Y de pronto ya es Agosto. Mi mes favorito! El que espero con ansias todo el año y disfruto día a día hasta que llega el 31. Cuando el Verano está en pleno fulgor. Y el calor me recuerda que ha pasado un año más, y que tengo que agregar una vela a mi pastel. Éste año ha sido tan diferente. Tan dramático, tan caótico!!! Nunca pensé en que viviría algo así. Se me han ido casi 6 meses como agua entre las manos. Sintiendo que el tiempo pasa y pasa y a la vez no avanza. Llevo casi 30 días sin publicar nada. Sin meterme en las redes. Sin tener ganas de compartir ni de ver nada. La verdad suena feo pero perdí la inspiración. No encontraba de qué hablar sin sentirme vana o vacía. Ésta pandemia me ha roto. Me ha cambiado. Ha transformado mi perspectiva de la vida. Antes ya era ritual que en Agosto planeara un viaje para festejar mi cumpleaños en un destino nuevo. Hoy, sólo quiero que ésto se acabe. Quiero salir al súper o caminar sin ver a todo mundo con cubrebocas sintiéndome en una película hollywoodense de catástrofes. Quiero reservar un vuelo a cualquier destino sin pensar en que hay restricciones y no se puede viajar o entrar a diferentes países. Quiero ir al gimnasio, a bailar, a un centro comercial, al cine, o al teatro y hacer todas esas cosas que hacía y disfrutaba antes sin planearlo. Quiero visitar a mi abuela, a mis primos, a mi familia y amigos y darles besos y abrazos sin que nadie se preocupe. Lo chistoso es que aún después de tantos meses así, haya gente egoísta que piensa que ésto no es serio y sigan sin creer que es real. Lamentablemente en mi familia hemos perdido ya a 3 familiares a causa de ésta enfermedad y duele mucho que no valoremos la vida como tal. De verdad no saben cómo deseo que ésto termine y que comencemos una nueva etapa como sociedad donde nos valoremos y cuidemos todos. Donde nos preocupemos por nuestro planeta, por el medio ambiente, por los animales y seamos más empáticos con los demás. No sé cuánto tiempo más falte para que acabe ésto. Yesterday was the day🎉 I’d be lying if I didn’t say this doesn’t feel real. Yesterday I closed on my second home. I never thought at 28 I’d be buying my second home, continuing to be a landlord on my first. Can I say I am in real estate yet? On a serious note- these are more than just keys to a home. I’m a believer we are a product of our experiences- good, bad, and different. We learn from them or we become them. This is proof to myself I’ve learned from them. This is not a story I’ve shared with most but I’m here now to begin sharing the pieces, the things that have shaped into to who I am, the things that have been hard, the things that make me vulnerable, that I always acted too strong to feel. Im going to try to keep it short- •When I was 17 there was tow truck outside of my dads house ready to repossess my car because he wasn’t paying on it, thank god I have the best mother in the world. •When I was 22 graduating college accepting my dream job I called to share the news, he laughed and told me the only reason I got that job was because of my mom. •When I was 23 at Christmas while all the kids got fun car parts, flat screen TVs, I opened up a book called “How to Manage Your Money” that was it. Can you say embarrassing? Ironic also, am I right? From the person who almost had my car repossessed. Lol yeah. I don’t think I ever once heard the words “I’m proud of you”. I questioned myself, my abilities, my worth for a long time. Were all these things this person that was supposed to be one of my biggest supporters telling me true? Was I actually capable? Was I smart? Was I deserving? Fast forward now, I’ve learned people like this do not deserve access to us. I am capable, I am deserving and I’ve worked my ass off to be standing here today buying my second home on my own. These keys are much more than keys- they are proof to myself that I am everything someone tried to tell I wasn’t and I am capable of creating the life I dream of for myself. Thirty, flirty and thriving! . This is far from the 30th I had envisioned for myself. I had originally wanted to explore the natural wonders of South America and to continue my solo travels, but then life as we know it happened. . So last year I archived my baptism pictures. Deleted any hint of Christianity in my bio, but for the most part tried my best to live out scripture because my heart could not escape it(which was so annoying at first lol) my spirthday became plagued with frustration and grief so I didn’t even acknowledge it. Year 2 was a year of aggressive wrestling, so year 3 bared all of its fruit. Recently I was asked what was the best day of my life and to be happily cliche- it really was the day I was plunged in the water. . . Let’s be real- I wear depression like I wear my skin. I’ve sat in rooms with gossip. I’ve seen men blame women for what they themselves inherently take no responsibility for. Women annihilating another woman’s potential with a smile and assumption. Dissected Idols in the very church culture that tells people not to have any. I’ve lied, I’ve played the churchy politics, and for a time spoke christanese fluently lol. . . Year 3 rang loudly with creating safe spaces. Year 3 was hearing the bravest confessions from strangers/friends and shutting down any form of manipulation. Year 3, was weeping at the simplicity of worship music lyrics. Year 3 was disappearing into finding biblical truth and breaking the language that was taught to me. Year 3 was remembering the people who were forgotten or treated as irredeemable. Year 3 came with combining the psychology of being human with the obedience of loving Jesus. . .
