Introducing Pietro Torsani aka Steel Mind the author of our first upcoming release, with his own words... ‘It was the end of the 70s and at that time Disco Music was very popular. I was in a band called Caelestium, and we were playing in the most important clubs in Italy. There were four of us in the band and to make up for the lack of musicians we did an extensive use of keyboards and synthetizers, trying to offer the listeners an acoustic feeling but being in the future. We were using instruments like the Polymoog, Moog Vocoder Moog, Prophet 5, Roland GR-500 Guitar and others. As well as a Revox A700 and an 8-track Otari tape recorder to save our ideas and then propose them to the CBS-CGD, the record label that released some of our productions. Our music was mainly modern disco with a commercial pop touch. A sound that was influenced by artists like Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Ultravox, Klaus Schulze and Brian Eno to name a few. Around the end of the 70s and beginning of the 80s, I started to feel the desire to make a different kind of sound and I decided to start my solo project creating songs like Boss Man and Lionel that were closer to the Krautrock style. Later on I started a collaboration with Giancarlo Meo, an important Italian producer, after he showed his interest in my music. He released the follow-up Bad Passion and Blue Desease for Vivien Vee. In 1983 I recorded Summer in the City, featuring the voice of Marisa Lucà, at that time singer of Caelestium. The song was never released before and I present it here for the first time for Tempo Dischi. Im happy that these songs, despite not having achieved a commercial success, have become a cult for many and this is thanks to all the DJs who have been playing them for years. Freedom!!! My brother, Robb, has just been discharged from the hospital after receiving his second stem cell transplant for bone marrow/blood cancer back on August 6. A few days ago, he was allowed outside of his room for the first time in 18 days so he could walk the hallway (within minutes our older brother, Steve, had doctored up this amazing image). This 2nd round handed Robb a pretty solid beating.
