In January 2021 Mike and I will be heading east for our next adventure in Montgomery, Alabama!! I’m honored to be joining my dear friend and total badass boss babe, Cristina Cadden, at her new (historic) wedding/arts/event venue, @the1616house as the Venue Manager, and @michael_c_hayes will be continuing to paint sometimes-naked ladies and drawing his charcoal portraits for Comicons (if we ever get to have conventions again)! Why the move?? Well, we’ve always felt San Diego wasn’t our forever home, we just hadn’t had a reason or an opportunity to settle somewhere else until now. When Corona came to town and Mike and I lost ALL of our event/convention work for 2020 and a good deal of 2021, it was as if the universe/powers that be/opportunity/whatever you want to call it was saying “Here is your chance. The door is wide open. Do something that will make your souls happy!” Now all of that is not to say that this has been an easy decision to make. I have cried a fuckton of tears over the idea of leaving. I’ve had my share of emotional breakdowns and there will be many, many more, but still, we are excited for this next chapter. Mike figured we would announce our move at the same time we announced our engagement, but I was strongly opposed to that mash up. I wanted our engagement to be cause for celebration since those moments seem so few and far between this year. Also, we have already experienced a range of unsolicited and uninformed opinions and comments about Alabama. So before any of you chose to comment with more of the same, I urge you to set aside any judgment and opinions that may creep up and just fucking be happy for us. We sure are happy. We are also well aware that AL will be a drastic change from SoCal in so many ways. And we are proud to be moving to such a historically significant city where we can stand with its residents and visitors who believe in and fight for racial justice and civil rights and continue to do the work of American heroes like Martin Luther King Jr and John Lewis and Rosa Parks. ~world suicide prevention day~ PLEASE READ THIS! ❤️ Its really important for me to use social media with good intent to spread light and positivity. I wanted to talk about the dark side of things we don’t share on here. Even if this reaches one person then its worth it for me. This is for everyone who is suffering deeply and alone. I am here to tell you that it gets better. Please hold on. I want you to know that you’re not alone, and im sure your brain is telling you that you are, but that’s not the case. I promise you there is ONE person that cares. Even if that person is me. You serve a purpose. you might not be able to see yours right now, but I promise whether its in a month or years down the line, you will find yours. Don’t overwhelm yourself. If the best thing you did today was get out of bed, thats enough. If you survived today despite all of your scary thoughts, i’m so fucking proud of you. Asking for help isn’t something to be ashamed about, its actually quite the opposite. It makes you really freaking strong. Your perspective is everything. I know life might seem pretty shitty right now, but do your best to list five things you’re grateful for. Keep focusing on the good no matter how small these things are, and eventually it’ll get easier. You may never think of things getting better but they do, you just have to stick around to see it. I’m always one message away if anyone ever needs me. Life is beautiful and I want you to be here to see it. Your story might have some hurtful chapters but it doesn’t have to end because of them. You hold the pen, make it worth reading. Because in the story of your life, no one was better suited to play you than you. You can’t mess up who you are because you are perfect as you.
