WARNING-LONG POST ABOUT THE BODY It can be hard to post pictures like this and not find some excuse to wait for the next week. But I wanted to share some progress pics. I’ve been at this for 19 weeks. Eating better, and exercising. However, my entire mentality about those two things have changed completely, thanks to my amazing nutritionist coach @rmarshal and the top notch program @managemymacros ! I began this process on February 10th. Even though I was doing all the theater and filling my cup up as an actress, I was in a bad place in many ways. My food consumption was beyond unhealthy- fast food for lunch and dinner, popcorn plus Nutella plus ice cream plus Doritos at night, and things like sugary cereal and pretzels in my car for all things in between. I made excuses not to exercise- I do lots of movement in my shows! Exercise isn’t that important. I walk my dogs. I was at my lowest low in a long while. More apathetic, depressed, and just feeling completely lousy. In the past, I thought the only way to dig myself out of a hole like that required bulldozer-style digging. Hence, the on-again-off-again affair I had with the Keto diet. This always led to burn out, discouragement, and negative momentum that was like “one step forward, two steps back.” By keeping track of my carbs, fats, and protein- I realized that I could start the digging process with a reliable shovel as long as I was patient with this longer timeline and trusted that I would get out of the hole with faith in myself and the process. With the help of professionals, I made easy goals for myself like having one veggie a day and only ordering QDOBA once a week. Go from exercising 3 times a week to adding some yoga on the days when I don’t exercise. Discover three alternative ways to move in addition to traditional exercise. I also had to learn that accountabilities for the “rough” weeks and the choices I made in accordance needed to be balanced out with giving myself credit where credit was due. Balance is as important in my mind as it is in my eating and movement. This isn’t a diet and exercise plan. It’s a lifestyle change. #managemymacros - @brekkenb on Instagram

Combine the coconut milk, oyster sauce, chili sauce, water, onions, lemon juice, ginger, and garlic in a small saucepan. 2. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring continuously. Then reduce the heat to a minimum and simmer for one minute. Set aside. 3. Cover the fish fillets with oil, then cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, over medium heat. 4. Bloating is when your belly feels swollen after eating. It is usually caused by excess gas production or disturbances in the movement of the muscles of the digestive system. I prefer to keep things simple, so this is how I put my meals together. It allows me to not stress about what or how much I’m going to eat. As an entrepreneur or someone who’s very busy, it’s important to remove as many decisions from your life as possible. This allows me to save my thoughts for more important decisions throughout the day. You might have heard this called “decision fatigue”. Well, it’s real! And this is how I beat it in fitness. The main reason I decided to start eating intuitively is because I realized as long as I’m tracking calories, I’m stressing and releasing unwanted hormones. My goal was always to be 10-12% body fat year round without having to worry about what I eat. I wrote that goal down in 2012. I achieved it in 2015. Don’t get me wrong when things get serious and I want to get into single digits, I have to do more planning, BUT, I still don’t track on a daily basis. I just follow a simple protocol like this, with multiple “templates” as meals that I know will get me to my goal. Which is just not true. Seitan is a plant-based, cruelty-free alternative to red meat that is just delicious! 🥩Steak is farmed through meat factories where the cows are usually pumped full of hormones, steroids, and antibiotics. Not only are cows treated awfully but red meat may also come with a whole host of other health conditions. From a nutritional point, steak has 204 calories per 100g, its high in saturated fat and cholesterol. While it does contain 30g of protein its also cruel to animals and awful for the environment. 🌱On the other side, Seitan is a plant-based alternative that is cruelty-free and sustainable. Seitan is made from hydrated gluten. Wheat flour and water are kneaded together to produce strands of gluten that are full of protein. The starch is then washed away. Seitan often mimics the taste of whatever you would like, which makes it incredibly versatile. 🙌 From a nutritional view seitan only has 106 calories per 100g and is low in carbs, fat, and cholesterol while still providing you with 21g of protein. Its also packed full of vitamins. 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐦 “𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬” Hey everyone, coach @mathasfitness here. Our culture has been drilled in to our heads that “processed foods” are bad and we should stay away from them...however, the majority of people don’t even know what the term means and that many “healthy” foods they consume are also processed. Processed simply means “altered from it’s original state.” So by that definition nearly everything we eat is processed. Rice, beans, peanut butter, canned vegetables, canned fruits, meat, oatmeal, cheese, cereal, pasta, milk, and yes COFFEE! We live in a culture where food production occurs which is an awesome thing and if we want food to last it is going to undergo some form of processing. But the trouble is fear mongering influencers or people trying to sell you products confuse you by saying all processed food is bad 🤦♂️ I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t consider canned fruits and vegetables, meat, oatmeal, and coffee bad, would you? Ok, minus plant based individuals when it comes to the meat but you get the point. It is vital you understand nutrition and what it does for your body. I have seen too many people fall for fear mongering advertising like this because they aren’t willing to do research on their own and really understand their body and nutrition in general. I am a coach but I also pride myself on being an educator and one who wants to help rid your life of fear mongering certain foods or food groups. Yes, overly processed foods like candy, pies, pastry’s, microwaveable TV dinners, need to be limited but don’t think every food labeled as “processed” is going to harm your health.
