Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘Mona Lisa’ continues to fascinate art observers with its compositional secrets. Recently, a scientist by the name of Pascal Cotte discovered a never-before-seen sketch beneath the masterpiece. Cotte’s study of the portrait marks the first time a spolvero has been detected in the legendary work which is evidence that da Vinci created an initial sketch of the famous portrait before painting it. The drawing also portrays an entirely different subject of the ‘Mona Lisa’ than its final composition, depicting an “unreal woman, like a goddess,” explained Cotte.⠀ ⠀ Click the link in our bio to learn more.⠀ ⠀ Photos: Wikimedia Commons, Pascal Cotte/Artnet News - @hypebeastart on Instagram

⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Treasure: 👉 Desperation - 1845 Artist: 🇫🇷 Gustave Courbet Where:📍#Paris - BNP Private Collection Photo: 📸@bnpparibas Tag: 🔑#europe_treasures Family: 👉 @tesori_italiani 👉 @printbible 🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹 Le Désespéré (Desperation or The Desperate Man) is an 1843-1845 oil on canvas self-portrait by Gustave Courbet, produced early during his stay in Paris. It is now in the private collection of the Conseil Investissement Art BNP Paribas but was displayed in the Musée dOrsays 2007 Courbet exhibition. In the 1840s Courbet produced portraits of his friends and clients as well as self-portraits, including Self-Portrait with a Black Dog (1842). He spent time in the Louvre copying works by José de Ribera, Zurbaran, Velasquez and Rembrandt which started to influence his work. He broke from his traditional vertical format for the work. He was attached to Le Désespéré, taking it with him when he went into exile in Switzerland in 1873. A few years later doctor Paul Collins description of Courbets studio included a mention of a painting showing Courbet with a desperate expression, for this reason entitled Désespoir. 🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹 ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀🏛 Share our Wonderful Heritage 🏛 🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹 #oilpainting #europeanart #artists #selfie #paintings #frenchartist #cuadros #portrait #frenchart #desperate #selfportrait #painting #france #museedorsay #française #gustavecourbet #historyofart #courbet #museum #français #french #europeart #marat #artfrance #dipinto #peintre #peinture - @europe_treasures on Instagram

🍝 Macaroni Eaters! 🍝 Naples began to be associated with macaroni (at this time referring to all pasta) in the 1600s, as it transformed from a food for the wealthy to a cheap street food. The first image is by the leading Neapolitan painter Luca Giordano in 1660. The second, showing beggars (or lazzaroni) is by Domenico Gargiulo in the 17th century 🍝 By the mid-18th century, Neapolitans had taken on the nickname mangiamaccheroni (macaroni eaters). Images abounded of young men and boys with heads tipped back, greedily pouring pasta into their open mouths! This subject even became a common feature of 19th century postcards (as in picture 3), brought back as souvenirs from travels to the south 🍝 Swipe for more! ➡️ - @historyeats on Instagram

Parla a raffica.
