I remember taking this selfie about 2 years ago. I was in a really good shape back then. And I’m not referring to my body composition but rather my strength and endurance. I haven’t been so much on top of my fitness for the past year. I’ve been active, I’ve been exercising but I haven’t been really challenging myself. Now I can barely do 3 pull ups 🤭. Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.” — Richard Steele I’ve always enjoyed reading but like many I would use the excuse that I don’t have time. Now that my life has taken a 180 and the pandemic has forced me to change habits and mindset I am finding so much joy taking the time that I often now think why did I take so long to step away from the screen, phone and just enjoy life! And I’m sure some of you see I’m online noticeably less seeing life in real time again. It reminded me of where I started and that no matter what it is you put off it’s never too late to change your life and be who you want to be or try the things you want. As a single mom, for nine years with the help of others I was able to accomplish and make room for the things that fed my soul, kept me healthy to be the best mom I could be to run my businesses and get by. Often overwhelmed by these commitments I told my self I have to find this space. Emotionally, financially, and practically – to live the life that my heart truly desires. Trust me, I had to push through surviving each day, going through the motions of what I needed to do just to survive, but the best part was I accomplished it. No one bailed me out, I didn’t rely on someone to do it, I made a choice to push through. How often have you turned away opportunities and experiences because the reasons “NOT to do things” weigh heavier than “reasons to do them”. Or we look for an easy way out, excuses, deflection, and lack accountability of our lives to depend on others to save us. It’s is a matter of priority. If the desire to bring about a particular change is strong enough, there is always action that we can take. So if you wanted to read, here is an easy few steps every day 1.) Keep it at your coffee table or next to your bed and read it with your morning coffee. 2.) Carry a book with you wherever you go. Instead of listening to music, read while travelling. It is the best way of utilising your time. 3.) Start with something that interests you. Walking away from the opportunity to be a 4th year veteran with Dolphins Cheer was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made, but sometimes when you hear that voice in your head, you just gotta listen to it. • As I reflect back on my journey of becoming an NFL cheerleader and spending 3 incredible years with the BEST organization, I’m truly overwhelmed with emotions. Not many people can say they lived out their dream, and for that I’m beyond grateful. From traveling the world on photoshoots, military tours and international games, to feeling the unexplainable adrenaline stepping on the field, to making an impact in the community, to the countless laughs at practice with coach Nat and my dolphins cheer sisters, there is so much I’m going to miss. Abs!! We all want them but can we all have them!? I know for myself personally, I hold my fat on my tummy and my back. Im not blessed like some, who can have a crisp 6 pack of abs without being very lean, I have to be lean to have them! I can however have quad separation pretty easily 🤷 Some gals just simply dont hold fat on their tummies and hence their abs are more visible - plain and simple! And some gals, on the flip side, may have abs because they are in fact lean and they work dam hard to keep them - they stick to diets rigidly and stick to training. Some even have incredible core strength and definition typically built up from years of gymnastics as a child, or similar. I typically aim to have baby abs the majority of the time. By that I mean the outter 2 lines, the middle line and if I can manage it, my top 2 ab squares. This is because, I know that to have that solid, defined, super crisp 6 pack requires me to be at a very low body fat percentage! To get to that point I am 100% on point with my calories, with high levels of training and in a big deficit. I find it VERY hard to get a 6 pack and hence I now no longer obsess over it as I know how exhausted I am at this level. A 6 pack is not something that I can maintain year round, nor do I want too. Baby abs are maintainable for me and it is also a visual reminder to myself that if I have my baby abs, I am most likely relatively lean over all. So next time you are comparing your abs to the shredded gal on Instagram, just remember my story and even as a WBFF fitness pro I do not have a 6 pack year round! - @staceyhearnefit_wbffpro on Instagram

I haven’t been completely honest. I use this platform to share my experience and knowledge with nutrition + strength + endurance as a lifestyle. I’ve kept a big part of my story private. I’m 32 on Hormone Replacement Therapy ( HRT). I have been for a little over a year now. My health; mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually was in a D A R K place. This wasn’t the first time ... 🔸23 I fractured my pelvis ( osteopenia). 🔸24 I’d seen some of the best specialists on the east coast regarding hormone imbalances. Those roadblocks were a Godsend. It’s why I’m so passionate about strength and nutrition for women in endurance. This one though, there were no tools in my toolbox that could fix it. At first, I denied it. Out of shame? Failure? I suffered a few more months before caving. I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror. My body, mood, character ➡️ C H A N G E D. The pain I felt wasn’t just physical, it was deep in my soul. How did it happen? #1️⃣ reason S T R E S S I thought I was healthy & fit, nothing could break me. I would kill it in the gym 6 days a week, push through weakness, slack on sleep, high stress was normal, it was part of my everyday life. My nutrition was inconsistent - I ignored inflammation. I needed to achieve until I literally couldn’t get out of bed in the am. I was 💯wrong. It broke me. Every. Single. Piece of me. 👉🏼The silver lining - I have learned an incredible amount about womens bodies, my body. Love and respect above all. It’s not about how hard or far I can go, how much suffering I can endure, or how lean I can be. It’s giving my body what it needs to feel it’s best. Food, Rest, Movement, Peace. I’m still on HRT, hopefully not much longer! I never thought I’d be so freakin grateful to wake up in the morning and feel normal. Just me, able to get through an entire day without naps, irritability, headaches, and severe brain fog. I’m sharing this with you b/c I do live out everything I post about - it’s real life experience + research. If this resonate with at least one person - worth the vulnerability. I watched @ParisHiltons new documentary #ThisIsParis on YouTube, and it was not what I was expecting at all (in a good way). She shed light on a years-long traumatic time in her life that shaped who she was as a young adult and now a woman in her thirties (she still has almost daily nightmares about it). Several major themes in the doc include control, superstardom, lack of privacy and lack of sleep. The dynamic between her celebrity and family life is also at times hard to watch. Not because it isnt compelling, but because you really feel for her. One scene I found interesting in particular was when she was speaking with her sister Nicky about those dark times, Nicki asked if she had apologized to their parents for what happened to Paris in her teen years. I want to add that Nicky comes off as a very caring, understanding and real sister to Paris, but that moment kind of caught me off guard. I also flinched when Paris talked to her mom about this really troubling time, which her mom is indirectly and partly responsible for, and there didnt seem to be much of an apology. It was swept under the rug, as the Hilton sisters would probably say. Then I remembered #ParisHiltons recent interview with @BravoAndy where she talks about the control in #BritneySpears life, and how she couldnt imagine still having to deal with that for all these years. The documentary put context to those words. Did any of you watch it yet? What were your thoughts on Paris dueling public and private personas? What had happened to her?
