It was about 3am when I first got the call. I didnt have much information to go on other than a powerful psychic Pokemon had been stolen from an amusement park about 2 miles outside of Celadon City. The thieves were in custody after crashing into a street lamp 20 minutes up the road from the park. The police explained that the Pokemon was in fact, a Hypno, a powerful psychic Pokemon that specialized in mind manipulation and hypnosis. Its trainer was out of town on business and wouldnt be able to make it back until the morning. Thankfully I had friends who were leading researchers in psychic types abilities and had given me a device known as a Cortexigraph. It was headwear that allowed the user to block psychic waves, making any kind of mind manipulation null. I heard something rustling in the bushes. A shape emerged from the black and stepped into the light of the street lamps. It seemed relatively unharmed, if not shaken. It grasped a pendulum in its hand, something often given to captive Hypno to help focus their abilities. It suddenly raised its arms in a fluid motion and began to swing the pendulum. It was trying to use Hypnosis on me. At first, my vision began to narrow and my focus was pulled toward the Pokemon’s eyes. Psychedelic colors filled my peripherals and energy began to emanate from its hand. Very quickly the Cortexigraph kicked in and my vision returned to normal. Confused, the Pokemon tried harder but it had no effect. I held out the kibble on a flat palm, it hobbled forward and took the food from my hand. No fim da série, o povo Mikmaq começa a sofrer ataques dos missionários contra suas crianças, sua cultura, sua religião, seu idioma e seu território. No meio disso, Kakwet, que tinha sido levada, tenta voltar para seu povo, mas o destino dela fica em aberto. O castor, sendo um animal muito presente nas histórias e na cosmovisão Mikmaq, foi um animal que eu escolhi, após estudar um pouco sobre e ler de próprias produções Mikmaq, pra dar um final de esperança pra ela: O castor, enviado pelo Deus Glooscap, destruiria, com sua cauda, a escola dos missionários, resgataria Kakwet e as outras crianças, as guiaria de volta a seu povo e, então, levaria todos a um novo lugar seguro, protegido por Glooscap. Předmostí Site: Wolves and Mammoths. ••• In this Paleoart by Velizar Simeonovski, we see two protodog(?) sentinels protecting a camp from a Pleistocene lion. This camp is known today as the Předmostí site, and is in the modern day Czech Republic. The Předmostí site was inhabited by Gravettian peoples as early as ~27,000 years ago. The Gravettian were known for their stone tool industry, as it was pretty ubiquitous across Europe. The site is most known for its multiple mammoth bone structures, human burials, and intriguing canid remains; one of which had a mammoth bone placed in its mouth. According to a morphometric study conducted by Germonpré (2012), and a dental microware study by Prassack and Ungar (2020), a few of the canid crania were deemed statistically comparable to those of early dogs. The remaining canid crania that did not compare seem to be wolf/dog hybrids or captive wolves. Also some of these crania exhibit interesting postmortem modifications, suggesting some kind of cultural significance. Although genetic evidence seems to point to a later domestication date, it’s important to note that this site certainly yields significant evidence of wolf and human interaction during the time of or before domestication. Another interesting fact about this site is that the mammoth bones represent at least 1000 different individuals. (ONE THOUSAND different mammoths were recovered from this site). There were also a lot of fox bones recovered among the wolves and mammoths at the site, suggesting these people were hunting specifically for for furs. And apparently...they were really good at it. ••• What do you think these early interactions would’ve looked like way back? Were the wolves captive? Or did they just want a mammoth snacc?
