I realize Ive been guided. I didnt get here on my own. All of the coincidences, opportunities, road blocks and stop signs have been put in place by Spirit/God. I can see this clearly now. A few years ago, I felt this bubbling in my gut.. an excitement and almost uneasiness. I knew there was something more in me that I was supposed to be doing. I went to a conference called the Zone Event because I was feeling called to become a life coach of some sort.. I had NO IDEA what my niche would be. One of the speakers said something.. it was pivotal moment for me. Sometimes we dont realize what our thing, is.. because its SO EASY for us. I realized Id been coaching friends on sobriety for years! I hired a business coach... stepped out of my comfort zone and decided to become a sobriety coach! The week before I launched my new offering.. a dear sister of mine I met while in outpatient in SD messaged me and explained she was struggling. She saw how well I was doing and she asked if I could just be that person to hold her accountable. I explained that I was starting my Sobriety Coaching Business and she signed up! When she did.. a wave of emotions rushed over me like Ive never experienced before. For the first time ever.. I dropped to my knees and thanked God. She celebrated 1 YEAR SOBER yesterday! She told me I helped save her life. Sometimes I wonder how I got here.. Im extremely grateful and tonight I thank God. Ive been so resistant of that word for so long. But Ive been shown.. This week I helped my mom make a transition. (She sold her AZ home) My brother and I packed up memories and grieved with her the future she had planned with my late stepfather that will not come to be. We then celebrated her next chapter and the excitement that can come with a fresh start. I knew once we parted I would need more time to process my own grief and thoughts and feelings. So, by myself, I drove to the Grand Canyon. I was in awe. I learned more about myself. I felt small in the biggest way. I reflected. And I am grateful for so much. On the way back news started breaking about the passing of #RBG. It is women like Ms. Ginsburg who have given me the power in my adult years to be really solid in myself, to embark on a journey just like this one, to truly support all women through mentorship, friendship and sisterhood, and to recognize what a true partner should be and now I search for nothing less. Without going into great detail, she was a (s)hero for someone like me, who grew up as a little girl who did not feel, within my own household, that women were looked at or respected the same way as men. Now I try my best to be an example of strength and vulnerability, so other women and little girls know they all have an inner bad ass. Sometimes she just needs help finding her voice. No. I don’t need to. ✨ My point? We all wake up like this. ✨ Messy hair, puffy faces, tired eyes and sometimes messy hearts and heads to boot. ✨ So did all of those people too. You see, we are so much more alike than different but I know it’s hard to grasp that when you see all the pretty things here. ✨ I love me a good filter, a good angle, a great hair day, some glue on lashes, a pair of good @spanx, a little Botox to smooth that tired forehead and I have plenty of “pretty and staged” pictures on my feed BUT we all have real life behind it all. ✨ We all have kids we love to no end that sometimes drive us to insanity. We have husbands who adore us even when we don’t love ourselves everyday. We have messy houses that stay clean for 2.3 seconds. Another one of my goals that I’ve been working on, not only for the #gymshark66 but as a life-long goal, is to be more present. Being present for me includes unplugging digitally and spending more time with myself. We all fall into these black holes when it comes to social media where we just constantly compare ourself and place judgement upon our lives because of what we THINK we should have because others have it. And that is just so far from the truth. Life is not a race, it’s a marathon. Just because someone has something that we believe is a marker of success, does not mean that person who has it see it the same way. 💡 * So these last 3 days, I have unplugged and just really spent time with myself and my loved ones. I’ve taken time to really meditate and center myself and my energy in the mornings before I start my day and also in the evenings, before bed. According to my phone, I’ve only spent 33 minutes on social media in the last few days! 😬Thats mind blowing for me. And let me tell you, I feel so refreshed! I spent such quality time with my people that I care and love and it was an amazing feeling. Being PRESENT was definitely something that I’ve always struggled with. And I hope that not only in the next 60 days, but in the long run, I can better prioritize myself and need to unplug every now and then. * How do you guys prioritize yourselves? I’ve just completed my longest run yet and I am so proud of myself! 47 minutes 🥳 swipe does a journey I find it so hard to keep going when I’m out there pon road, can’t lie I’ve definitely let couple tears go, definitely shouted a couple expletives. Definitely got the hump with boyfriend for encouraging me to finish when I just wanted to go home 😅 The realisation that it’s mind over matter was a hard one for me because it is sometimes more scary to believe you are in control than not. Makes you confront yourself hard - sticky icky. But I feel strong - each day more than the day before. Btw I’m not on some crazy you can do it but your back into no pain no gain Uber posi chief shit - I just mean I made a commitment to myself to take care of me forever more even when I fall off to return to my centre self. If you have felt over the past few months that your head has been in outer space and your body be in city wondering around looking for it maybe try it for you. Helped me. When I first joined gym in jan was gassed but I didn’t love it and shower room so grim in the spaces I just can’t (I really hope you wear flip flops 😳) but finding my own rhythm has been a good process. Sometimes I run with different t shirts on, I like it when they have stuff on the back because as a big girl running I get a lot of attention so I started to channel it, if you guna look at me you best see the message! (Black is beautiful t arriving next week, send me some good options inbox) The 47 minute run I wore unity, equality & acceptance on my back - I think that’s what powered me through, here for it. This is Sandra Bland. In 2015, at the age of 28 years old she was pulled over in Waller County for failing to signal. The police officer got reallyyyy pissed bc she wasn’t worshipping the ground he walked on and didn’t want to put out her cigarette. She was detained and beaten. There is a video of the entire interaction if you’d like to see it for yourself. She was found dead hanging in her jail cell and her death was ruled a suicide. HOWEVER, it is believed that she was deceased at the time her mugshot was taken. You can google her mugshot to see for yourself and form your own opinion. . . Her case broke me. I was a Junior/Senior in College Station, Texas which is right up the street from Waller (a county KNOWN for their racial profiling) and saw myself in Sandra. I ranted to anyone who would listen (which wasn’t very many ppl since I was going to a predominantly white school and had predominantly white friends) about her death. I couldn’t believe it. It was so obvious that she was murdered and no one was going to do anything about it. If I was murdered.. no one was going to do anything about it. That’s when it all became crystal clear. If it could happen to her, it could happen to me. I wouldn’t be described as a kind person with so much potential. I’d be described as a twenty- something year old black woman who was behaving irrationally/aggressively and thus, deserved whatever happened next. This is why my dad always told me not to speed through Waller. This is why I was supposed to check in right when I got home. This is why my Granny always told me to be careful and RESPECTFUL if I ever got pulled over. It’s been 5 years and the death of Breona Taylor has a lot of young black girls realizing they could literally be SLEEPING in their OWN HOMES and doing everything right... and still wouldn’t get justice if murdered by police. . . Black lives matter just as much as anyone else’s. We shouldn’t have to feel petrified when getting pulled over. Our hearts shouldn’t start pacing at the sight of police officers. Hey. Hi. Hello. 🙃 So much time has passed since I posted anything at all here and for that, I have an explanation. That makes it sound like I feel as if I owe one, and I don’t. I do things because I want to, if and when I feel they are necessary and/or important. This feels that way to me. The past year has been a strange one. For many months, there were things that felt all-consuming: preparing to move and then moving, acclimating, teaching, and now isolating. I was all over the place in terms of routine, food, and movement for a while, and am finally working on allowing myself to be NEW. I’m not looking to get back, but to become something that fits my life now, instead of an old image of myself, remade. I’ve been working on nutrition with @nourishmygut for about a month (highly recommend - sometimes we need help and that’s okay!!!!) and feel like that’s coming together. Yesterday was a difficult day for me, though. I went to donate convalescent plasma and I wasn’t able to go through with the donation because I only had one viable vein and it was still bruised from the blood draw for the antibody test. This kind of thing puts me back in a weird state of mind because I was previously very held back from doing things by an obese body, and now a combination of weight gain and a lack of physical fitness is keeping me from doing a thing I think is so essential to a culture of mutual aid and community support. It’s probably a weird thing to get sad/frustrated about but here I am. I have a renewed motivation to get to a place where I can run when I want to but even more importantly, to have a more balanced view of fitness than I did before. I’m aiming for flexibility (physical and mental), adaptability, and consistency. I’m actually feeling excited to see where I can end up with this shift. I appreciate you guys for sticking around and being such a supportive community for each other - I see it every day and it’s truly uplifting. Things have changed a lot for so many of us and it’s important that we all have a place where we can get and provide support. I remind you: the patterns & conditioning you’re releasing are real and run deep, but your inner strength and light are stronger. You are strong enough for this! You were born to do this! The scale HASN’T MOVED in almost 2 weeks. Actually according to the scale I went up 2 pounds. Guess what??? I am a whole dress size smaller since two weeks ago. This is why it’s sooooooo important to not let the scale determine your progress. In addition if you are doing any form of functional or weight training; you should EXPECT the scale to move up. However, over time it will balance out. 💪🏾Workout because it makes you feel good. 💪🏾Workout because it improves your mental and emotional state. 💪🏾Workout because it’s overall good for you. 💪🏾 Stay consistent and your results will show. Hello, I wanted to introduce myself to those who are new. Im Leisa and Ive found myself at a pivotal place in my career having spent 5+ years writing my book published by St Martins in July 2020. More than anything I wanted to write a book that helps people deep dive into their money stories so they could heal themselves, thereby bringing greater joy and financial success into their lives. My husband and I became self-made millionaires 15 years ago, but keeping and growing the money was a much different process than how we had earned it. From there I became a CFP® and managed other peoples money to see how best to create a legacy for our family. Then eventually it came time to leave my 25 year financial career to start WealthClinic where Im focused on a few different audiences - one that more closely resembles my parents who struggled with money until their early deaths that bore the wounds of having led very difficult lives, and the other, more closely mirroring my own journey, where Ive always been fascinated (or rather, consumed) by money and made it my God for many years. Both stories actually have a lot more in common with each other than most people realize. They both stem from patterns and feelings of not being enough and this is what my lifes work is about extinguishing. Ive been teaching meditation, self-realization and spiritual philosophy since 2003 having been a daily meditator since 1999 and on the inner journey ever since. I no longer teach about one primary religion having found the commonality between the greatest teachings ever given and prefer to interweave these teachings into practical life with money, relationships, parenting and business. My husband recently joined my company where we offer virtual coaching programs, workshops, retreats (in Sedona and Hawaii) and membership/masterminds. Were currently launching a 6 month business coaching and money advisory program for coaches, therapists and professional advisors bringing together everything Ive learned about business, money and self-realization. I always put my kids in front of the camera. They are cute. They love it. And I love capturing the memories we share. I also do it because I hate taking photos of myself. For the longest time, the face which reflected back at me, I didn’t like. I never told myself the story I needed to hear, quick to tell others how beautiful they are. I never gave myself that kind of love. Over the last few months, I’ve spent SO MUCH TIME at home with my kids...who hold a mirror up to my face every single day. I now like who I see.
