2 years on Kinobody and Luke completely transformed his body. Dropping 40 lbs of fat and putting on lean muscle, Luke has went from 185 lbs to 145 lbs shredded. Takes a bit to sign up because they do a background check and a tax form, but you can get started immediately after you finish signing up. A lot of places arent hiring anymore because of reduced hours and less customer traffic, so this is a good alternative. And Postmates doesnt pay as well and isnt as widely used, so go with doordash. So I’ve never done this for 2 reasons: 1) I never wanted to be THAT guy & 2) I never truly reached my personal goal, so I never thought what I had achieved was worth sharing Early in the year I was drinking often, eating terribly, & gained a lot of weight. I also received bad health news & underwent a few procedures that made me think twice about the decisions I was making & life I wanted to live (Doing better now don’t worry). At the beginning of quarantine I started slacking & eating poorly again after making so much progress following my health scare. I was faced with an obstacle: give up, get fat, & go back to what got me in trouble again or take advantage of the quarantine & finally take my health & fitness seriously. I chose the second option. 3 months later & I’ve officially lost 37lbs & 7.1% of my total body fat %. I’m so proud of myself, but this is not my end goal. I want to build more muscle, slim down more, & earn more abs. I know now this is a journey & a slow process, but I am excited to keep venturing through it. I truly hope this is an inspiration & lesson to all of you, because I never thought I would actually take & post an after photo. If you know me, you know how many times I’ve tried & failed, how close I’ve gotten, & the dad bod jokes & excuses I end up making. I have 7 years of before photos in an album & finally got to 1 after! Don’t give up. If you want to change, just do it. You & your excuses are the only thing stopping you. Ask for help if you need it. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without such an incredible support group. My fitness guru & homie Nakoa for teaching me the right things to do, my boss & great friend Gregg for the inspiration & get up, get out, get healthy motto, my mom who put up with me blasting music & being a picky eater, my loser brother for challenging me & keeping me in check, the late Kobe Bryant for Mamba Mentality, the entire Fitness Challenge group, & friends & family who supported me. So excited to be competing in my first National NPC show in 4 weeks in Pittsburgh!!! He weighed 265#. He was eating barely anything. So. He needed to loose weight right? But if eating less was truly accurate of weight loss, then how could he eat less than 900 Cals ? 😳 And not suffer malnutrition? He was already malnourished, his metabolism was at a dead stop. I just realized I passed 2000 days since I quit drinking. 26 days passed actually. It is amazing that it’s been months since I opened that app, because the first couple days I literally watched this app count every minute. And now 2000 days later I can pass such a milestone without even thinking about it. Back then I couldn’t understand what would fill the void of drinking and all the fun that came from it. It turns out that it got filled with success, happiness and satisfaction. I remember wondering if life even mattered and it turns out that it does. Addiction will play all sorts of fucked up games with your mind to keep you around. But even though sobriety seemed so hard and success so far, neither turned out to be the case. All I had to do was hang on for the one minute I had right now and then stay in the moment. Watching it count made every moment count. I remember after I hit Day 12 and realized that it was the longest I had ever gone without drinking as an adult I knew I was going to stay sober. Not because of the 12 days, but by staying in the moment during those minutes of those days I became strong against the pull and now had a streak to protect. If you are suffering, you don’t need to conquer or overpower addiction.. just stay in the moment. You only have to win this one minute. The previous minute was harder than this one and the next will be easier. Temptation will come, but you will be stronger in that moment because of the courage you earned from the last one. Courage is like a muscle, it strengthens with use and every minute, every rep makes you more prepared for the next. Remember, you are so much closer to success than your mind is telling you. This is what happens when you struggle with body image and never think you look good enough. When you start pushing yourself during a lockdown to do a “28 Day Exercise Challenge,” because you think you need to lose a few pounds. Somewhere along the line you injure yourself, hurt your foot- your plantar fascia (what IS that anyway??). So you stop the exercise but you ignore the injury and keep going, keep being a mom and a wife and walking the dog two miles a day. The foot never heals (but you SWEAR it will, one of these days- it’s fine, everything is fine). Finally you just can’t take it anymore, so after 6 months of pain you go to the doctor and find that the ligaments in your foot are torn and scar tissue has built up. Now you have a soft cast on and shouldn’t walk at all for a while (how is that even possible as a mom??). And even as you sit here typing this, you feel guilty complaining, and worry that you’re not getting enough exercise, just lying around, off your feet. So my question is, when do we ever accept ourselves as good enough? When do we learn to love the skin we’re in and stop seeing distorted images of ourselves when we look in the mirror? I hope I’ve learned from this. I hope I can accept myself for who I am and realize that I actually injured myself trying to be something “better” and “thinner” than I already was. I hope I can look at my own photos someday and realize I was already good enough, thin enough, pretty enough. Today marks a milestone! 500 Days LIQUOR FREE!! I haven’t posted anything for a while about my sobriety as I felt I would never have to count the days had I not spend so much time wasting days drunk or high.... I felt disappointed in myself for “wasting so much tome and money”. Previous to this the longest I’d gone was 72 days, and when I slipped I SLAMMED.... literally..... I guzzled a 26er straight from the bottle. I was beat, broken, and felt like there was no light at the end my tunnel, and often said things like “if I make it to 30 I had a good run”.... So Here I sit, 35, with most all my goals accomplished, a incredible family, a supportive wife, heathy happy children, a successful business doing what I always dreamed I would, fuck we even have ‘a place at the lake’...... Have the last 500 days been easy? HELL NO! It’s been hard work every single day to tell myself I am WORTH IT, I DESERVE TO BE HAPPY, and MY PAST DOES NOT DEFINE ME. I don’t say this nearly as much as I should but today I AM PROUD OF MYSELF. Lets normalize ALL postpartum bodies. Whether you bounce back or your body takes its time. You just did such a beautiful time and I know it can be so hard to adjust to another new body type. In these stages of motherhood and pregnancy your body changes a lot and fast but now is the time to give yourself grace. When I left the hospital with Emma I thought I would have bounced back and be ready to wear normal clothes again, little did I know I would look about 6 months pregnant still. This time I went into things knowing that my body will have stretch marks, it will be soft and that my body personally takes time to get back to “normal”. Understand that plateaus happen, take a breath, and push harder! Our bodies get comfortable with our routine. Look into your diet, go harder longer on your workouts. Push your body to start moving and losing again! It’s all within your power to do so. 8.) Be proud of every little accomplishment! Celebrate your victories, you are a badass!!! 9.) Accept your flaws. 10 weeks is all it takes. I didnt starve myself (ate clean, counted macros), and I didnt work out like crazy (at-home workouts with exercise bands and 15 pound dumbbells). The @trainonmain Fit in 10 Challenge works so effectively, I lost the *exact* same amount of weight (28 lbs) and body fat (down 39%) in two and a half months as I did last year (see March 2019 post). I also finished the competition in a distant 2nd place... again...😬 .......... TL;DR: At the beginning of the lockdown, I was gaining weight fast. I was nearly the heaviest Id ever been (215 lbs) and was getting concerned Id soon need to buy a whole new wardrobe. After participating in The Challenge last year, I learned that a little friendly competition is the most powerful motivator for me. I made the commitment to the program developed by Coach Mark @theironsaint. I completed a 1-hour workout 5-6 days per week, and did some additional cardio intervals. Coach Martina @ifbbpromartinayabekova does such an awesome job of making these classes (done via Zoom) high-energy and fun, and keeping us accountable. Big thanks to both of them for helping all of us participants to make real change in our lives 🙏 The biggest challenge for me is the food. I found that in order for me to most effectively meet the macronutrient goals set out in the program, its best to eat simple, whole foods. Pureed vegetable soup, chicken lettuce wraps, etc. I was never hungry on this diet... In fact I got really tired of eating, and after a week, I no longer had cravings for carbs and sugar. Sticking to this every day is not easy, but keeping in mind that its only 10 weeks is what got me through it. Now that Im done, Im going to try to keep some these healthy habits going, but Im happy to reunite with my good friends: fried chicken, pizza, and beer. So if you know me, I have never been one for posting pics like this. A little over a month now, I have committed to a personal journey in the gym of self discipline, getting up early, consistently eating better, showing up on days I don’t want to be there, learning and overall gaining a better grasp of physical & mental growth amongst many reasons that has motivated me. The simple task was 90 days, then the next 90. What could I accomplish if I didn’t bullshit my way into excuses, and I actually put in the work? Today being the last day in August basically marks the first 30 days and stage 1 of 6. I have learned very quickly that health & wealth are so closely related, there is no substitute for putting in the work, and creating excuses doesn’t help the cause or bottom line. Client spotlight: 2 month transformation with my client/friend @cash_868 and the gains are coming in as projected. When Cash came to me he wanted to put on lean muscle, but also focus on performance (faster, stronger, etc..). Mind you for our first month gyms were closed and oh yea he practices a plant based diet. We do recover! Blessed and grateful to be clean and sober for 7 years today! I don’t have too many pictures from the drinking days anymore but on the left I think I’d been sober for 2 years already. And the right was from a few months ago. Without the people in my life that helped me recover I never would have found my passion for fitness, self development, and self care. I was in a very dark place 7 years ago, but others who had recovered showed me a new path. 7 years later I feel younger, more energetic, and more passionate and enthusiastic than ever before! Recovery is possible! I can’t tell anyone how to do it, but I can and am willing to share my own personal experience and journey! There is hope! Grateful to The program, my family for supporting me, @lifewithfish_ for being there with me and leading me on the first steps (well. All the steps haha). This Transformation Tuesday, I’m looking back! Not just back over these last few months since I’ve reclaimed my health but literally- looking at my back!! 💞 This weekend, I was feeling a little stuck and discouraged after failing against #75hard so I decided to scroll through some of my old pictures. I don’t like to dwell in the past but can be so hard on myself in the present that looking back helps inspire me to move forward. So today is day 30 only one cheat meal so far in the process. Started at 205lbs with stress eating and just kinda of a hopeless attitude about my body at the time.
