[When can we talk about the system of drafting and training that got your team to this situation in the first place?] Your back hurts & you think you need surgery to help with the pain. [When can we talk about the technique you use when you go running every day?] Your employee shows up late regularly. How can you get them to care more? [When can we talk about your hiring and leadership approaches?] There’s racial injustice & unfairness all around us. [Can we talk about persistent indoctrination around caste?] You just had an argument with your brother. What’s the best way for him to see that you’re right? [When can we talk about the narratives your family has developed for generations?] Universities & local schools are in crisis with testing in disarray and distant learning ineffective… [When can we talk about what school is for?] It’s comfortable to ignore the system, to assume it is as permanent as the water surrounding your goldfish. But the fact that we have these tactical problems is all the evidence we need to see that something is causing them, & that spending time on the underlying structure could make a difference. In a crisis, there’s maximum attention. And in a crisis, we often discard any pretense of caring about systems & resilience and focus only on how to get back to normal. This is precisely why normal is what normal is, because we fight to get back to it. Changing the system changes everything. Craigh na Dun features a base of rain-dampened heather and chamomile flowers-- gentle and enduring, with heart notes of sage and fresh rosemary, with the faint aroma of an apothecarys shed, with other drying spices hanging from the ceiling. The face oil is made of a combination of eight different oils (which you can read more about in our Face Oils highlight) and this will also have rosemary and other plant extracts to boost in helping reduce inflammation and redness and soothe chronic skin conditions. One of the amazing things about the Coastal Sage Scrub plant community out at Cabrillo National Monument is the ever-changing species that are in bloom. One of the last plants to bloom in late summer are in the Baccharis family. Such is the case for the Coyote Brush (Baccharis pilularis) and Broom Baccharis (Baccharis sarothoides) as they begin their seasonal blooming. However, the Hybrid Desertbroom (Baccharis sarothroides x pilularis) is a mix of both species and one from this family currently blooming here at Cabrillo National Monument. The plant is dioecious, meaning the pistillate (female) flowers and the staminate (male) flowers are on separate plants. The blooms of the female flowers are long whitish green and after pollination create a fluffy tuft, or pappus containing the seed nutlet. This adaptation is designed for wind-dispersal of the seeds. The male plants have sterile female parts in their flower. The male flowers contain the yellow pollen, and some believe they have the scent of shaving soap. As you visit the park in the next few weeks you will here the buzz of pollinators as the collect some of the last nectar of the season, while pollinating this late bloomer to produce puffy clouds of seeds to be spread by the winter winds. So, while we follow state guidelines of Stay Home/Stay Healthy and continue to respect social distancing protocols, Freeway Park is a unique public asset for you and your family to use and enjoy. . Social distancing - about three years ago, we traded the suburbs for some land. A small back yard chicken coop was just the beginning, and before long we found ourselves on acres with goats, cows, ducks and pigs. Making cheese, planting an acre garden, grinding grain and homeschooling. • • In this home on the river, we’re at least an hour drive from any friend or relative. We leave the house 2-3 times a week. I’m realizing that we began our own gradual social distancing those years ago. • • I left photography in any organized sense, I sold my cleaning business. I kept pressing into less, making space for the more in front of me. I changed my Instagram and blog to ‘this abundance.’ Eventually, though unexpectedly, I left my job as a pastor, too. I am thankful for the enormous privilege of my husband’s career and the ways we’ve been careful with money to allow this. We aren’t in sports, playgroups or activities. The mom guilt that comes with this is regular and hard. I wrestle with forms of the question ‘am I a crummy friend if I show up less for them, but more for myself?’ But we tend our farm and tend the relationships we love and...learn so much. • • I want to extend empathy, from lived experience, to those who are feeling anxious and lonely in these new regular days of slow and wondering and worry. My distancing was a choice, and I can’t imagine if it had been sudden or mandatory. My heart hopes some part of you can find a little bit more breath, here. That with less to do and maybe fewer voices, you can hear yours. That you can know yourself and love that person. I hope that how you show up is authentic in all of the hard, because I’m a firm believer that everything we feel is important and teaches us. All of your feelings deserve space. AMARANTO Le sue foglie hanno un sapore molto delicato, simile a quello degli spinaci. Le migliori da cucinare sono quelle giovani, che si trovano allo stato di rosetta. Anche il fusto giovane, prima che compaiano i fiori, è edibile, e viene usato come gli asparagi. Dai semi, essiccati e triturati, si ricava la farina di amaranto, che è ideale per chi è affetto da celiachia o desidera eliminare il glutine. Questa farina è infatti gluten free ed è piuttosto gustosa (ideale per torte, pane, biscotti e tutti gli altri prodotti che potete preparare in casa). Se la cercate potete acquistarla quiFarina di amaranto. E’ bene usare le foglie previa bollitura, un po’ come avviene per gli spinaci. L’amaranto è una pianta in grado di sintetizzare molto bene i nitrati, specie nei terreni coltivati e ricchi di azoto. E’ altresì una pianta ricca di ossalati. I nitrati, dopo la cottura, vengono espulsi e rimangono nell’acqua, che pertanto non può essere più usata. Vorige week werd ik gevraagd een cover te spelen in de 00’s week van Qmusic. Ik koos voor ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ van Keane. Ik vond dit altijd een hele mooie song...voor mij gaat het over het (her)vinden van jezelf...het simpele opnieuw bijzonder vinden...je oorsprong herontdekken. I’ve been bumming hard core about the cancellation of the @aboveandbeyond #acousticiii tour that was coming through Austin in June @aboveandbeyond has a way of bringing emotion out of me that is often rare to come by. Last night I hit my one month mark of learning piano and earlier tonight I decided to try and learn a part of my favorite A&B track, Sun & Moon. Right after trying to figure out which keys were which, and how to transition my fingers, a giant storm rolled through with the lighting and thunder rumbling my studio/office/garage. With my pup hiding under my feet and my gin gimlet slightly sweating on the desk, I continued making headway. The experience was quite surreal, and although this sample arrangement is only 4 chords and I haven’t gotten it quite right, I was completely at ✌️. Esperamos en otro post poder escribir sobre su historia de amor, porque es de esas que inspiran, pero hoy nos atinaremos solo a contarles algo muy especial que pasó en esa fiesta del amor. . Se casaron en Tandil, en ese campo que los vio crecer, y después de la ceremonia, en presencia de todos sus seres queridos, decidieron plantar un árbol. ¿Por qué plantar un árbol? Quisieron dejar plasmado su amor en un momento concreto. Plantar ese árbol significó para ellos, mostrarle al mundo que ya estaban listos para empezar esa vida de a dos y ese árbol sería su inspiración para siempre: “Hoy, como los árboles, salimos al mundo a vivir las heladas del invierno y los calores agobiantes del verano. Pero también vamos a vivir las tardes de la primavera y la aventura de ver caer las hojas en otoño. Nuestra semilla, nuestro amor, salía al mundo para convertirse en árbol que de frutos”. Manu y Tobi plantaron juntos su semilla y coronaron ese momento con un fuerte abrazo lleno de lágrimas (de las lindas), que fue su primer riego. Seguro ese árbol y ese amor crezcan fuertes, sean resistentes a los vientos y puedan elevarse hasta perderse en el cielo eterno, como la Araucaria (el árbol preferido de Tobi). . . Liquorice Root is one of the key botanicals in Kerr’s Gin. As a result, our gin has a hint of liquorice in its finish.
