A selection of stills from a short film I graded last year titled “The Texture of Air” directed by @benevansjames and Andrew Mark. “The Texture of Air combines LIDAR scans, 16mm film and digital animation to create an archive of stories from the old sites of the Eastman Dental Hospital and Royal Nose, Ear and Throat Hospital. Captured over a period of three years, conversations with staff and patients recorded in laboratories, clinics and chambers unfold as vignettes within the film. Each story is set against a composition composed and recorded across the hospital estates. In reference to the hospital’s original benefactor - the founder of Kodak, George Eastman - The Texture of Air was filmed on Kodak 16mm film. Experimentaron esa sensación de caída al vacío? 😱 Es impresionante, porque caemos desde 40 metros de altura a 63 km por hora! Una velocidad aún mayor que la de la fuerza de gravedad! (que esto no lo lea Vero porque nunca subió y dudo poder convencerla 😜) - Les contamos algunos secretos!: - - Cuando Hollywood Studios fue recién creado (MGM) Disney necesitaba una atracción que atraiga más huéspedes. Al principio tuvieron la idea de que la temática sea de Frankenstein, un clásico del cine que quedaría muy bien dentro del parque, pero la idea no prosperó y decidieron que el protagonista sería un hotel embrujado con estilo art deco y aire hollywoodense de los años 30. - - Cada vez que subas a esta atracción, vas a tener una experiencia diferente. Las caídas no suelen ser iguales ya que son ejecutadas por un sistema de computadora de manera aleatoria! 💯 - - TOT está inspirada en una serie del año 1959, ‘The Twilight Zone’ (La zona crepuscular). Esta serie de terror y ciencia ficción, solía tener un final inesperado para el espectador 😵. - - Rod Serling era el narrador, y es quien aparece en el video que vemos en la previa. Oggi ho potuto immergermi per alcune ore nella densità artistica della casa di Lucio. L’ultima volta in cui vi ero entrato insieme a lui, un caffè, parlare del passato al futuro, alcune parole romantiche appoggiate su un foglio quasi vergine (versi che cantati da Ron nell’ultima edizione di Sanremo). Il suo universo qui dentro è ancora denso, ti avvolge, ti parla e ti immobilizza. Io rispetto l’arte di Dalla e per me rispetto vuol dire anche distanza. La mia di/stanza preferita resta quella del suo “cinema”, dove Lucio amava guardare i film e vedere le partite del #Bologna. #TBT: Reminiscing to 2007 when I opened up a music-retail space in Boston. Living in New York at the time, I was fortunate enough to meet some OGs who allowed me to introduce their brands into my city like Maharishi, IRAK, Absurd, Futura Laboratories, Recon, invisible:man, SSUR, Fiberops, Medicom Toys etc. I also remember booking @kingthurz for a performance and paying him with some Viotech Nike Dunks lol. RE-UP (shoutout to The Clipse) didnt go as planned but here are a couple things I learned in being my own boss vs working at a company: 1. Being ahead of your time is typically a good thing, but not always the case in business. 2. Money changes people so contracts are a must, even if its your your mans. 3. You should at least try once in your life to be your own boss, unless youre okay with making another person rich with your ideas. 4. When things get hectic, refer back to these three principles: stay humble, work hard and be nice to people. - @davis on Instagram

Built by Maximillian and Gladys Thomulka in 1946, the Pink Motel quickly became a roadside attraction due to its bright pink and blue facade and eye-catching neon sign.⠀ ⠀ In its prime location on San Fernando Road, the motel was an easy stopover for people traveling in or out of Los Angeles, promising “air conditioned by refrigeration” comfort to guests.⠀ ⠀ In the 1980s, the Thomulkas’ son Monty started renting the property to production companies, which quickly became more lucrative than catering to travelers (especially after construction of the 5 freeway diverted traffic from San Fernando Road).
