When children start to learn phonics in school they are taught these 6 sounds first - s, a, t, p, i, n This is so they can start to build simple CVC words consonant/vowel/consonant for example ‘sat’ ‘pat’ ‘pin’ ‘tin’ This enables them to start working on their reading skills right from the start. If children were taught the letters of the alphabet in order there isn’t many words you can make with the first 6 letters of the alphabet. By teaching them ‘satpin’ it enables them to start using the sounds they have learnt for reading a lot more effectively. There are so many wonderful activities you can do with your children at home to start introducing them to these letters. One week post @fraxel_us. This in-office laser treatment improves tone, texture, and radiance. I sat with numbing cream for an hour (no meds, as I was on the clock), and the actual treatment took less than 10 minutes. Did it hurt? Uh, yeah! (But not as much as childbirth.) Was crispy for a few days post treatment but nothing like the Sex and the City/Samantha Jones-post-peel moment I had in my head. Will I be more diligent with SPF? You better believe it! Starting next week, ALL students (virtual or in-person) will follow this bell schedule. HVA students are expected to attend their classes virtually at the same time as they would if in the building, although recordings will be posted online for those who cannot attend. Live lessons will take place during the first 45 minutes of each block, and the second 45 minutes will be reserved for working on assignments (although check with hour teachers for specifics). Students at school will eat lunch in their 3rd block classrooms. Students will have assigned seats in each block to allow for contact tracing should a student or teacher contract COVID-19. Students and teachers are required to wear masks while at school, and desks will be sanitized between each class period. The building will open at 7:45, and NCTHS students will wait in the library until the 8:15 dismissal to first block. If you have questions, ask your teachers. Please make sure to bring your laptop with you to school. Navigating Online Learning during COVID: In my first trimester of OT School my cohort and I have unfortunately started our journey online. Although some places have been opening and closing their facilities, many students including myself are still navigating the online learning environment. While at home distractions can arise causing you to lose your focus while being “at school”. Here’s just a couple tips that have helped me that I hope will help some of you as well. 1. Buy a planner (or two...maybe 3) and multicolored pack of pens. Using a planner to write down all your due dates and assignments is vital to staying on top of your assignments. I highly recommend color coding your classes using different colors so you can visually see what is coming up for each class. 2. Set aside a place to study that is quite and away from others to promote your learning. Talk with the members of your house to gently remind them the times you’ll be in class so you can have an uninterrupted studying space. 3. Set up a study schedule. While being online it can be extremely easy to get distracted. Set up a schedule to allow yourself to have breaks. I follow the 50/10 rule where every 50mins I take a break for 10mins. You can also follow the 20/20/20 rule where every 20mins you look away for 20 seconds at something 20ft away. This will give your eyes a sufficient amount of time to rest without getting any eye strains. Of course if you need longer breaks as well, listen to your body and take them as needed. 4. Take breaks! It is so incredibly important to take breaks for yourself in order to maintain a balanced life. Self care is key while being in school online. Your body needs the time to move around from being in the same location. Go watch a movie, take a walk, play with your furry friends, have a spa day, etc. 5. Build friendships with your cohort, although you may not be with each other in person you can still utilize Zoom, Google Meets and FaceTime. Our cohort has cohort mingles and Thursday luncheons to stay in touch with each other during this chaotic time. - @katie_to_ot on Instagram

Chcela som k tejto fotke napísať niečo veľmi krátke o ruskach ale prišla mi jedna správa do inboxu od osoby, s ktorou som pracovala 5 rokov a jej správa má posadila: “Miška pozdravujem, som velmi rada že Vás vidím s rúškami, dnes som pochovala svojho otca, ktorého zabil COVID 19, všetci doma sme boli chorí, všetkým ľuďom ktorých poznám chcem zanechať len jeden odkaz, noste rúška 🙏‼️vôbec to nieje žiadna “chripôčka”, môj otec bol hudobník a nakazil sa v kostole pred 2týždňami v nedeľu (na odpustovú slávnosť, kde spieval v kostolnom zbore )od rodiny, ktorá prišla zo zahraničia (a ako jediní prišli bez rúšok !) samozrejme karantenu neriešili ... V dedine už mame 78ludí nakazených do týždňa bolo 21 v nemocnici, nakazení sú(starí, mladí, deti), môj otec bol úplne zdravý človek plný života, nemal žiadne iné choroby...mal 72 rokov a predsa ho to zabilo... aj my ostatní z rodiny sme sa nakazili, od otca ...poviem Vám : 2 týždne v horúčkach...chcem a budem sa snažiť a odovzdať len jedno dôležité posolstvo, Nosme všetci rúška, nezodpovednosť v tejto povedzme jednoduchosti...zabíja...!Iba maličkosť / NOSME RÚŠKA 🙏” Neskôr som zistila, že ochoreli všetci v zbore, ti čo mali Ruska nie. Stacilo rusko a karanténa po návrate zo zahraničia. Je to fakt to najmenej, čo môžeme urobiť pre seba a pre druhých aby sme sa navzájom ochránili a čo najskôr mohli vrátiť do bežného života. Vy máte soplik a niekto druhý... We were at the finish line before this unfortunate World wide epidemic hit. Great location near corner of La Cienega and Melrose. Great partners . Dream turning into reality like you can imagine. This logo was an idea of mine that came from the Fleur de Lys the three musketeers and the Owl all in one. My two brothers @e_bolanos @obolanos and I have all spent time all over France, Spain, worked, lived enjoyed and connected with the best chefs, products wine makers. The basque region was something that connected the three of us in this version of @buhorouge . Bringing it to #La as a neighborhood grill. Showcasing off cuts of meat, great seafood all cooked on an oak wood grill and cast iron planchas. . . Búho means Owl in Spanish which holds a special place for me from Guatemala. The Rouge (French for red) as mentioned before from my love affair with France and time spent working and soaking her up. The French invented the restaurant for gods sake! . . Hospitality will return, it will always be there as we need it to be. We need to socialize, celebrate , enjoy great experiences. I hope that we can be a part of that for you someday with our own version of this beautiful way of life. Like any art form in life . Big news everyone! I’ve rebranded! New website, new url, new social media handles...new new new! I wanted to rebrand for a few years now and have my site and brand be more encompassing of all of the different things that I do. Yes, I am a recipe developer and photographer...but I’ve also been a professional event planner for over 7 years. I wanted a place to put my events, tablescape and flower knowledge, tips for party planning, DIYs, and more. As well as my recipes. Don’t worry, they are still there and better organized with recipe cards! It is truly an inspiration space for all aspects of events and life. You’ll notice a new name here and on the website. I didn’t want the brand name to be too suggestive of one theme, so I went with my own name! This has truly been a labor of love... mostly labor. It’s been years of creating and months of building. Lots of learning and lots of tears. And a LOT of support from family and friends. And a lot of technical support from Tyler...I’m pretty sure he’s an expert now!
