless Americans are choosing to celebrate Thanksgiving Day with a meat-free meal. By putting aside the requisite slice of turkey, we can make room on our plate for what we really love — the side dishes. As a pediatrician and mother, I’m balancing privilege and pain through this pandemic. I always tell families they deserve to grieve without guilt. But it’s hard to practice what I preach. Prisons are literally crumbling infrastructure, built to handle in many cases half the capacity we as a society agree to house inside the walls. Pre-pandemic state prisons were overcrowded and ill prepared to handle the sheer volume of people, let alone the needs of these folks and their families. There is no coherent plan or principle in place as regards tbe purpose of incarceration, so how can we truly evaluate what goes on in our prisons? In Ohio we say the department is of Rehabilitatoon AND Correction - what are the actual bench marks of success given these two words? As taxpayers should we not evaluate the massive expenditures of the state? Shouldnt a mark of success be less people behind bars, rather than more people staying longer? Shouldnt it be more money spent on transformative programs and education, on staff training and edification so we can rise above us vs them, or on diversion and alternstives in the first place? This is not an easy post to write . Sadly, the first attempt at pastured poultry ended last night . A predator dug under and got inside a fox? Coyote? Fischer? Badger? Raccoon? .. I won’t post the other pictures .. it seems in some areas there isn’t a predator ground issue. Sadly , our area is different and we found out the hard way. WATER QUALITY UPDATE: Today at @cityofmiami Commission I took things a step further to real action against water pollution. This outfall was found to be polluted by four construction sites in Brickell within a few blocks. Four Notices of Violations were issued w minimal fines this week. The result is no change. Turns out, Austin has been exactly what I’ve needed to feel calm and get centered to make a decision based on passion and love. I have signed a contract that will be the start of a very big change in my life. I will return to Mercy, but only part time. I will have 20 weeks off a year to focus on Path of Logic, bikes, and supporting @paysonmcelveen’s crazy bike career. Since I’ve been 19, I’ve worked full-time in a healthcare setting. Over the past 5 years I’ve spent almost all of my time working on Path of Logic. I am excited to not only have more time to be there but also to have time to focus on other things that make me happy. I’m not looking forward to being in the lab alone, and my heart is broken that others weren’t as fortunate as I during this reshuffle. Weve been following the work of Chantel Johnson of @offgridincolor, and we’re sharing bits of her journey here on our social media channels. We want our followers - and our extended NC community - to understand what a big deal it is for a young, Black female to be jumping into livestock production. A century ago, close to 15% of farmland in the country was owned and operated by Black farmers. Today, that figure is less than 2%.The same holds true for North Carolina, where only 2% of farmland is Black-owned. Why such a small percentage? Years of institutionalized racism, discrimination, violence, and intimidation have kept Black people out of farming. Federal agencies, especially the US Department of Agriculture, have a long and well-documented history of discrimination. With denied credit and without the extension programs granted to white farmers, Black farmers couldn’t scale up and modernize. As a result, poverty in rural Black communities is now twice that of rural white communities. Chantel is working hard to overcome that legacy.
