Weve got some exciting news to share! We have recently been successful for an Esmee Fairbairn funded project to digitise, catalogue and share with you some never-before-seen photographs from Ealing Studios. ‘Shooting Stars: Behind the Scenes at Ealing Studios’ will look at the photographic collection of Stills Photographer Roy Gough. He photographed some of the biggest stars of the mid 20th century including Sir Roger Moore, Audrey Hepburn, Sir Alec Guinness and Sir Michael Redgrave and worked on well-known Ealing Studios films like The Captive Heart and Whisky Galore! Over the next few months we will be sharing some of these photographs online. This image is of Sir Michael Balcon and Sir Harry Secombe on the set of the comedy-drama “Davy”. Balcon ran Ealing Studios from 1938-1955 and is a legendary figure in the British Film Industry, producing some of Ealing Studios’ most well-known films such as Passport to Pimlico and The Lavender Hill Mob. Who remembers this film?
