Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody was indicted Monday on charges of tampering evidence in the case of Javier Ambler, a 40-year-old Black man who died in custody last year. The indictment accuses @sheriffchody of destroying footage that showed deputies chasing and using force against the Pflugerville resident that was captured for the reality TV show Live PD in March 2019. Jason Nassour, former general counsel with the county attorneys office, faces the same charge. Chody was booked and released after posting a $10,000 bond. His indictment was first reported by the @statesman. Deputies J.J. Johnson and Zach Camden chased Ambler for 22 minutes for allegedly failing to dim his headlights to oncoming traffic. When they caught Ambler, they used tasers on him four times, though he protested that he had a heart condition and could not breathe. He died shortly after. The deputies are under investigation. HUGE congrats to my fellow Recording Academy members that put in major grass roots style work both locally & nationally back in October. The goal was to educate members of Congress and other Government officials about reforming the severely outdated 1995 law that governs many forms of licensing and royalties due to artists such as streaming music plays. We spoke & our government officials that we elected listened. | Artist currently do get paid per digital play or stream. Sadly the rate per play is roughly 1/8 of a penny. Artists on the radio get paid per play, however they get between $75-$100 per play. When an artist gets their music played via a streaming outlet their music is being played because the listener seeks the artist out & chooses to play their tracks. The radio crams whatever they want to play down your earhole. Record labels have to pay the radio stations to play their artists. #SeemsLegit | Spotify’s revenue doubled last year from $1.2 BIL to $3.3 BIL & they are estimating they will do $6 BIL in 2018. Spotify pls remember that the reason you are going to get 6 Bs this year is because of the ARTIST’S MUSIC you are charging people to hear via subscriptions or paid advertisement. Record streams = Today’s record sales. | The Music Modernization Act officially passed the U.S. House of Representative unanimously 415–0 vote Wednesday. Her name was Tracy “Mia” Green🕊 (9/29/20) PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Law enforcement sources say the man charged with the murder of a transgender woman in West Philadelphia Monday has now confessed to the killing. Police say Abdullah Ibn El-Amin Jaamia was pulled over at 41st Street and Westminster Avenue after he blew a stop sign because he was rushing a woman, Tracy “Mia” Green, to the hospital after she was shot three times around 8 a.m. With lights and sirens on, officers helped escort the Jeep Wrangler to Penn Presbyterian, where 29-year-old Green, a transgender woman, was later pronounced dead. Law enforcement sources say El-Amin Jaamia told detectives he was trying to rescue Green as she was yelling for help nearby and that he told them Green started to take off her clothes in the car, before she was shot in the neck, as they were driving. Officials have charged El-Amin Jaamia with Green’s murder, tampering with evidence, obstruction of justice and related offenses. Green is the second known transgender woman to be killed in Philadelphia this year. Dominique Rem’mie Fells was found dead and dismembered in the river near Bartrams Garden this summer. “This latest act of violence against a member of our community is a somber reminder of the epidemic of violence against trans individuals. It is a crisis that cannot be allowed to persist any further. The U.S. Marshals found 39 missing children in Georgia during a two-week mission called Operation Not Forgotten. The mission, which took place in August, resulted in the rescue of 26 children, the safe location of 13 children and the arrest of nine criminal associates in Atlanta and Macon, according to a news release. It was led by the U.S Marshals Service Missing Child Unit in conjunction with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (MCMEC) and state and local authorities. Authorities considered the victims to be some of the most at-risk and challenging cases in the area, based on indications of high-risk factors such as victimization of child sex trafficking, child exploitation, sexual abuse, physical abuse, and medical or mental health conditions, according to the news release. Days after the U.S. Marshals Service announced the rescue of 39 endangered children in Georgia, similar operations are ongoing in two other states as authorities target missing kids who may be victims of sex trafficking. In Ohio, Operation Safety Net led to the discovery of 25 children ages 13 to 18 in less than three weeks, the Marshals Service said. The operation is likely to continue into October, U.S. Marshal Peter Elliott said. A two-week operation is underway near Indianapolis, Darby Kirby, chief of the Marshals Missing Child Unit, told USA TODAY in an email Tuesday. These operations are part of efforts at the local level to locate missing children rather than a coordinated nationwide sweep, Kirby said. Since 2005, the marshals have helped recover 1,800 missing children. “If they were looking for kids every day, they would find kids every day,” said Suzanne Lewis-Johnson, CEO at RAHAB Ministries in Ohio, who worked as an FBI agent and on a Child Exploitation Task Force running operations similar to the ones conducted by the Marshals Service. Human traffickers target vulnerabilities and recruit missing children or kids who can be lured away from home, Lewis-Johnson said. Last Thursday the group of 10 rebels arrested for the Citgo sign action finalized their legal proceedings. Nothing is harder than saying goodbye, especially to an entity and/or people that you’ve grown up with in the course of your career, and life. Ive met you all at different stages in my life. Some of you may have come during the early, awkward days of my PR career; and some might have appeared during my peak. No matter how long ago we have met, it doesnt defeat the fact that weve all grown together in the time weve known each other.
