One of the most inspiring things Ive ever personally witnessed in my life is a handful of my friends being able to make a living exploring in the mountains. I was of part of the generation that saw skiing and snowboarding become an actual job for derelict teenagers and 20 somethings, and I was lucky enough to get adopted into the industry myself at the young age of 15. [ ] My friend Simon Dumont also started in this game at a young age, and as a result, hes one of the brothers that I will always have grown up too fast with. So many good Simon stories over the years and so interesting to really know someone well that is in the public light and perception. Theres so much I could say about Simon, hes a living legend, and watching his battles with my other good friend Tanner Hall over the years, was one of the most epic rivalries in sports. [ ] I was stoked to hear that Simon was starting a podcast, having been quite impressed with his reinvention of himself as a photographer after he hung up his helmet. Hes got access to quite an intriguing group of people, and they trust him and love him as do I. Im sure hes having some interesting conversations with folks, and its definitely worth a listen. Its an honor to be invited to take part in it and reminisce about the good all days. Iranian artists @icyandsot recently took off on another self-initiated mission, inspired by climate activist Greta Thunbergs work and the worldwide environmental movement she has started. Using the vast Californian desert landscape as a dramatic backdrop for their work and activists impactful speech as an alarming wake-up call, Saman and Sasan Oskouei created a riveting video titled Our House is on Fire. ⠀ ⠀ I want you to panic. I want you to act as if your house was on fire. @gretathunberg ⠀ ⠀ In some way turning Gretas inspiring words into poetic reality, Icy and Sot built a frame of an archetypal home and set it on fire. Allowing for the untouched surrounding nature to be seen between the blazing framework of the house, the artists suggest looking at the wider picture in which the Earth is our only home. The video shows the reversed footage of their installation being swallowed by flames and crumbling to the ground, creating an illusion of burning pieces of wood rising up and forming the familiar structure.
