In the simplest of words, what a great day! 😄 Today I went 5/6 in my first weightlifting meet with a lifetime clean & jerk PR! I had an absolute blast lifting today as well as watching my @vikingbarbell teammates crush it! I am officially in love with this sport and can’t wait to see what the future holds. I want to congratulate everyone on their performances today and send a special thanks to coach @dermcdermott for his guidance and knowledge, as well as for allowing me to shoot for the moon at my first meet. I also want to send a special thanks to @jessahartlmt for keeping my muscles happy and healthy with her incredible expertise as well as for her friendship and endless support. To my friends that traveled to watch me lift today, I am so grateful that you would drive so far to watch me on stage for such a short time, you are amazing. Happy theater day. Theater to me has been my safe place. The moment I set foot in SPHS’a theater to watch my brothers preform I fell in love with it. Theater was the first place I could be myself. Because of theater I became more open and less awkward. Because of theater I met my best friend and many more friends. My first theater production was Sister Act bc I sadly missed the Nora’s Lost audition days my freshmen year. I’ve been in theater since then. I’ve been apart of every musical and one act since then. I’m so great full for my theater teacher and the other kids in theater bc they have helped me became the person I am today. They created a safe space for me to be myself. I’m great full for my brother @wadelles for introducing me to theater and pushing me to do productions. Just in general theater has been amazing to me and I only have one year left after this semester to enjoy it. I’m gonna give it away and let you know that as I write this I just hit the same weight for 5 REPS! Fueron 2 días de tensión pura, de nervios, de ver cómo @tomastrupia transpiraba cada remera y anotaba numeros en la pizarra y @martinmlope que iba y venía, callado pensando estrategias, tiempos. @facundovaz88 con su mate, tocando ese bigote, q lo odio y lo sabe pero era una muestra total de ansiedad, q sabía q empezaba la guerra. Por ahí estaba @juanisforzini q me miraba con cara de enfermo, queriendo pasarme toda esa rabia para pudrirla en cada evento. Más al fondo estaban Mari y Corso, o como les digo yo mamá y papá, atentos a las filmaciones, @mareee.thunder rezando, @pablo_thunderbox alcanzándome agua. Miro al otro costado y estaban ellas dos Mi hermana y mi vieja, una @marieb_2020 corriendo al lado mío, mamá cual fan de wanda con la remera y la vincha gritando “a cara de perro hija” si, esa es mi vieja @lavare40 🤦‍♀️❤️. Mis amigos de @boxtvar , alentando en cada evento y abrazándome a la distancia al finalizarlos . @nicoglenny_ph capturando los mejores y peores momentos, hasta casi filma cuando estaba a punto de lanzar todo post evento 5. @marianelasanchez08 y @emmagomez4183 , mis hermanos de la vida, los miras y es imposible no soltar una risa. If 2020 has taught me anything is that you have to do everything you can to find that positive light in your life during these dark times.... From losing loved ones from Covid and not from Covid, to the injustice continuing in the country and world, to identity theft happening to me, just one thing after another has really broke me down in so many ways. WPC DM 2020 in Plettenberg @deniseherber_ sollte eigentlich auch performen, aus privaten Gründen hat es aber leider nicht geklappt und ich musste mit unseren Athleten alleine anreisen. Nach 4 Jahren mein Comeback und das alleine. 😖 Ohne die Person, welche eigentlich jede Sekunde bei mir sein soll.. 👩🏼‍🤝‍👨🏻 nie wieder ohne Girl! Das steht fest! Von 115kg innerhalb von 5 Tagen auf 104,7kg gecutet (mit WaterCut, nicht einfach nachmachen) und am Ladetag den ganzen Tag unsere Athleten betreut. Voller Erfolg, es war aber anstrengend. Der nächste Tag war mein Tag! Bankdrücken hab ich mir 210kg mindestens vorgenommen, es wurden aber nur 200kg gültig im ersten Versuch. Technikfehler meinerseits und da habe ich den Cut wirklich gemerkt. Egal, war nur Bank. Seht selbst im Video! Kreuzheben. 300kg easy Opener 🥜, 315kg easy zweiter Versuch 🥜 und im dritten wollte ich den deutschen Rekord in der -110kg Klasse angehen. 325,5kg. Da ich mir vorher im ersten Versuch komplett die Daumeninnenseite vom HookGrip aufgerissen habe und wie wild am bluten war, war der Griff etwas schlechter und mir gingen, obwohl 325,5kg immer noch zu leicht waren, die Hände auf. Ärgerlich, aber egal. 340kg ist das nächste Ziel! SAFE! Today is always a tough day for Kelly because 15 years ago while playing volleyball her life was forever changed. She never could have imagined that a sprained ankle would alter the course of her life and affect so many things. Kelly developed a rare nerve condition known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). It ranks higher than childbirth, amputation, and cancer pain on the McGill Pain Scale. Unfortunately, there is no cure for CRPS and treatments are administered just to manage symptoms. Kelly has had countless surgeries, and the condition has spread beyond her ankle. She currently suffers with GI symptoms making digestion very difficult which led to significant weight loss. Additionally, her heart rate and blood pressure are affected and standing even for short amounts of time can cause her to pass out. Luckily Kelly has had some good friends that have stuck by her side and supported her through it all! Some people walked out of Kelly’s life when things got difficult but other people came into her life that have shown her so much love and dedication. I am happy to help Kelly any way I can, and I know she appreciates all that I do! Mom, Dad, and Rachel show Kelly endless love and support. Normalmente vemos una violación de este concepto en empujar prematuros o tirones antes de tiempo. . Sin embargo, cuando un atleta salta hacia atrás TAMBIÉN estamos ante una falta! . El atleta está extendiendo las rodillas antes que la cadera, reduciendo la producción de potencia y la eficiencia del movimiento ya que estamos usando una estructura pequeña (rodilla) antes que una mayor (cadera). . Pasa al siguiente vídeo en Slow Mo (en la 2da rep se ve muy claro!) y lo veras claramente! ¿Cómo ver esto en tiempo real? I was looking through some old videos of my training cycle leading up to the 2012 Olympic trials today. Normally when I think about this time in my life I’m left with a lot of bitter feelings. However, today I was overwhelmed with joy when I was scrolling through these. This was hands down one of my best training cycles. I hit the heaviest lifts of my career in this cycle, and today I realized I was also surround by some of the people I love most during this time. More exciting stuff from the weekend🤩 Every year @hoacompetition there’s a max lift, and every year its different (I keep asking for max squats, but they never listen🤪) This year it was a 2 rep touch and go clean & jerk. My one rep max before this day was 160ish. I’ve always had a problem with getting my head through on the jerk. It’s a technique issue that I have worked on over the past 3+ years since I started CrossFit. BUT this weekend I hit 170 for the 2 reps!!!! I knew before going into my training session today that my lower back was still feeling taxed from a deep tissue massage & my quads & hamstrings still felt sore from training them hard on Thursday evening. Such a fun experience at Canadian Masters Competition on Sunday. Both my openers were competition PRs, which gives me confidence and motivation to keep growing and improving. I learned a lot from this competition. It is a game of millimeters. My 3rd Snatch was right there, and my third CJ felt good, but received two reds. In the end finished with 97+107. Even though I had higher expectations I am still quite happy with this and feel there is so much room to improve. A big thank you to @me_beauchemin for keeping me calm, and focused, and coaching me through my nerves. And another big thank you to @londonweightlifting coaches and team for the continued support. I thought it was important to post my fails. You will see why trying to clean with a large hork in the throat is a bad idea. Couldnt clear it out and time was ticking. Kate came to The Strength House looking to learn more about strength and conditioning so she could better help her track and field athletes. Sometimes I’ll get ppl ask me if I’ll compete in powerlifting again ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Honestly.. I don’t think so for the time being.⁣ ⁣⁣ I just don’t have the same spark for it that I used to. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I’ve been going back and fourth about it for ages (last 2 years) and honestly it just isn’t as much of a passion compared to before, when I lived and breathed it. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I still love the sport - it changed my life and allowed me to grow a lot as a person -⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ It taught me sacrifice, discipline, showed me how much was possible if I really put my mind to it, and gave me a taste of what it really meant to give 1000% of your heart and energy into something. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ In my last year in the u23, I swore I’ll never be one of those ppl who go into the open and then disappear or quit the sport. ⁣ ⁣ I guess everyone has their own path, and in my case I went down the path of growing a fitness and business consulting business which, today, has changed hundreds of lives as well as given my team members full time jobs where they can work from anywhere.⁣ ⁣ powerlifting organically just took a backseat, something I tried to fight for ages because I didn’t wanna fully let it go.⁣ ⁣ But I don’t see myself ever competing or participating in the sport as intensely as I used to. ⁣ ⁣ I’m still doing powerlifting type training at the gym. ⁣ ⁣ But for now, I’ll be hanging up my powerlifting belt (next to my medals 😈)⁣ ⁣ Massive respect to everyone I ever met in powerlifting and those who are still participating in the sport⁣ ⁣ But for now ..Brb, platform.⁣ ⁣ Ps- this photo was taken by my coach @jim_rts at the IPF world powerlifting championships, who took me from baby lifter to international lifter breaking british records & stuff. 💥Constant Tension Exercises💥⁣ ⁣ This form of exercise certainly has its place in the overall strength and conditioning programming continuum. There just must be a rhyme and reason for doing so.⁣ ⁣ Constant tension exercises allow for a quick and effective way to bring the involved structures (i.e., muscles, tendons, ligaments, etc.) to mechanical fatigue in short order. In some case, the end result may even be mechanical failure, depending on the dosage.⁣ ⁣ The constant tension technique avoids the typical lockout at the top (or end range) of each rep. Essentially, you perform each rep in an oscillation format by utilizing roughly 75% of the range of motion only. In doing so, this keeps the involved structures in a constant state of work while never reaching full contraction.⁣ ⁣ For example, in a typical squat you would stand tall and lockout the knees at the top. You would do the same in a typical bench press by straightening the arms and locking out the elbows at the top of each rep. In constant tension exercises, you would deliberately avoid this typical lockout on purpose in order to keep stress on the involved structures.⁣ ⁣ Constant tension exercises are simply another way to impose stress on the body. SQUAT review from last sunday. Feeling pretty satisfied because squat depth is under control. I’m 3 weeks out and so hyped 😍🇩🇪 . 235kg (1. video) 230kg (2. video) @ 77kg bw . Hier seht ihr meine Squat Singles vom Sonntag. Das Ziel/Hauptfokus in den aktuellen und noch kommenden Einheiten liegt auf der Tiefe bei den Gewichten von 230kg-240kg. Und was soll ich sagen... ich liebe es wenn Pläne aufgehen! Die Tiefe ist definitiv in beiden Sätzen erreicht. Fühle mich immer sicherer und stabiler mit 230kg+. Da hat sich die letzten Wochen definitiv viel getan. Auch wenn ich heute bei 240kg komplett gefailt bin. Hatte sie erst das zweite Mal überhaupt aufm Rücken, also alles gut :) . Ich freue mich sooo auf den Wettkampf, auch wenn Deadlifts hinterherhängen und mein Gewicht nicht so recht will. Aber ich darf auch nicht vergessen, dass -75kg bisher immer meine Klasse war! Crossfit för mig är det som får mig att fortsätta träna! Ja när jag började träna då va jag lärd som alla andra PTs var musklerna satt. Hur man rörde och tränade dom musklerna. Sen tränade man dom i maskiner. Typ split pass. Rygg och biceps. Bröst och triceps. Mage. Cardio ja osv. Fyyyyyyyyyy fan va tråkigt. Ett halvår in som PT och min träningskarriär. Så kände jag hur tråkigt det va. Jag dog av tristess i maskinerna. Ja menar hallå så enformigt och outvecklade 🙄 Men sen hittade jag marklyft, knäböj och tillslut gymnastik och olympiska lyft och sen blev det naturligt att börja med crossfit. En mera idrottsspecifik träningsform. Jag hade absolut en fördel av att jag hade jobbat i maskiner innan då jag hade kontakt med mina muskler och va stark i överkroppen och benen vilket är ett plus i crossfit. Så missförstå mig rätt! Att börja i maskiner och jobba med basrörelser är superbra till en start och även rehab samt bygga muskler tärning. Men jag skulle slutat träna om jag inte fortsatte utveckla mig vidare. Så se till att alltid vara nyfiken. Jobba med mer än bara maskiner. Jobba med kroppsligt. Jobba mot gravitationen oxå! Stimulerar mera hjärna och är mera likt din vardag! Då vi alltid rör oss mot gravitationen. Så fortsätt ha nyfikenhet och testa nytt. Våga misslyckas för att i längden lyckas.
