✨ WOMEN ARE MAGNIFICENT ✨ We are strong. We are capable. We are amazing! Do not fear birth. Prepare for it! Birth is a normal physiological process and a primal, sacred rite of passage. INFORMATION IS POWER // This account has been set up on the same principle as sex education - I would rather you were uncomfortable and not ignorant. Every birth only happens ONE time. It is a once in a lifetime event. There is no do-over. You only get one chance. Would you attempt to climb Mt Everest without thorough research, a support crew and preparation?... You would certainly not show up on the day and hope for the best! Yes, birth is a normal physiological, instinctive process, however we have been conditioned in such a way that many women have absolutely no exposure to birth and little, to no, ability to tap into these primal instincts. Please spend your time, money and energy researching pregnancy/birth/postpartum/breastfeeding. Birth trauma is very real and postpartum depression/post traumatic stress is very serious. Birth has become taboo, demonised and surrounded by messages of fear. I am frustrated and concerned with the dangerously high intervention rates. I am grateful for the science and technology available, in the event of true medical need, but are women told about the risks and side effects of intervention? Do women know they can refuse consent? You have the right to say no, the same way you can say no in the bedroom and the workplace. We have been failed by society, mass media and the current culture. All women deserve beautiful, empowered births. And to be nurtured postpartum. Surround yourself with beautiful, positive stories and messages of birth - they do exist and desperately need to rise to the surface to encourage, inspire and support women. As the wonderful Dr Michel Odent once said One cannot help an involuntary process. The point is not to disturb it. I really do believe we need to see images of birth. I wore the Fighter Tee for the labor and delivery of both of my babies, and it was a Godsend! Instead of laboring in the dreaded hospital gown, I got to be comfortable and wear something that was empowering to me. Medical staff was easily able to do my IV and epidural due to the snaps up both sides of the shirt. Immediate skin to skin after the baby’s birth was also possible due to the ease of unsnapping the shirt and I continued to wear the shirts in the weeks following birth for the ease it provided for breastfeeding! LINK IN BIO: Back in 1999 I started a solo recording project called HIGHLANDS. I made a few 5-10 minute tapes that came with short zines called “5 Minutes Of Your Time”, and gave them away to anyone who would take one. In the early 2000’s, there were a few live line ups for those songs-including @bood138 @remoteoutposts @scam_punks and a few others at different times. I ended up playing in other bands in the 2000’s and 2010’s and never returned to HIGHLANDS until recently. Daniel Westcott and I have kept in touch and have been in other bands together over the years. (Google QUEERWULF😉) Quarantine hit and I started talking to Daniel everyday and trading home solo projects. I asked him to send me blank drum beats...to write a song on drums, the way I used to do HIGHLANDS. He started sending me all kinds of stuff from his garage and we came up with these new jams. Hi 👋 Im Tia and I have recently become a member of the #SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) club. Its not a club I ever really wanted to be part of or had even heard of before but shur lookit, here we are. I was diagnosed with this mysterious unwanted gut guest last week by Melissa at the #GastroLife Clinic in Dublin who performed a 3-hour breath test. I was diagnosed on the spot after 9 months (!!!) of suffering from utter BS symptoms like: #extremebloating 🤰 (that causes my stomach to swell, by up to 6 inches at times, every day since last May), nausea (every time I ate for a while), intense stabbing and cramping pains (leaving me doubled over in pain and unable to sleep some nights), fatigue, low moods, brain fog, irritability, dizziness, cold sweats not to mention the stress of trying to get on with my busy life through all of this. I spent hundreds trying to get answers last year and have seen multiple doctors, consultants, herbalists - you name it, I tried it. It was an incredibly frustrating process especially considering that I was relying on the Irish healthcare system which is an absolute shambles! Even though I asked my doctors for a SIBO test back in July (they said they had never heard of it and sent me home with some heartburn tablets🙄) I even had a gastroscope and a colonoscopy last month after I rang my local hospital begging as I was on a waiting list until the end of the year and was handed a leaflet for IBS and sent on my way. We dont know what it is. Maybe you could get checked by a gynecologist? I was told. Even though the waiting list for a gyno is 1 year+ here in Ireland!! You see the pattern here. If theres one lesson Ive learned through all of this its that you have to be an advocate for your own health and really kick those doors down to get anywhere. Melissa at Gastrolife told me SIBO is the root cause of 70%+ of #IBS cases. Dont let them send you home with a leaflet and an IBS diagnosis. 🏆Quitting is for winners! I had to quit so many times to get to a place of knowing my purpose, loving what I do and having a more fulfilling career. I’ve had a career as a secondary school maths teacher, an auditor, a fitness instructor and an entrepreneur all in less than a decade. From a Maths degree, PGCE teaching qualification, ACA chartered accountant to PT and fitness instructor. My CV looks mad! But I never quit because it got too hard. I quit because deep down I knew my personal value was more than working myself sick, more than a title, status or pay check. I knew my purpose was bigger than just me- I just needed to let it happen. On paper I was successful but deep down it either wasn’t sustainable for my health (teaching- even though this was one of my FAVOURITE jobs I definitely worked myself sick) or didn’t serve any of my values (auditing). I’m not saying quitting was ever easy. I briefly had to say goodbye to stability, good money and nice holidays and say hello to starting from the bottom again, a knock to my pride, big risks of failing and my mum shaking her head at me because she no longer had ‘my daughter is an accountant’ bragging rights lolz. But it was definitely worth it! It’s still a work in progress but that will never stop. Life’s a journey with multiple destinations which we move through, rather than end at. Work is a huge part of that journey and second to sleep it’s where we spend most of our time- I choose to make it a fulfilling time and I am willing to quit as many times as I need to in order to get there. #flashbackfriday - @itskimngo on Instagram

When my husband joined the military, I knew he would be leaving a week after giving birth to peter but I NEVER could of imagined being in quarantine with 3 tiny humans including a new baby. My day consists of breastfeeding and bottle feeding, homeschool, cleaning diapers, laundry, cleaning when I can, and attempting to stay sane. I’ve worn this shirt 2 days in a row, let my kids stay in their pjs all weekend, and I haven’t showered in probably a week. Today has been one of my harder days. I’ve been having some ‘I’m a shitty mom’ moments. I’ll let the kids have to much screen time or I’ll get frustrated with homeschooling Agnesse (I have a new found respect for teachers and homeschooling moms). Why is it that we have such high expectations on ourselves as moms? The quarantine is weighing heavy on us all. Not having dad here and then being separated from friends and family has been a challenge. Then add postpartum on top of it all. Honestly, all I’m doing at this point is trying to keep everyone safe, healthy, and alive. We are only human. There is no such thing as a perfect mom just like there is no such thing as a perfect person. You saw Gwen honoring Carrie Fisher in her last shot, and heres what makes her a wild woman herself, The first thing that popped into my head when I found out about this project was that quote by Isadora Duncan: You were once wild here. Dont let them tame you. That quotes always felt very poignant to me because it gets at a part of myself Ive worked very hard to reclaim. As a young kid, I was talkative and energetic and fascinated by everything. I was just as comfortable telling adults all about my opinions as chatting to my peers. As I got older, I learned that my confidence made other people uncomfortable and gradually turned inward, getting more and more anxious about speaking up. Through my adolescence and young adulthood, Ive consciously worked at shaking off those expectations and learning to release that all of that innate creative energy. To me, that letting go is wildness and its led to decisions like starting college at 12 years old, moving to New York on my own at 19 and letting go of my career expectations to focus on activist work. As Boris Johnson and his abhorrent cronies continue to sloganeer protect the NHS and talk with pride about our heroic workers, Im appalled by the distasteful hypocrisy and continued negligent leadership from a failed government that has underfunded the NHS so dangerously that a 99-year-old man has to walk lengths of his back garden to raise money for essential equipment for frontline workers. Ive made these tees calling out every MP who voted against the end of the public pay cap, which in 2017 would have given the NHS and other public services a pay rise. Names likes Sir William Cash 🤔, Priti Patel and Michael Gove etc who cheered as Labours proposed amendment was voted down. If anyone wants to buy theyre £15, all the cash will be donated to the NHS for PPE equipment.
