My brother took his life 10 years ago. A few years later a faculty colleague in NC did the same. Then a student. Then another student. Then a brother of a student. Then a cousin of a student. Then a student‘s sister tried. My daughter‘s 4th grade class had to discuss as a child at another school who played sports with her school took his life. Suicide is a public health crisis no one is talking about. We don‘t know how. But the biggest help for many is simply having someone to talk to, someone to listen. So I am urging us to be open to conversations about suicide. It may help save a single life.
