Happy Monday from Douglas! Hello world! My name is DOUGLAS and I am so ready to get this party started! I came to HCH with a severe injury to my pelvis and my left rear leg. After several days of hospitalization to stabilize me, the medical team was able to amputate my left leg. For about a month now, the team has been doing physical therapy exercises and taking me on fun trips to the Rehab Nook for water therapy. My right leg is slowly building strength and every day I am using it better. The team said I am finally ready to start looking for my forever home! I am a little scared of bigger dogs, but would love a medium to small companion. Right now, I am looking for someone who will continue my physical therapy exercises and appointments at the Nook until I get the go ahead to do everything a normal dog can do. I also still need to be neutered, so what the shelter is letting me do is bust out of this place with someone that wants to add me to their family, but the official adoption will happen after I am neutered and get the go ahead from my physical therapist at the Nook. I absolutely LOVE all my care givers here, but I am starting to really pine for a family of my own! The medical team would love to chat with you about what my care involves for the next couple of months and how I can fit into your life!
