I worked out at my high school field this morning. I choked up (just got totally swept up in emotion) when I walked down to the empty track. As I jogged, I thought about everything in my life (the past and present) as I start another journey around the sun, and I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed: the memories. Some of my best friendships were made on these Medfield soccer fields over 28 years ago. My husband grew up playing on these fields right beside me, little did we know we’d end up together. I met up with my friends on these fields for wild summer nights in our Abercrombie jeans and Bebe jeweled tank tops. Wild summer nights usually meant eating chicken tenders (double fries / extra honey mustard) at Friendly’s, or parking at Meta until the cops showed up and sent us home. My parents showed up to every single game to support me on these fields, and I’ve been lucky to have always been told how much I’m loved by them. I definitely got in trouble on this field (sup senior year homecoming dance), I made mistakes (plenty) - and I learned and grew from them. I worked hard with my teammates under the Friday night lights against Westwood, and laughed and cried with my girls. I grew up on these fields and I’ll always cherish the memories. With all that’s going on in the world, I think back to my roots and damn, I feel grateful. As Matt & I said on our wedding day surrounded by all of our loved ones (crazy enough- so many of which grew up alongside both of us on the MHS fields), it takes a village, so thank you. To those who have joined our roots & our journey along the way after Medfield, BC & Cali & Chi... thank you. My heart is filled to the brim. I am so grateful for the love & support of everyone in my circle: near & far, past & present. If this year has taught me anything, I’m thankful for every day. Made it to 33. Each moment is blessing and a gift. Cheers to the best year yet, and always believing that the best is yet to come ❤️ thank you for the overwhelming amount of love today. It means everything.
