#MondayMindset blog is up: Yes, Too Much Positivity Can be Toxic written by SheEO Development Guide MJ Ryan @mjryan4178. About a decade ago, a psychologist named Barbara Fredrickson asked a simple yet profound question: what are the positive emotions for? Her research and that of many others points to the following answer: through the release of feel good hormones, to help us recover from the negative emotions, to bring our body/minds/spirits out of fight/flight/freeze and back to a relaxed state. They are meant as a recovery strategy, not an emotional bypass. Read more - link in bio. Give me an example of a compliment that is not based on looks or weight below 👇🏽⠀ ⠀ A few weeks ago, a Chulas I work with said: ⠀ ⠀ “I wish we were taught to stop giving looks based compliments, I feel so validated based on my looks but I want to be more” ⠀ ⠀ She then told us she asked her husband to stop complimenting her on her looks, I need to ask her in our Facebook group this week how that’s going 😂⠀ ⠀ But seriously we need to stop this as much as possible because we are more than just a body. And so many of us literally can’t find ourselves unless we have outside validation that we are “pretty enough” or “skinny enough” or “fit enough” and DAMN IT. We are more than that. We are intelligent creatures that have so much to give and do with our lives than trying to shrink ourselves to fit in. And honestly the world needs to be more inclusive and we need to demand that. ⠀ This chula also admitted that she never even thought of herself outside of her looks. ⠀ ⠀ She’s a mom, successful teacher, and so much more than just looks. And she’s been working really really really hard on finding herself outside of that and I am oh so very proud of her. She’s been taking the time to listen to her body. She’s working out because she wants to feel good. AND she even ate her mother in laws pupusas which she had not had in YEARS. and she’s just feeling better. Yes she had bad days we all do. But she’s got the tools to pick herself up and chooses to keep going towards a life that feels good for her! ⠀ So chula, if you’re looking to learn how to respect your body and nourish it in a way that’s more than just trying to shrink it to fit into a societal mold that is not inclusive. ✨Click on the link in my bio and apply to my 1:1 program today! ✨ - @your.latina.nutritionist on Instagram

“When your ready to share your beautiful story, we will be right by your side.” ❤️ 1st of May a very important month, May is known for the awareness of M.E./CFS EDS and fibromyalgia. CFS is short for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and M.E. is also short for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. Cfs/m.e affects 250,00 people in the uk and 17 million people around the world today, living inside a body with cfs and m.e is honestly the most horrific thing. Cfs/m.e is a horrible illness that is constantly attacking every part of your body, cfs leaves you feeling extremely exhausted, unbearable fatigue all the time, nausea, weakness, eye sensitivity, sound sensitivity, joint and muscular pain, cfs leaves you house bound, bed bound, the list of symptoms is endless. I always feel like I’m forever dragging my body through day to day life, with no energy and fighting awful symptoms every minute of the day. I was diagnosed with cfs at 13 years old, so it will be 11 years this year that I’ve been battling with cfs, growing up I didn’t know anyone that was going through the same thing, except my lovely mum who is also a cfs fighter, so I’m also speaking for my mum too today ❤️ for a long time I thought I was the only one, until social media was invented. Through social media, I have got to know so many wonderful people who are going through exactly the same thing, in so many ways social media has saved my life. Spreading awareness and doing posts like these I believe your all making a huge difference in people’s lives, and that’s what so many of us need is just to be heard, always listened to, and understood. Cfs comes with so many burdens, trials, and difficulties, juggling your illness and your life at the same time is never an easy thing, but through all of this we will find each other, find true friends, find a loving community, and someday we will find happiness again. We learn to fight through each day and find inner strength that we didn’t know we had. Remember one thing in life, don’t be scared to share your story and your struggles, people will be so inspired by your bravery. ❤️ Please help us spoonies today to spread all the awareness you can. 🤝 - @amyruthnorris on Instagram

October is Baby Loss Awareness Month. It’s an incredible opportunity to shine a light on a subject that is all too often a taboo and give people an insight into the heartbreak that it involves. However, when I was pregnant I felt like I couldn’t engage with it. I was already carrying around a constant fear about losing my pregnancy because of previous losses. Being faced with post after post of other people’s heartbreaking experiences was more than I could bear. If this is you right now – pregnant or not – and it all feels too much, it’s ok to step away. Just because you can’t engage with it doesn’t mean you don’t care. Give yourself permission to leave it to people who feel strong enough right now. This is your time to look after yourself and that is ok. And if you choose, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to be the strong one in the future. #finallypregnant #finallyparenting #pregnant #pregnancy #pregnancyafterloss #podcast #thehangout #ivfsuccess #ivfmum #ivfbaby #motherhood #ttc #ttccommunity #fertility #infertility #secondaryinfertility #fertilitytreatment #fertilityclinics #IVF #babyloss #babylossawarenessweek #babylossawarenessweek2020 #blaw #blaw2020 #waveoflight - @tryingyears on Instagram

What is play based learning OR learning through play? If you have a young child in daycare or starting/in kindergarten/starting virtual learning you may have heard either of these terms a lot or are just starting to hear about them. These terms really do not need to be overwhelming. In this post I have broken down what they mean and have given a few examples on how they are implemented NATURALLY. Your child has literally been learning through play since infancy and that’s even without your guidance or direction. Swipe ➡️ to read more about this and to see just a few examples. This is why in Kindergarten we dedicate so much time to open play, it is to promote play based learning or learning through play. It allows the children to naturally make learning connections and build on those foundations in a way that makes sense to them. Yes it is great to be a part of it every now and then and to help point out/facilitate the learning that is happening but overall your child is very capable of this even if they do not realize all the learning that is taking place. ⭐️ CHALLENGE: Next time you see your child playing whether it’s with blocks, playdough, pretend food etc grab a paper and pen and note down what you see, what they are doing and try to make/realize the learning connections and opportunities that are naturally presenting themselves. You will be surprised at how many there are in one area of play. I hope this is helpful 💛 - @mombrainactivities on Instagram

What happens when our inner child is seeking to heal a childhood wound in our adult relationship? So this is really like a core, core idea of what I believe. The Imago Relationship Therapy founders, the Hendrixes, in their book, Getting the Love You Want, talk a lot about this. When we have a wound in childhood, its looking to be healed in the context of relationship. So much healing needs to be done in the context of relationship. Thats why often self-healing on its own is not enough. We need a support system, a self help group, a counselor, a pastor, somebody that we can have that relationship that facilitates a space for healing. So I use the analogy like a record player, or a CD, even. Do you remember when music used to be on physical media? (Its okay if you dont!) If there was like a scratch in the record or in the CD, it would just skip and it would play the same part over and over. And you would have to lift up the needle of the record player and move it to keep the record going, or take the CD and wipe it to clean it and then put it back in and the song would play through. So, a childhood wound or a childhood trauma seeking to heal in adult relationships is like that scratch in the record, or that scratch in the CD. Its stuck, Its going to keep replaying that wound over and over until its healed, until through a safe relationship that scratch is able to be cleaned off the CD, or that needle is able to move, and then youre able to continue on. @beyondmeat burger vs a beef burger? Many people think that the new plant-based meat alternatives such as the Beyond Burger are not much healthier than a traditional beef burger since they’re essentially ultra processed foods high in sodium and ingredients like canola oil. However, a recent randomized crossover trial known as SWAP-MEAT compared the effects of 8 weeks of changing 2 or more servings of animal meat (beef or pork) with a plant-based meat alternative (supplied by @beyondmeat). The study found that participants experienced a reduction in cholesterol and body weight while on the plant-based portion of the trail (not surprising since the plant-meats don’t have any cholesterol and are higher in fibre and lower in saturated fat). Additionally, they found that when participants switched from the plant-based meats to the animal meat, they did not experience an increase in TMAO (a known risk factor for cardiovascular disease). The authors speculate that this could be because of beneficial changes to their gut microbiota. Finally, plant-based products are better for the environment and the more people that switch over, the better we can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and make shifts towards a more sustainable food system. Personally, I don’t eat them very often, but I support people choosing these foods over the meat alternatives on their path to transitioning to a more whole food, plant-based diet 🌱👊🏼 - @plant_fueled on Instagram

When did you lose peace with your body? It probably wasnt recently. We were probably really young. What is the first memory you have of your body? Were you at peace then? Did those first memories hold judgement, comparison, or shame? Most of us would answer yes. Too short, legs that were too long, too weak, too many freckles, skin that was too dark, hair that was too straight, too curly, too big, too messy. Hearing the grown ups around us complain about their body and looking down at ourself and assuming the same terrible things. Hearing parents justify our body to doctors or shift the blame to us being out of control or loving candy too much or not eating the healthy foods they prepared. We lose peace with our body so young. And then we spend the next 10-80 years trying to get it back by doing things that only disconnect and harm us more. Body peace doesnt come with losing weight, or starting another diet, or getting pregnant. It takes a lot of intentional and invested work to dismantle the fat phobic racist patriarchal system of beliefs that stole it away. You are worthy of that work. You can get that peace back and I so deeply want to help. ✨ PCOS Body Peace is an 8 week online small group that will support your work back to peace. Over the years I’ve developed a bit of a routine for dealing with a flare-up. Sometimes I can feel one coming on before it properly hits and it’s almost like my brain switches on a button and goes into “self-care mode” to try and get me through. Sometimes they work better than others but having these coping mechanisms clear in my mind makes me feel like I’ve got a plan. And my brain likes plans so it instantly calms me down (and relaxes that gut-brain axis!). Who else has developed a flare-up routine or toolkit? What’s in it? - @youvegutthis on Instagram

Good morning to everyone except influencers who tell people that they “don’t need to eat fruits/vegetables” and to just drink red/green powders instead (use code becky10 at checkout)☀️ The actual worst. Anyway, red/green powders certainly can’t hurt, but by no means are they necessary, a magic bullet, and certainly should not replace you eating fruits/veggies at every meal. Seriously. You don’t need to “do the most” and spend hundreds of dollars on supplements every month. Save this post and check the swipe images for some thoughts on what’s actually worth investing your money in ♥️ Supplements should be just that: an addition and back-up insurance policy to an already awesome way of eating. Don’t forget to consult your doctor prior to supplementing or making any changes to your routine (: Make sure to invest your supplement brands. Walmart, Target, CVS, Costco, etc may not be the best place to buy supplements as the cheap stuff is often low-quality or full of synthetic junk that the body can’t utilize or absorb efficiently. Especially be careful with fish oil - stick with brands like SFH or Nordic Naturals. A few of my favorite supp brands include Thorne Research and Pure Encapsulations. Natural Calm magnesium gummies can also have my vote for president. Happy Sunday, Tag your friends. Happy to answer questions in the comments 💛 - @lauriechristineking on Instagram

TRUTHBOMB 🤯 . You can change your job, change your relationship...move countries . But there comes a moment when you’ve done that enough times to realise that in all those situations that weren’t great, that you were the common denominator. Ouch 😣 . You see, we can’t avoid ourselves (Although of course we can try 🤷🏻♀️) . The external stuff, the stuff that’s not working for us in life can be the trigger (if we let it) for us to start to look within . And it’s actually one of the biggest GIFTS we can have because it means we finally start to get to know ourselves, we meet ourselves wholly & completely. From the inside-out . From that place we get to fully choose what we bring into our lives. Not from a place of escaping. But from a place of wholeness 🌟🌟 - @_clairebradshaw_ on Instagram

If you’re triggered when you hear these terms, you’re hearing the sound of your own judgements and reactions, not what’s really there. Terms like “anti-diet,” “fat positive,” and “heath at every size” trigger the heck out of people, but that’s because they’re viewing these terms through a black-and-white lens and completely missing the nuance. You can be anti-diet, eat loads of fruits and vegetables and care about your health. Diets have been scientifically proven to only work short term and contribute to disordered eating, metabolic damage and weight gain long term, which actually makes diets themselves anti-heath. Fat positivity is about reducing fatphobia, weight bias, and promoting unconditional self-acceptance. It’s not trying to recruit people to become fat (FYI obesity is a really problematic term). Health at every size is an acknowledgment of the incredible weight stigma people in larger bodies face when they receive medical counsel, and strives to promote healthful behaviors and non-diet interventions for everyone no matter their size. It is not suggesting that one can be healthy at every size, rather that one can pursue health at every size without going on a diet. Next time you’re triggered, take a breath and summon all the curiosity you have. There might be more to the story than you realize, and you’ll only discover that if you seek more information. 💛🤓 . . . . . #nuance #blackandwhitethinking #antidiet #dietcultureistoxic #dietculture #haes #healthatanysize #fatpositive #fatpositivity #triggers #weightbias #weightstigma #selfsabotage #traumainformedcare #listen #bingeeatingrecovery #bulimiarecovery #anarexiarecovery #orthorexiarecovery #weightloss #dietplan #caloriedeficitdiet #weightstigmaawarenessweek #wsaw #wsaw2020 - @irismcalpin on Instagram

If youre an empath youve probably found yourself suffering on behalf of everything. Youve probably also felt so overwhelmed by the overwhelm that you got desensitized and stopped feeling things at all. Compassion fatigue is often experienced by healthcare professionals but most compassionate and empathetic people are susceptible to it really. And if theres one way to manage and prevent it - it is by doing whatever it takes to take care of yourself better. Remember, we show up for the world better when we show up for ourselves better and we serve the world better by serving ourselves better. The idea of self-care as selfish is silly. Self-care is simply the quiet time, rest, care and kindness you give to yourself while away from it all to be able to come back and give the world the very best version of you! If you identify yourself as someone who is feeling this right now, I hope you make it your number one priority to schedule a day off and give yourself all the tender care you need 💚 - @selfworkco on Instagram

You may have heard of this study when 2000 mother’s schedules where surveyed and the results came back that motherhood is equivalent to 2.5 jobs. 98 hours per week on average. When I looked at the results closely, I realised the mums surveyed had children aged between 5-12. This didn’t include the mothers with babies, toddlers and preschoolers. So I’m guessing it didn’t include the nighttime hours that mothers/parents are often doing too. I’ll leave you to do the math on that one... Being a mother is so much more than a job or career, but it still requires our time, energy, focus and attention for a large amount of hours. It is a fact, the mental, physical and emotional load on mothers is heavy - you are not making it up, being dramatic or imagining it. The top things this survey came back with as being life savers was the help of grandparents and babysitters, kids shows, drive through meals, baby wipes and iPads. Don’t feel guilty when you need help, reach out.♥️ . Tag a mama. Gem x @themotherhoodprojectnz Study conducted by American juice company ‘Welch’ in 2018. . Maternal Ambivalence Barbara Almond is the author of The Monster Within—The Hidden Side of Motherhood She wrote the book to normalize Maternal Ambivalence. This idea that we can loath and love motherhood all in the same breath, thought, moment and day. That we have created a culture of shame regarding this concept, and have silenced mothers, when it is so very real and experienced by so many. Almond, speaks about ambivalence in general, outside of motherhood, being so natural and so real; mixed emotions about events and people. So why would this experience, one of ultimate sacrifice, be any different? “Everyone feels it, but has trouble talking about it, and those who do speak up raise feelings of alarm in those who are pushing these feelings out of consciousness” ( B. Almond, 2010). What does it look like, sound like or feel like? Being a loving mother who resents the sound of a 2am cry when she knows she will be up feeding her colicky baby. Being so grateful for your children but grieving your career, social life and the quietness of the home. Anxiously excited that your child is starting school but ridden with fear and unease as you send them off everyday. The list is endless and sometimes very unique to each person. “... maternal ambivalence can be born and digested within individual women to produce creativity and growth, maybe the writing of it can benefit a wider group of mothers and even influence the cultural representations of motherhood that exert such pressure on women. Our own maternal ambivalence being of course inextricably entwined with societies deeply ambivalent relationship to mothers and what they represent “ ( Rosalind Howell,2016). - @mindonlinetherapy on Instagram

You train hard all week and its time to enjoy some well deserved rest. But why cant you stop thinking about food 😫 Why are you SO much hungrier on rest day? Here are 9 reasons that could be why 👇🏼 1. You arent eating enough carbs on rest day. YES - even if you arent training your body still needs carbs. Attempting to severely restrict intake of carbs because you dont need them results in your body telling you NEED them more. helloooo cravings! 2. You arent eating enough carbs on training day- Same thing applies here. Your body needs energy! Give it what it needs! 3. You arent eating enough protein! My pro performance nutrition program athletes can attest to this. Almost every athlete I begin working with is not eating enough protein. This leaves you and your muscles hungry! 4. You are restricting intake on rest day. When you drastically reduce calories on rest day, of course, you will be hungry! 5. You are under-fueling on training day. Underfueling goes further than carbohydrate intake. What is your meal/snack timing like? What about vitamins and minerals? Eating around training? 6. You arent eating full meals. I SEE THIS ONE ALL THE TIME. You need to eat full meals on rest day. By skimping on your meals, you will end up eating/snacking all day resulting in you thinking you are eating all day! 7. Exercise blunts your appetite! 8. You are telling yourself you arent allowed to fuel on rest day. Even if you just laid in bed all day and didnt get up - you would still need to eat at least 3 meals a day!!!!! 9. Every day is different. You will have different levels of hunger on different days. And that is OKAY! Honor your hunger and enjoy fueling your body! More questions about fueling? Apply to work 1:1 in my pro performance nutrition program 👊🏼 - @reilly.beatty.rd on Instagram

Creating a new experience or a new way of life for ourselves requires us to leave behind certain familiar parts.⠀ ⠀ This includes thoughts, behaviors, emotions, and sometimes even relationships that have become far too comfortable. ⠀ ⠀ To others, it may look like you are 100% committed to your healing in the endless pursuit of alternative therapies and quest to perfect your diet & lifestyle, and you may even believe this yourself.⠀ ⠀ 👉🏼But ask yourself, “Do I really see myself getting better?”⠀ ⠀ Because if you were to get better, life as you know it would change. And change is scary to our brains. ⠀ ⠀ 🧠This is why it’s so important to have a daily practice devoted to cultivating the new version of yourself.⠀ ⠀ By creating new habits, we can escape the subconscious programming that continues to produce the same results day after day.⠀ ⠀ It was Louise Hay who said, “If you accept a self-limiting belief, then it will become a truth for you.”⠀ ⠀ In Vital-Side, we flip the script. If you visualize and repeatedly reinforce self-expanding beliefs, THAT will become your truth.⠀ ⠀ How does this work❓⠀ ⠀ Think of it this way: your brain doesn’t contain memories, it *is* memories.⠀ ⠀ Memories form when our neurons respond to outside stimuli and compounds to create the neural wiring in our brains.⠀ ⠀ By continuing to think the same thoughts and engage in the same behaviors day in and day out, we continue to strengthen those connections.⠀ ⠀ Through consciously creating new thoughts and habits that illicit new, positive emotions, we can begin to form neural pathways that are aligned with what we want most for ourselves—a life of vitality.⠀ ⠀ 💎By teaching my clients to overcome the fear of change using scientifically-proven brain-changing techniques, they can discover the path to sustainable, long-term healing.⠀ ⠀ If I did it, you can too.✨⠀ ⠀ I made a video just for you, so you can learn more about my healing journey and how I recovered. We all have those days dont we where we just dont feel motivated to take action? I definitely know that this happens to me. Its an inner obstacle that I already know will come up and stop me moving towards where I want to be. So I plan for those occasions in advance. Here are a couple of things I have in my plan to keep myself motivated and keep my mojo cup brimming. When I dont feel motivated I will: 1. Remind myself why Im choosing to do this and the benefits Ill receive by doing it. 2. Tell myself, I know you dont feel like it Jo, so just do a little bit. And then a little bit more. And I promise that Ill reward myself for taking that action. Do you ever plan ahead to counter the times youll lack motivation? Sometimes, we’re biologically hungry-please eat, you have unconditional permission to do so. AND sometimes, we’re hungry for something else but we don’t sit with the hunger long enough to figure out what it is. . The need for recognizing this type of hunger is really important. Being hungry for food is something else your body needs which you can satisfy by eating, but the hunger which is not for food can only be satisfied if you recognize it and channelize into proper direction. Microgreens can be added to most of your meals for a little crunch and a boost of nutrition!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When compared to their mature counterparts, microgreens are more nutrient-dense. One study from the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry for example showed that red cabbage microgreens had 40 times more vitamin E and six times more vitamin C than mature red cabbage.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Microgreens have been shown to have more folate, vitamin C, vitamin A, B vitamins, and antioxidants lutein and beta-carotene (especially high in cilantro microgreens).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Why does this happen? 🌱⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Think about how much beautiful energy lives within the tiny sprout and microgreen of a plant as it’s gathering all the food and energy to become its fullest version of itself? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Well if you harvest the plant right after germination, all those nutrients the plant needs to grow and become the fullest version of itself are right there and concentrated. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Fresh microgreens are best eaten raw to obtain the most nutrients and the flavor is best then. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ They’re really delicious in salads, thrown into smoothies, and on sandwiches because they’re much lighter in texture and their flavors mesh really well.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You can buy microgreens at the farmer’s market or many grocery stores, but if you’re interested in learning how to grow them at home, I have a full article on that on the blog for you! Simply search for “sprouting” and you’ll find it!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Do you currently use microgreens weekly? An unhealthy body can lead to mental health symptoms, but it works the other way around too! Anxiety and depression can lead to an unhealthy body! . More words of wisdom from @drmarkhyman . Repost from @drmarkhyman . If you want to avoid stress, you’ve been born in the wrong era. Chronic stress has become an epidemic in our society where faster is better and we attempt to pack more obligations into our ever-expanding schedules. . Experts have long known a relationship exists between stress, blood sugar and belly fat. In the face of chronic stress, insulin increases. This drives the relentless metabolic dysfunction that leads to weight gain, insulin resistance and ultimately diabetes. . When you’re stressed, your adrenal glands release hormones like adrenaline and cortisol that flood your system, raising your heart rate, increasing your blood pressure, making your blood more likely to clot, damaging your brain’s memory center, increasing belly fat storage and generally wreaking havoc on your body. . So what can we do about it? . Understanding the difference between misogyny and sexism is an important first step toward understanding how we create positive change. Of course, the lived experience of misogyny and sexism is not uniform or universal—both intersect with other forms of entrenched prejudice (like race, class, etc.) but this is meant to serve as a general guide. This is my interpretation of Kate Manne’s very thorough analysis, from her book, “Down Girl: The Logic of Misogyny.” If this interests you, I recommend checking that out. - @thefemalesex on Instagram

This was the final slide of my last post, but I thought it deserved it’s own place on my feed. In order to move forward, it’s important to understand and acknowledge the history of Indigenous peoples being harmed by colonialism, and the oppressive structures that continue to exist in today’s society. It’s also important to recognize the resiliency and strength of Indigenous peoples. Teachers need to remember to celebrate Indigenous peoples in their classrooms. That was honestly a big motivation in creating my poster series. I wanted to celebrate the accomplishments of contemporary Indigenous peoples and acknowledge the amazing work they are doing in the world. “How do I reset my metabolism?” Die 🤷🏻♂️ It truly would be nice if our bodies had convenient reset buttons just like the WiFi does, but that is unfortunately not the case. And anybody that tries to sell you a “reset” anything that has to do with the body is likely full of shit. I think I understand what people mean when they say “how do I reset my metabolism”, they probably mean how do I increase my metabolic rate after experiencing metabolic adaptations to, presumably, a caloric deficit and weight loss. We do this with reverse dieting, incrementally increasing calories with aims at allowing individuals to maintain on higher calories than they currently are after a fat loss diet. As for hormones, yes these can be manipulated, but not by me nor any other online coach that is selling a program and is not a medical doctor or endocrinologist. Seek profile advise for hormone help and if unsure if you’re levels are optimal, go ask your GP to check you out. As far as the gut microbiome, as a scientific community we still don’t have a vast understanding of how it works, so no 8-week reset program will either. Share ❤️ - @noahdavidlee on Instagram

And truth is, this hits home🏡 to me because back in college... my healthy eating turned into a bad problem👎🏼 that actually resulted in me gaining weight after I thought I had completed my weight loss journey💔 . For one fit babe👯♀️ I recently worked with in my program, she was always binging on peanut butter🥜 and literally couldnt allow it in the house. While giving her personalized calorie range was helpful and the first step of the TSN weight loss method... it wasnt going to be enough👀 . Over the past 13 weeks we worked hard on breaking down her food rules👊🏼 in addition to tracking her calories🤳🏼 to make sure she was eating the right portions for her body and not avoiding foods just because they arent healthy❤️ . And honestly, now this babe eats more bread and carbs that she had previously labeled as forbidden AND shes down over 10 pounds!🎉🎉🎉 . All I gotta say is if you struggle with binging on healthy foods like peanut butter and you are actively trying to avoid🙅🏼♀️ unhealthy ones like bread... this could be part of the reason why its hard to hit your calories for weight loss and you lose control around food!🙏🏻 . As I plan education for our team I have realized we need a balance of these three interests to grow. Technical Education is important, but it’s only part of helping our team live their best life. With wealth building we have to help them learn how to be profitable but I also think it’s important to expose them to life experiences that help them expand their life goals. When we hold events or travel for education I always consider how that experience will help them see parts of life that may help them set bigger goals for themselves. Over the last few months I have also learned the importance of supporting the mental health of my team. How do we address the value of work/life balance and coach them through challenging life experiences to allow them to be the best version of themselves in and out of the salon. As I create education for our team I work on providing all three elements to help them grow. How has mental health effected salon life for you? Is it a part of your education goals? It feels strange to write about perfectionism in the wake of our country losing RBG. But this is why I think it’s important now more than ever. Perfectionism doesn’t just come up on a very personal level. It can hold many of us back in how we show up for bigger things in life - like how we interact with our political system. Did you know that 43% of eligible voters did not vote in 2016 when Trump got elected? How many of those folks felt that their vote didn’t matter? That they couldn’t make a big or perfect change to the system? Yesterday I gave an interview for @glamour on why individuals feel overwhelmed and depressed about politics these days, and why people may feel held back from getting involved. And I talked about perfectionism. About how if we don’t have time to volunteer hours/weeks of our time, we don’t volunteer at all. Or if we only have $10 to donate to the cause we may not bother because we think it doesn’t matter. In our pressure-filled world it can be hard to show up imperfectly, or when we are unsure if the outcome will end up perfect. But that is exactly what is needed of us right now. Does perfectionism hold you back in any ways that don’t just affect you, but larger systems outside of yourself? **Reminder that my course “Freedom from Perfectionism: How to take back your time and live a more authentic life” comes out Monday! It is only available for two weeks - and is 30% off for the first week with code F2020. Because....come on. How will you show up imperfectly this week? - @drjensf on Instagram

Going through the experience of infertility and/or loss can have a hugely negative impact on our self confidence and often means we lose all faith in our body, because its not doing the one thing we want it to. When we are finally pregnant we need to try to restore that faith in ourselves and our body. Not only will it help us emotionally because we will feel at one with ourselves, it will hopefully reduce our anxiety because we wont be second guessing ourselves all the time. This absolutely goes into parenting too. Take a moment and remind yourself. I trust my body. I trust myself. Repeat as often as you need to hear it. Internalised fat phobia, when recognised inside of you, can be one of those ohhhhh moments especially when its taken up a lot of space inside your world. Internalised fat phobia is when you believe the stereotypes about fat people and attribute them to yourself, and also informs the lens of how you see other fat people. Noticing where your IFP shows up and doing some work around that can be incredibly liberating and frees you up to live your life more aligned with values you determine internally - rather than values based on trying to reduce the chance of a stigma experience from a fat phobic environment. Also, if youre looking to improve your health, unpack your IFP first, its absolutely essential. So much of what we are told about health is rooted in fat phobia and weve all internalised that. . . A note on the examples in the final point of the post - youre not bad for doing these things, and not all of them will be rooted in IFP for every single person. As you read the examples, notice how it feels in your body. Is it something you really want to do, or is it to ward off the possibility of stigma? Even if its a protective mechanism, it doesnt mean you have to rip it away, its likely helped you to feel safe enough to exist. Its just up to you now if you want to challenge that or not. . . Raise your hand if you’ve ever been in one of those food situations where someone won’t take “no thanks” for an answer 🙋🏼♀️ . . Sure, Intuitive Eating (IE) involves making peace with all foods you find satisfying and learning to enjoy them, guilt free, in social settings. But IE is also about learning to connect to your body and eat in ways that align with how you’d like to feel. Sometimes, this means accepting food and enjoying it! Other times, this may mean saying “no thanks.” . . But that doesn’t mean refusing food is always easy or comfortable…especially since food is one of the ways that many people express love! One of the things that has infuriated me the most over the last 5 years, is how persistently the UK and Europe as a whole, has bleated on about how they simply cannot cope with the overwhelming numbers of displaced people. They have fiercely stuck by the narrative that we are full as if we dont have the resources or space. You would be 100% forgiven for believing it given how much they repeat it. You would also be forgiven for thinking that we have taken in much larger numbers than we actually have. They consistently insinuate this too. But this is a grossly exaggerated lie, to convince us that we cant help, and even that we have done enough (!) which is propaganda that is just as harmful as the bogus claims of refugees comin ere to take our jobs. 85% of hosting nations are in the developing world, where resources and capacity are considerably less than the entire continent of Europe, which in itself has taken in ONLY 11% of the total global population of refugees. We are not full. We have not done enough. We are participating in the deaths of Black and brown people at our borders who need us THE MOST. Not on my watch and I hope not on yours either. Writing to your MP is a power you can exercise from your chair / bed / bath. Even if your MP is a full on nob head, keeping the pressure ON is key, and keeping active challenges apathy. Supporting @safepassageuk is a must, to help fight for safe passage. They are currently taking the home office to court ✊🏽 which they need donations for. Supporting @refugeecommunitykitchen and @mobilerefugeesupport who are down on the ground in Calais and Dunkirk feeding, clothing, and caring for displaced people 🙏🏼 Keep up the truth conversations. Challenge these regurgitations of propaganda when you hear them. We ALL have the power to make a difference so we must USE It. Think critically and question everything. #standforhumanity [Image: Text that reads the stats above re 85% of hosting nations for displaced people (refugees) being in developing countries and continent of Europe taking in only 11% of the total global population of displaced people. THIS FEELS WEIRD TO WRITE... Given the current state of the world, talking about how much money I made last month feels super f*ing weird right now. But I knew that by not sharing, I wasnt helping anyone. So I shared. If you saw my stories yesterday, then you know that I just closed my biggest month in the history of my business at over $25k in revenue. And heres where it gets interesting... Almost $20k of that ($19,938 to be exact) came from a $37 offer. 🤯 But heres the crazier part... This was originally a core piece of an online course that Ive been trying to sell for $497. I just ran the numbers and in 2019, I made a total of $12,252 from that $497 course. And in just one month of selling Slay Your Sales Page (my $37 iteration of that $497 course), I blew past that number. Selling the $497 course felt so HARD for me. Like pulling teeth. And just by pulling out a piece of that original offer, re-working it, adding in some killer bonuses and re-launching it at a crazy-low price, I had a blockbuster month in my biz! My point - it is so critical in business to be able to recognize when something isnt working and be open to changing what were doing. Be open to experimenting and trying new things. Know that business can feel easy and fun. It doesnt need to feel hard (minus taxes) and it doesnt need to look exactly like the big guru you look up to. Be ok with making your own decisions and walking your own path. If you want to get the WHOLE breakdown of my low-ticket offer funnel and see just how easy it is to get one up and running in your business, then I would love to see you inside The Connect & Convert Club for this months live training. Its happening next week and the doors to get in for April close tonight at midnight EST. How do you do with change? Leaving a relationship that isn’t quite right? Starting that new job? Moving? Branching out into a new hobby? Many perfectionists will avoid change because we are uncertain if we can do the next thing “perfectly.” I’ve been working on my own perfectionism for years. And I’ve found that being willing to change and try new things is a huge antidote to perfectionism taking over my life and keeping me playing small. For example, next Monday I’m releasing my first course - Freedom from Perfectionism: How to Take Back Your Time and Live a More Authentic Life. And while I have taught courses in a universities, I have never offered a course to the general public. When I first thought about it, the idea was terrifying! Putting myself out there in this new way that might fail?! Creating something I love and think is important that others may criticize?! Showing up in a non-traditional way as an educator and a psychologist?! This was all very new and a bit scary. So I followed my own advice. I got started, despite the fear it wouldn’t be perfect. I put out a release date (Sept 21st), I told you all (who I hold near and dear). And as soon as I embraced that I cannot do this perfectly the first time, I started enjoying it! Yesterday someone asked me how the course launch is going and I told them “I should be shaking in my boots, but all I feel is excitement.” That is why overcoming perfectionism looks like. Meeting the discomfort with bravery so we can show up in the world. What about you - has perfectionism ever kept you back from change? Have you ever spent too long waiting to make the jump? Let me know in the comments! Link for the waitlist to my new course in bio! - @drjensf on Instagram

The person behind this account is a survivor. Let it be known that I’m pro-accountability in whatever form or way a survivor seeks it. We all seek healing and accountability in different ways - there is no “right” way. What I do know is this: if you’re not centering survivors you need to unfollow/unfriend and afterwards, take a moment to sit with why holding people accountable makes you uncomfortable. Accountability is love in action - it’s healing in action. #survivor #healing #accountability #communityhealing #stopvictimblaming - @princesa_kata on Instagram

We cant control what other people say to us. But we do have control over what we think. Sometimes there are people in our lives that may say things that are well intentioned in their minds, but hurtful towards our self-worth. #crownthebrown - @jhundalcounselling on Instagram

I don’t believe there is anything wrong with being in a certain type of shape, making a larger income, wearing makeup and stylish clothes, etc. In some cases the workouts that we do, the make-up that we put on, and even our occupation can come from a distracting place of trying to be worthy instead of doing those things out of love for ourselves and love we want to extend to others. When babies are born we do not look at them and question if they are ‘worth’ something if they have a particular outfit on at are a certain shape. Their very presence and existence is precious. It is a life. It can be a hard message to believe in today’s world of marketing, products, and beliefs (I’ve been there and still process on the daily) but I’ve come to find that if I truly love myself I will act in ways that are life giving and whole verses an endless chase to pay a due that isn’t expected of me- and doesn’t exist. True love will sculpt me into a person of character, grace, and one of serenity because I know purpose. That will outpour naturally in what I do. Guess what? That gift is here for you now. Will you take action and receive it? We are so used to relying on others’ opinions for validation, that it can be hard to step back and realize that someone’s opinion is much more a reflection of where they’re at, rather than anything objectively true about us. Has anyone ever commented on your weight gain negatively? I don’t want to generalize too much, but we can pretty much always assume they’re struggling with some aspect of their body image/relationship to food. And it goes in the other direction too: has anyone ever complimented you on your weight loss? While it might have been well-intentioned, they’re expressing envy or admiration because they’ve been taught that thin = better, and they’re probably still stuck in the never-ending cycle to achieve thinness themselves. In general, I try and steer away from body-related comments, because 1) it perpetuates the fat phobic notion that small bodies are more desirable and larger bodies are less desirable *no thank you*, and 2) you have NO idea what someone else is going through, and what weight gain or weight loss means to them. It could involve an eating disorder, medical condition, or something that’s harder to describe and just super personal! I want to mention that this isn’t just about comments, either. We all know that “look” of recognition someone gives when your body has changed in some way. It is so hard, but always try to remind yourself: it’s a reflection of them, not me. Bonus: silently wish them well on their journey, and remind yourself that you’re kicking ass on yours! - @the_selfcare_rd2be on Instagram

We are all so strong, but it’s okay to have moments that are raw. Today I am tired, not motivated, and dragging my body through the day. Sometimes that’s okay - your body and mind are telling you that this is what is needed. So, I’m going to allow myself to feel bad for myself - it was a rough night. And with that said, I give you permission to unleash your personal struggles as well. We all need an outlet. Sometimes it’s okay that misery loves company. As much as we all love positivity, we can’t appreciate it nor should we fake it when we have other feelings going on. So, let’s own those first. 𝗜’𝗺 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗽𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆. Unlike most diets, intuitive eating (anti-diet approach to health created by @evelyntribole & @elyseresch) is 🌟EVIDENCE-BASED🌟 (~125 studies to date📚!) & encourages you to listen to your body/eat what you want WITHOUT conditional terms or restriction. When people who are accustomed to dieting first hear about IE, the idea of trusting your body and allowing full permission to enjoy all foods (as medically & ethically able) may seem a bit scary. . This is a completely understandable feeling considering that diet culture has instilled in us that food and our bodies are things that must be “controlled” for our “health” 🤨 However, research suggests that quite the opposite is true. In fact, too much control (or restriction) often leads to binge eating and a poor relationship with food, which can be harmful to both your physical and mental health. . 📝On the flip side, research on intuitive eating has demonstrated success when it comes to improving our physical and mental health ranging from HIGHER self-esteem, well-being, variety of foods eaten, body appreciation & acceptance, HDL (good cholesterol), interoceptive awareness, proactive coping skills & life satisfaction to LOWER disorder eating, emotional eating, triglycerides, blood pressure & body dissatisfaction. . ❓Question time! For those of you who identify as intuitive eaters or are currently working on your intuitive eating journey - what benefits have you noticed?! For those that are new to IE - what questions do you have? . . . #intuitiveeating #intuitiveeatingofficial #intuitiveeatingbenefits #antidiet #antidietdietitian - @nutrition.by.rd on Instagram

I used to think I was really authentic. I shared just enough (and sometimes a little too much) of myself to show how open I was. I was an open book! When I encountered the idea that I was being inauthentic, I was pretty indignant. I thought I knew myself pretty well. I equated inauthenticity to being a fake or a phony. But then I learned that it isnt fakery at all, its just human nature. I realised that we are all inauthentic to some extent. We do what we need to do to fit in, to be loved and to survive. Sometimes its consciously - I was definitely inauthentic in my corporate job, because sharing my true feelings about some things may have got me fired! Yet even though I was vaguely aware of it, it still took a psychological toll. Then there are times we dont consciously realise that were not being our authentic selves. Weve moulded ourselved to fit in with what others need us to be. We tone down the parts of ourself that we were told are not good. We meet expectations. We become palatable. Sometimes we do this to protect ourselves. For example, if you learned that sharing your difficult feelings was too much for people - or that youd be shamed for doing so - then holding them in keeps you safe. You learned that parts of you are not accepted by others. Then we start to unpick it, and self-acceptance becomes a journey. But it isnt always an easy one. Authenticity can be scary. It may mean showing parts of you that others havent seen or that you havent really gotten to know either. We might start to wonder who we really are, and whether its worth it. It can also be challenging when others dont welcome your authenticity. They see it as change, but I see it as becoming who you really are. Nonetheless it can be tough when youre not sure where you belong anymore. Becoming is the word that Carl Rogers (founder of the person-centred approach) used when he talked about authenticity. This is because he saw it as a process, rather than an end-game. The key to becoming more authentic is self-compassion. Because sometimes well find it a stretch and acknowledging our humanness helps. 💗 - @therapywithlee on Instagram

Could it be that what you REALLY need is not actually weight loss? 🧐 When my client Emily first reached out to me 3 months ago, her main concern was weight. She was finding it increasingly difficult to stick to the diets and was blaming her own lack of willpower. But soon after working together, she started to see just HOW much mental focus and physical time/energy was going into obsessing over controlling her body and food. She started to see just how draining that was and also how it was actually KEEPING her AWAY from focusing on things that truly mattered to her. As we dug deeper over time and started to shift away from controlling the body to taking care of the body, she noticed what she was REALLY seeking all this time was: 👉 To feel good in her own body and who she was 👉 To feel confident knowing that she was taking good care of herself 👉 To feel worthy of care and love from within herself and from others In our most recent session she said: Its so easy to get sucked into the default diet culture thoughts, but I realize thats not what I really needed. I DONT want to be skinny at all costs sacrificing my mental and physical health. I want to feel confident, happy, and healthy. 🥳 Can you relate? If you are tired of the lies of diet culture that DONT care for your wellness and happiness, and REALLY want to start taking care of yourself in a trusting and compassionate way, I can help you do just that in my 6-week small group program Body Respect. ✨Click the link in bio✨ to see if you would be a good fit! Children are powerless beings. They’re physically and emotionally incapable of meeting their own needs, and they fully rely on their caretakers for that. What children 𝘤𝘢𝘯 do is attempt to communicate their needs to caretakers. The ways in which caretakers respond to their child’s efforts greatly shape the way these children will express themselves in the future. Responsive caretakers validate the importance of their children’s needs, allowing these children to feel confident about having and expressing needs. However, children whose needs were either dismissed or neglected by their caretakers might learn to intensify their efforts to be acknowledged. And if that’s what it took to gain attention, these kids might reasonably develop a pattern of escalating circumstances to get what they wanted. In plain words, they’d learned that 𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗠𝗦 𝗚𝗘𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗝𝗢𝗕 𝗗𝗢𝗡𝗘. If never provided skills to appropriately communicate wants, those escalation tactics manifest into unhealthy self-expression in adulthood, causing chronic relationship problems such as explosive fighting, physical and emotional abuse, and patterns of unhealthy relationships. Working with a therapist can help to uncover the origins of unhealthy needs expressions. It’s absolutely possible to develop less destructive communication tools that will ultimately contribute to longer lasting, healthier relationships overall. - @lovealways.drbetsy on Instagram

Please read slowly 👉 This may bring a certain feeling of discomfort to your body and may even trigger the ego. But through our discomfort we can find grace. The question becomes how does a woman heal this? Or how does anyone heal this for that matter because we all have both masculine and feminine energies within us. There are many different ways to heal but the way that I healed deep pain was by using my feminine energy to get into my emotional body. Breathing, crying, reflecting and going into my shadows. I trained myself how to see in the darkness through the illumination of my inner light. Our feminine is the emotional, intuitive and feeling energy. Our masculine is the protective, leading and structured energy. By getting familiar with our pain through vulnerability, we can start to heal. Our feminine is our inner healer. Without this energy we would not feel anything that this human experience offers us. And this includes the full spectrum of every emotion. Not just the ones that you think feel good. 👉 The next email that I am sending out will include a full breakdown of how to actually heal overdeveloped masculine energy. Many of you are angry. Maybe you’ve been for a long time. Maybe this week just put you over the edge. And being angry can be exhausting. First of it hasn’t ever been safe to feel or express your anger your nervous system may be working hard to keep it that way. If not being angry or not showing anger is what kept you “safe” growing up, your primal Brain may freak out when it arises. Then our protector parts come out with their booby traps like disorientation and discombobulating us to throw us off the track of feeling angry. Secondly, anger and the fight or flight response are supposed to be temporary states. Not a way of being. But for victims of abuse, racism, and other harms getting stuck in anger as a way of survival can be a common experience too. How are you feeling about anger today? It’s the Aries full moon right as I’m posting this and you may be feeling a little extra hot today. But something beautiful about the heat and energy of anger is that it’s transformative. So let that anger flow through you (as long as you’re not harming anyone else obviously!), vent, scream, cry, write a strongly worded Facebook post, then ACT. Guys.. this needs to be said. As a mental health professional very involved in the social media community, I’ve seen thousands of the same posts DAILY. The ones about anxiety, taking it a day at a time, you know the drill. Guys.. look. Yes, these are nice sentiments. But before you post something, REALLY THINK about how helpful it will be to those reading it. People in this community follow a bunch of similar accounts and seeing the same thing over and over in slightly different words might be nice for a moment, but it doesn’t ACTUALLY produce change. Think of your objective. Is it just to have an online presence as a mental health professional (or whatever you are doing) or is it to influence and make people really think of things in a different way? And look, we don’t all have to be leaders and influencers and that’s fine. Not saying you need to be. But the over-saturation of the same types of posts actually could be detrimental. Why? Think about if you were actually struggling with a mental health disorder. Is reading a quote or watching a reel or tiktok telling you to do some deep breathing really going to help? Or might it make the person feel more alone and frustrated because they’ve already heard these things and they aren’t helpful? Be mindful in your posts and really think about who you are speaking to and what your objective is. Unless you just want to be one of those accounts people just scroll through and don’t actually read/learn anything from🤷🏻♀️. #sorrynotsorry - I don’t sugarcoat!!! Are your food choices guided by intuition ✨ ... or anxiety 😥 ?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A recent trend among my clients is a desire to learn to eat in a more relaxed, tuned-in way 💜. Theyre tired of avoiding entire food groups out of fear and want to learn how to listen to their bodies instead of someone elses rules. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🥳When I hear this, I get so freaking excited!!🥳⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The KEY 🗝 to improving your migraine symptoms while maintaining (or developing) a healthy relationship with food is developing this ability to eat intuitively. Despite the name, intuitive eating is not always intuitive!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It requires developing something called interoceptive awareness - a skill migraineurs tend to disconnect from 🙅🏼♀️ out of an instinctual desire to escape pain.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This interoceptive awareness and its link to chronic pain conditions like migraine 🧠 is something thats studied in recent years, and what the science shows so far is that the lower your interoceptive awareness, the more severe your symptoms tend to be. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So what is interoceptive awareness? 🤔 And how do you develop it? 5 QUICK WAYS TO GET OUT OF OVERTHINKING SPIRAL . 🔮DEEP BELLY BREATHING - When you feel like your brain is about to explode literally stop what you’re doing & take three deep belly breaths. Breath in through your nose so you fill up your stomach & sign it all out threw your mouth. This is the easiest way to get out of your sympathetic nervous system (fight-or-flight) and into your parasympathetic nervous system (rest-n-digest). . 🔮DO A MAJOR BRAIN DUMP - Take out a scrap piece of paper from your desk & just right down all of your thoughts & emotions. I don’t care how vulgar or nasty they get just get them out of your head! Once it is all of out mind, you are able to look at what objectively because it’s not dancing around in your brain! . 🔮FEEL THE SUN ON YOUR FACE - Whether you’re at the office or at home, take a moment to step outside (or go to a big ass window if you have to) and feel the sun on your face. Not only will you get some vitamin D, but the feel fo the sun on your skin helps to boost your mood & reduce stress. . 🔮INHALE SOME LAVENDER ESSENTIAL OIL - This used to be my go-to in college as lavender has been used for centuries for naturally reducing stress & getting a goodnight’s sleep (because I know with your monkey brain sleep doesn’t always happen for you!). Place some drops on your wrists or just screw the cap off and inhale the aroma for 2 big inhales! . 🔮BE GRATEFUL AF - When your mind is racing it is often over a mistake you made that you can’t get over or you’re building up a scenario in your head that actually hurts your feelings even though it will never happen (trust I know the feeling all to well). By taking a moment to be grateful for where you are helps to clear your mind & change that negative energy into positive energy. While you’re doing your brain dump you can also write down 3 things you’re grateful for too! . I know you’re a busy woman BUT each of these take 5-minutes or less, which there’s NO excuse on why you can’t try one of these tips! 😉 . But if you’re ready to take your life back and STOP letting the overthinking & exhaustion control your life so you can get your LIFE BACK - just shoot me a DM! 💌 - @sarabwellness on Instagram

Okay mamas, there are a few things we assume just “happen”.... come instinctively... breastfeeding, car seat safety, and motherhood bliss/instant bond. When many times, these 3 things are far from instinct... and that’s okay! But we can become informed and be prepared for each of these! + Car seat safety learn, gather information, prepare, practice — yes, BEFORE baby! Don’t you want to feel confident putting your entire world into their car seat safely?! I know you do, me too! It’s much more than “just strapping them in securely”. Michelle @safeintheseat is the EXPERT here. This is a big area I see parents struggle with when I am discharging them from the hospital, but it’s an area we can prepare for with Michelle’s guidance! + Breastfeeding not “natural”, baby doesn’t always come out just “knowing what to do” and that’s okay! They’re learning just as much as we are! This is an area we, as mamas stress over often, as feeding our baby is of utmost importance! Let’s gather information, be prepared, and feel confident with decision making when/if something comes up during our breastfeeding journey! 🙏🏼Ooooosh man I have a lot of thoughts on this one. Two of my favorite quotes immediately come to mind; “Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die” a la Le Buddha himself and “Your outer world is a reflection of your inner world” by a zillion philosophers. Pause and think on that for a moment 🤔. Now, as an exercise, describe to your outside world. How do you see life? Is it happening to you or for you? Do you see people as primarily good or not to be trusted, ready to let you down again and not safe to get close to? Because chances are, if you have conflict, struggle, hate, anger, depression, and fear dominating the inside of you, you will 💯 find that it will manifest and become part of your outside world as well and everything will seem hopeless, frustrating and unfair. These emotions often point to where healing needs to happen, and in my experience from both living AND treating, usually that healing needs to be a 360deg experience of body, mind & soul✨. Utilizing tools like talk therapy, Acupuncture, journalling, meditation, enrolling in seminars/online learning platforms to dig into issues around vulnerability, fear, self worth and other root causes of these dysfunctional behaviors are great steps in your healing journey. Need resources? Ask friends or mentors for recommendations of healers they trust. And most importantly try, try and try again because the healing work is never complete, we weren’t made for perfection. The happiest, brightest, most fulfilled people I know are the ones who have an undying commitment to growth. Invest in yourself, invest in your health and watch your life transform 🙏🏼✨🌙💕 - @theacuchick on Instagram

😬Are you worried that your preschooler isn’t able to write their alphabet quite yet? 🙏Please remember that child development isn’t a race and each child develops at their own beautiful pace. The actions listed in the above quote are essential in building the hand strength and dexterity needed for completion of formal handwriting tasks. Skipping a majority of these activities and pushing formal handwriting too early may lead to difficulty down the road! ✏️ Here is a sample list of some activities to promote the hand strength and dexterity needed before completing formal handwriting tasks: building a block tower, cutting playdough, crawling through a tunnel, squirting a hose, using tweezers to pick up small items, squirting water out of an eye dropper or spray bottle, ripping and crumpling up tissue paper, putting coins into a piggy bank, make a necklace out of beads or uncooked pasta noodles, putting clothespins on a paper plate, picking up small objects with tongs, painting with small pieces of sponge, hide beads in playdough and have your child pinch them to “rescue” the treasure, stamping, and peeling stickers. 💗 Please tag a preschool Mama, share, save, and like this post to see more content like this and for it to reach more Mamas! #otmomlife #finemotorskills #finemotoractivity #finemotoractivities #prewritingskills #prewritingactivity #preschoolplay #preschoolactivities #preschoolathome - @otmomlife on Instagram

Ever heard the phrase “Studying for medical school is like drinking from a fire hose” Yeah, I heard it too before starting. A few days ago I asked you guys to tell me some rumors you’ve heard about medical school. The most popular response by far was that all you do is study in medical school. Well today, I’m going to tell you the truth! The first two years of medical school, your main job really is to study. Typically we would have tests every 2-3 weeks covering anywhere from 80-100 lectures. The best way I could describe it is that it’s like taking a midterm or final every 2 weeks with the amount of material you need to get through. Because of the sheer amount of material, you need to dedicate a lot of hours to get through it all usually 2-4 times. In order to pace myself, I would usually study 6-8 hours a day and then more like 8-10 hours closer to the test. Yes it’s a lot! The way I would survive was by treating medical school like a job and spent the “work hours” of the day studying. Then by 6-7 pm, I would stop for the day, workout, talk to my boyfriend/friends, and relax. On the weekends, I would study most of the day as well but would try to go to a coffee shop with friends to make it less painful and try to take at least half a day off each weekend as well. Now that I’m in my third year and in the hospital most days, I usually spend 2-3 hours studying each day either during downtime during the day or after work if it’s a busy day. Most of my learning is happening while in the hospitals and then I use flashcards and questions to cement it! The truth is that you do spend a lot of time studying in medical school. But, if you made it to medical school that means you got through Chemistry, Physics, OChem, Biology, and the MCAT. You know what it’s like to dedicate most of your time to studying and you can handle it! I promise! And while I study a lot, I also have time to travel, rock climb, cook, hang with my boyfriend, watch Netflix, and do normal human things!!! It’s not realistic to spend 4 years doing nothing but studying. I hope this was helpful! Stay tuned for more posts on addressing the rumors you’ve heard!! - @heykellyellen on Instagram

If you had a toxic or abusive parents, you probably didnt learn to be empathetic towards yourself. When a kid is treated badly, they usually end up blaming and hating themselves, not the perpetrator. 😶 Normally we learn empathy from our parents, who are supposed to show it to themselves and to us. If we learn only to anticipate and please our parents in hopes of staying safe from them, or stay in their favour, we learn to put our needs on hold and eventually ignore them.🙁 This is why many of us have highly critical and/or negative inner voices. The good news is that we can unlearn all this, but it takes time and patience, and possibly therapy.🧘🏾♀️🧘🏼♂️ Next time you are being overly negative to yourself, remember this post. Try to shift that nasty inner voice to a more neutral one. When this starts getting easier, you can even try shifting to a positive voice! Its also okay if its too hard, you might need more time and support ( I definitely do).🌻 ~J~ [IMAGE DESCRIPTION: on green background in white it says: it is absolutely necessary to feel empathy towards yourself, especially if you had a traumatic past.] #selfempathy #selfcompassion #selfcare #mentalwellbeing #innerchildhealing #innerchildwork #innervoice #negativeselftalk #toxicparents #abuseisnotlove #abusiveparents #narcissisticabuse #narcissisticparent #childabuseawareness #childrensmentalhealth #childabusesurvivor #traumasymptoms #traumaticchildhood #dissociationdisorder #traumadisorders #complextrauma #complexptsd - @mental.sisters on Instagram

Put bluntly, PCS is crippling. You can’t explain what it feels like because your brain is completely off line, and to make matters worse conventional med keeps sending you home with no answers. PCS patients get stuck with the extremely terrifying feeling that their brain is turning against them. I’ve been there. It f*cking sucks. I spent 5 years getting the run around through the medical system. No answers. Misdiagnosis after misdiagnosis. 5 years of my life spent with a brain firing at a small fraction of its capacity. As it turns out, PCS can strike some time after a head injury leaving you with no idea as to what caused it. And as it also turns out, there’s a huge community of practitioners and researchers that are rapidly progressing concussion knowledge and recovery strategies. YOU DON’T HAVE TO SUFFER AS LONG AS I DID! PCS is fully treatable, and the brain can recover with the right tools. My mission is to spread this awareness as far and as wide as I possibly can to help connect people to the right path toward recovery. There are people out there living in the misery of PCS because no one knows how to help them - it shouldn’t be that way! So please help me! Double tap if you thought the anxiety was going to go away after baby exited your body 🙋♀️ Boy was I wrong about that one. While pregnant with my first baby I had no idea postpartum anxiety was a thing, let alone perinatal anxiety and/or depression. Symptoms of perinatal anxiety (either during pregnancy or in the postpartum period) include: ~ Constant worry ~ Feeling that something bad is going to happen ~ Racing thoughts ~ Disturbances of sleep and appetite ~ Inability to sit still ~ Physical symptoms like dizziness, hot flashes, and nausea Approximately 6% of pregnant women and 10% of postpartum women develop anxiety. Sometimes they experience anxiety alone, and sometimes they experience it in addition to depression. Another symptom of perinatal anxiety and depression can be irritability and rage. If you are new to this space, welcome! I can remember just how confusing and, honestly pretty shocking, it was to learn that conventional dieting wasn’t as ‘heathy’ as it’s proclaimed to be. In fact, it’s quite destructive to our mental and physical health, unsustainable, and rooted in several forms of oppression. Additionally, dieting is the most important predictor of new eating disorders in adolescents (Patton et al 1999). Similarly, the best known environmental contributor to the development of eating disorders is the sociocultural idealization of thinness (Culbert et al 2015). Where are some good places to start to learn more? I’ve got several resources linked in my bio, a resource section on my website, and highly recommend starting with the books Intuitive Eating and Anti-Diet (both linked on my website). Another place to start is journaling your own history/timeline with dieting and attempts to control your body’s size. Write down as much detail as possible including, what diet, how often, the outcome, the outcome after 2 years, how your life was altered, thoughts and feelings about your body, and how you felt when the diet was over. What you might find is that history repeats itself. You now have a bit of insight to consider something different for yourself! - @hgoodrichrd on Instagram

What are you communicating to your body?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As a society, we focus on weight and size and fat, when we really should focus on how we’re actually treating our body. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ➡️ Are you depriving it of fuel because you want it to look different?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ➡️ Are you running it into the ground with exercise just to burn a few more calories?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ➡️ Are you unwilling to listen when it asks you for more food?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ➡️ Are you against swapping sneakers for sweats after a particularly hard week?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ➡️ Are you pushing your body to be a certain weight when really it just may be comfortable and content 5-10 pounds heavier?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We’re trained to believe that these are all signs of commitment, diligence, health, and reasons to be praised. When in reality, these all may be signs we aren’t listening, trusting, and supporting.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If we’re ever going to change how we view/treat our body, we first have to address how our society and #dietculture teach us to demonize and deprive it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This week, I want you to think about what message you’re communicating to your body, support or deprivation? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🤔⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #bodyacceptance #fuckdietculture #endweightstigma #wsaw #wsaw20 #fatacceptance #bodypositive #effyourbeautystandards #foodforthought #sportsdietitian #health #thenewhealthy #nutritionist #virtualdietitian #njsportsdietitian #wellness #fueledfitbalanced #nondiet #antidiet #antidietdietitian #disorderedeatingrecovery #nofoodrules #intuitiveeating #eatingdisorderdietitian #fueled #fit #balanced #foodfreedom #nofoodrules - @bebalanced.rd on Instagram

DO YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN RHYTHM AND FAM? 🤷🏽♀️ 🗓The rhythm method is based on the calendar (it’s what you’re doing when using a phone app that “predicts” ovulation and your period). The problem with this method is that it’s not customized to you, maybe you’re not one of the small group of individuals that ovulate on the 14th day of each cycle. It may be a helpful method if your cycles are extremely regular and you ovulate at the same time every month. However, even healthy women have variations when they ovulate month to month. If you don’t have a precisely timed cycle each month you may not know when or IF you’re even ovulating. 🌡The FAM (fertility awareness method) is based on your personal data and encourages body literacy as you get to know your body, your cycle, and your signs and symptoms. This method uses three signs from your body to track your cycle: your cervical mucus, your cervical position and a rise in your basal body temperature reading. Using all of these symptoms allows you to accurately predict, track, and confirm ovulation which can help you maintain your fertility if using this method to avoid pregnancy or it can be used to accurately predict ovulation if you’re TTC #healthycycle #womenshealth #womensupportingwomen #ovulation #anovulatorycycle #PCOS #periodhealth #hormones #fertility #infertilityawareness #bodyliteracy #BBT #menstrualcycle #ovulation #OPK #TTC #cycletracking #PCOSawareness #irregularcycles #PMS #FAM - @wellwomennutrition on Instagram

Behavior is how your child communicates what’s happening on the ✨inside✨ •Fears of being without you •The need to feel connection •The desire to be capable and independent ❗️The list goes on❗️ . Taking time to look below the surface and get to the ‘why’ will help you understand your child on a deeper level. This will humanize your child’s experience and create more empathy, connection, and trust in your relationship. . What does this all lead to? When your little one is encouraged to feel their feelings safely, their behavior actually becomes better regulated because they feel supported. . HELLO ELEPHANT 🐘 IN THE ROOM. I hate to say it, but it’s true. OF COURSE, lifestyle is super important when it comes to getting your health back on track, but without addressing diet, you’re simply missing the point. It’s OK to not be ready. There’s a reason why medications, surgery, and overnight “fixes” are sold much more easily than lifestyle and diet changes are. Changing your diet is flipping hard. It’s going to involve all the crappy emotions we DON’T want to feel—frustration, anger, resentment, sometime loneliness, and confusion. But we have to GO THROUGH the motions of change to achieve growth. Without change, there is no growth. Without growth there is no improvement. Getting stuck inside a comfort zone of discomfort is easy, but it’s the worst possible place to be if you want to be the best version of yourself. Mindset first, diet second. What’s on your plate? And how does that change the picture of your health? What we’ve been brought up to believe regarding food and nutrition is incredibly different than what we now know contributes to longevity and optimal health. Join me next week for the Plant Powered Gut Workshop to uncover the HOW of how to change your diet for optimal gut health. It’s never too late to take a positive step forward. Link in 👆🏻 bio to get in on the action. We kick off Monday at 12 pm PST. #theplantpoweredgut - @plantsfirstnutrition on Instagram

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. ⠀ A couple days ago, I posted a post about how to recognize some easy-to-miss warning signs of suicide so that when people recognize them in their loved ones or community members, they can reach out and intervene. 🗣 ⠀ However, checking in on our loved ones and sharing crisis line numbers is not all that we can do. Suicide, like many mental health issues, can be prevented by reducing some of the systemic and societal barriers to emotional wellness. Systemic and societal changes such as being able to access healthcare, the reduction of stigma in society, and anti-oppressive stances from institutions to individuals, often have a trickle-down effect and can help prevent suicide by helping individuals regain a sense of hope. ⠀ There’s certainly more ways to prevent suicide that I haven’t mentioned. Today, I challenge you to pledge to start working towards one thing - whether big or small - that might help prevent suicide. This may be anywhere from changing your language (i.e. not using phrases like “I’d rather kill myself” as a joke) to advocating for alternatives to our criminal justice system/incarceration. ⠀ Today is World Suicide Prevention Day, and this month is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, but suicide prevention is a goal that we, as a society, need to be working towards beyond the month of September. ⠀ What are some other ways we can prevent suicide, on either the individual, interpersonal, community, or systemic level? ⠀ (Please check out my fellow members of @thealliedminds.co, @acutepsychotic and @akostherapy who both have wonderful posts on ways to prevent suicide - from the individual level to the systemic level. They both have inspired me to think more from a systemic lens about suicide prevention and were the inspirations for this post. ✨) - @themindhealthspot on Instagram

A BIG question I know 💥 . I’m gonna just say it.......So many of us are living lives of expectation and obligation to make other people happy. Ouchies . And in the process of the people pleasing, the keeping the peace, the perfectionism, we reject ourselves . It’s not our fault. We were taught this. But it is our responsibility to reclaim ourselves if we want to live into our full life 💚 . The way back to ourselves. Back to the life that’s calling to us. Back to what brings us the deepest fulfilment & peace. Is to create the space in our lives to meet ourselves again . CW: Indigenous trauma, foster care system As you enter into classrooms and conversations about #OrangeShirtDay, please be mindful of the fact that these horrors didn’t stop when residential schools closed. Indigenous children continue to be separated from their families at alarming rates and are vastly over-represented in the foster care system. An estimated 150,000 Indigenous children were forced to attend residential schools, and yet the foster care system has surpassed that number with ease. Manitoba has one of the highest rates of children in care and they are primarily Indigenous. In 2018, an NDP MLA introduced a bill to address child apprehension laws and ensure that children can’t be removed from their families solely because of poverty. Instead, resources would go towards helping families. This is only a small step in the right direction to begin addressing systemic problems. As you partake in both acknowledgements of trauma and celebrations of strength today, please be gentle with your Indigenous students and the internal processing they may be doing. ▪️The Indigenous child who’s family has been fractured by cyclical dysfunction that originated in the residential school system. ▪️The Indigenous child who has been removed from their family, community, or culture and is engulfed in their own anguish. ▪️The Indigenous child who is related to a survivor and is processing the inter-generational grief. ▪️The Indigenous child who has experienced loss and feels a sense of upheaval in the day’s events. ▪️The Indigenous child who is questioning their self worth after learning, for the first time, that the government used to take children who looked like them. ▪️The Indigenous child who may be disenfranchised from their culture and stories. ▪️The Indigenous child who feels pressured to be an expert because of their identity. Hold space for Indigenous children, past and present. As @indigenouscheerleader always says - they are sacred. Edit: To be clear... On Slide 2, the numbers represent the 0-17 population in Alberta. On Slide 3, the numbers reflect the 0-14 population in Canada. - @tiplerteaches on Instagram

This took a lot longer to write than expected, because I realized it’s impossible to divorce the 2 main concepts from the bigger cycle of capitalism — how it has made food into a commodity & restaurants a means of private wealth accumulation. This is NOT about blaming small business owners for trying to survive within an oppressive system. Instead, it’s to surface the need to de-commodify a basic necessity (food) because “the ‘highest and best use’ of any commodity is where it can get the best price, regardless of the social, ecological, or humanitarian consequences.” (Food As A Commodity by Fred Magdoff) WE need to make this change because capitalism has proven social issues cant be solved w/ a free market. Take hunger: “One of the great illusions...was [that] market-led food security would achieve a nourished population, as long as the world’s average wealth increases.” Instead, the worlds billionaires have more wealth than 4.6B people & hunger is still a major issue. (Food As A Commons by Jose Luis Vivero Pol) To combat this, Pol suggests a tri-centric governance structure where: 1. Food as common good: “Civic collective actions” at a local level w/ the goal of regenerating food for the community 2. Food as public good: Gov. action to enable the framework of these community orgs (which should include restaurants!) 3. Food as private good: Private biz acquire surpluses from owners (who benefit from common goods) by providing discretionary goods they want to buy/eat I hope this would translate to: 1. People from all backgrounds have the means to succeed & thrive in our industry (as employee or owner) 2. Community / gov. incentives for starting foodservice biz with a mentality of food as public good 3. Competitive standards in public / semi-public foodservice so private biz must offer high levels of worker benefits 4. A shift in consumer views that allow for prices that accurately reflect the value added inputs, from growing to service Im in the same boat as everyone with more qs than answers, but I believe that if we start advocating for change & experimenting now, our future can look a lot different from what it is today. - @chefjennydorsey on Instagram

The fact that you struggle to enjoy motherhood doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with or inadequate about you. It more likely means one or more of the following: ✨You have unmet needs that are keeping you from feeling whole and vibrant. ✨You are exhausted and don’t have the space, time, or self-permission to rest. ✨You have unresolved trauma stored in your body. ✨Parts of you are atrophying while other parts of you are overworked. ✨You don’t feel seen for the (limitless, unpaid) work you do and/or energetic investments you make. ✨You crave deeper connection and more inspiring conversation than most people around you seem to be able to offer. ✨Your nervous system isn’t getting enough breaks from chaos and/or hyperarousal. ✨You’re introverted and don’t get enough time alone. ✨You struggle to feel worthy of investing in yourself while your kids’ needs are given center stage. ✨As much as he cares, your partner doesn’t quite get it, which has you struggling not to resent him. ✨You don’t feel as if you’re doing enough to make any real difference. ✨You long for support but don’t know where to find it and don’t always feel worthy of what you desire. In MotherWorthy, we explore all of the above (and sooo much more). Instead of bouncing back, baby gear, and meal planning, we talk about untangling ourselves from patriarchy, gathering soul fire fuel, self-mothering, and exploring the barriers keeping us from the connection we crave. In MotherWorthy, we explore questions that are big enough to hold and support expanded versions of us. Registration ends this week. Please join us if you’re hearing the call (however faintly) from somewhere wild and wise within you. (Yes, there are scholarships available.) (Yes, it’s normal to feel a little terrified.) LACK OF TIME IS NOT WHY YOU AREN’T HAVING SEX AS MUCH; IT IS YOUR STRESS LEVELS…. We all know even when time is working against us, we make time for what is important to us 👏🏻 What feels impossible is snapping our fingers to decrease the level of stress we are under. Shit life is hard, it is demanding, and it does not stop when we are having a hard day. Sis, you are not the only one with a low sex drive. You are not the only one always battling with life’s stressors. Trust me 🙌🏼 Fact: Our sex drive is our luxury hormone. Life is busy. When we have too much on our to do list, our body knows it needs to keep us afloat, so it pulls energy from our sex drive to fuel our necessary hormones. Decrease the stress and you naturally increase your sex drive. Hard part here is that is easier said than done, am I right? MY TOP THREE WAYS TO HELP YOU GIVE YOUR SEX DRIVE A REBOOT: 💪🏼STOP over working out. Yep!!! 5 days a week, every week is hurting your sex drive. Work out when your body can process the extra tension. Yes, there are specific times within your cycle to workout and others to give yourself permission to rest. I can promise you the rest helps more with weight loss and muscle definition than when you push to over work out just cause you ate that donut 🍩 yesterday. If you never let your body heal and restore you won’t see any increase in your sex drive. #sorrynotsorry 💪🏼STOP dieting. Your female body needs the calories, the fats, and the healthy carbs. There is never going to be a perfect diet out there for you #sorrynotsorry You need to create your own nutrition plan around where you are in your menstrual cycle. STOP dieting, START nutrition planning. 💪🏼STOP thinking routines are just for children, us adults thrive off them too. That morning routine may not seem relevant to your sex drive but it ALL plays a role. Morning routine = decreasing your stress. Decreased stress = increased sex drive #winwin Your body wants to bless 🙏🏽 you with orgasms day after day👏🏻👏🏻, all she asks in return is you are mindful of how you manage your stress levels ALL DAY, EVERYDAY 🍾 Tag a fierce 🔥 boss babe that needs to hear this today! - @mamaswellnesshaven on Instagram

What do you think? True or false? . Looking back on your own mother or caregiver’s relationship with food and weight growing up, do you think it impacted you in a negative or positive way? . For me, there is no doubt that my mother’s and grandmother’s thoughts and beliefs about food and weight impacted me negatively. . I cannot even remember a single moment they were not dieting and actively trying to lose weight. . At a young age I learned that women needed to be skinny to be worthy and desirable and I saw my mom and grandma constantly trying to achieve that. . My grandma had always been in a bigger body and I know she faced so much unfair societal scorn from this. I know she was so embarrassed and looking back I feel just awful for her. . She has since passed from ALS and while she was declining from this horrible disease, she was unable to swallow or speak any more. . She would use a pen and paper to communicate and she would write out to me how happy she was about her weight loss. . She was on a feeding tube and was completely malnourished by the time she had it placed bc she was thrilled with the weight from being unable to eat orally. . Even in her last days, weight loss was glorified and her shame about her bigger body was apparent. . She was an absolutely amazing woman that shaped me in so many positive ways and I know looking back, she was very affected by the culture around her when it came to weight and food. . It took me awhile to break away from the food and weight messages I got growing up, and I hope to be able to break that chain with my own daughters. . I want them to feel comfortable in their bodies though the world around them has very specific rules on what is “ideal” and what is not. . I want them to see me eating all different kinds of foods and know that’s 100% normal and ok! . What about you? What thoughts do you have about this topic? . Were talking hugs today - and why our emotional health isnt the only one feeling the negative effects of isolation, but our gut health too! 😭 According to gut health expert and naturopath, Fin MacKenzie our increased time spent at home and our physical distance from others has reduced the diversity in our gut flora (the diversity that normally comes with exposure to other people and places - and through hugging our loved ones). And with the feel-good hormones that flood our bodies after we hug others now also missing, its having a negative impact on both our immune system and our gut health. So what can we do to support our gut, and by extension, our overall health? Load up on lots of colourful fruits and veggies, chow down on fermented foods and make sure youre eating a good dose of prebiotic fibres every day. //MY BODY IS NOT ATTRACTIVE TO EVERYONE// And its not your lifes purpose to make it so. You might be thinking, duh. But think on it for a minute. Everytime we hide from our reflection in the mirror, or gaze upon the body of someone else longingly, what are we really saying to ourselves? Are we not at some level worried about being pleasing to others and/or living up to the conventional standards of beauty? This is NOT to shame anyone for caring what people think, gaahhh were all human, and even the most evolved appreciate praise and validation. The danger is when we tie up so much (if not all) of our *worth* in how we look and how attractive we are to others. We may be left with a life consumed by trying to fit the beauty ideal, instead of actually living. We may have unwittingly made it our lifes purpose. Trust me, I know that process all too well. What would it feel like to let out a deep sigh, hand to heart, and say my body is not attractive to everyone, and thats OK ? Give it a try. Let me know how that feels.❤️ - @sromancoaching on Instagram

This is one of my #1 pet peeves maybe EVER. You’re not helping. Just stop. Diets and exercise programs make you feel like unless you follow them absolutely perfectly and do exactly as they say, you’ve failed. And not only have you failed - it’s your fault because you’re not…. ⠀ ⠀ Disciplined enough⠀ Structured enough⠀ Strong enough⠀ Meal planning enough⠀ Not in control of your cravings enough⠀ ⠀ This all- in, all-out diet mentality holds you back and keeps you in this exact spiral that you’ve been living in for as long as you can remember. ⠀ ⠀ REAL TALK: you *can* cultivate a relationship with food + your body that feels good and natural for you, instead of feeling like you’re fighting against it.⠀ ⠀ But it’s going to take a new approach to get there. The Whole-Hearted Eating™ Academy courses take a root cause approach and their main focus is action-oriented, so you can start DOING something about this right now. ⠀ ⠀ Learn more here: www.wholeheartedeating.com {link in profile}⠀ ⠀ *⠀ *⠀ *⠀ *⠀ *⠀ #nondiet #nondietapproach #nondietdietitian #antidiet #antidietculture #bopowarrior #haes #healthateverysize #healthatanysize #realfoodwithdana #recoverywarrior #recoverywarriors #weightinclusive #fatpositive #fatpositivity #selfloveisthebestlove #bodyrespect #edrecoveryarmy #bingeeatingrecovery #stressmanagement #mindfulnutrition #wholeheartedeating - @danamonsees_cns on Instagram

A friendly reminder for #weightstigmaawarenessweek I have been reading people’s experiences his week in honour of #weightstigmaawarenessweek and it took me back to my own personal experiences with weight stigma. The most stand out experience, which, to this day I can still remember like it was yesterday was a comment made from a boy when I was 16, laughing at me and telling me I had huge rugby player arms like a man. I remember being MORTIFIED! I was already self-conscious about my muscly arms and just had this confirmed in such a belittling way. That was the comment that led me to my first extreme diet. Slim fast shakes. 3 years later I developed an Eating Disorder. I am not saying this was the cause, but it definitely did not help me feeling confident enough in myself to not want to diet. If you have experienced something similar, my heart goes out to you.❤️❤️❤️ Weight stigma needs to be talked about and heard so more people can be educated. If I was just 145 lb. I would be such a better player... Mmmm yes and no 😬 It’s easy to set a weight goal (maybe the weight you used to be in High school..? 👀) but most of the time these goals are a little unrealistic and not necessary going to give you the performance outcome you desire. Starting today, I’m challenging you to get away from this mindset. Yes, feeling powerful and quick is important but meeting a certain weight goal won’t magically make you these things. What will help you achieve your goals, is fueling your body properly in an individualized way for YOU. 💥 Eating breakfast will give you more energy to help you move quickly on the field. 💥 Proper post workout recovery and protein throughout the day promotes lean muscle mass growth allowing you to be more powerful on the field. 💥 Incorporating a variety of fruit and veggies will ensure you are getting all of your vitamins and minerals to make sure your body is functioning properly These are some basic suggestions but it really goes back to finding an individualized fueling plan that works for you. If you want to take fueling (and your play) to the next level, send me a DM or apply to work 1:1 with me using the link in my bio 👊🏼 - @reilly.beatty.rd on Instagram

✨Parents, you are the vessel of peace and love, and the safety harbor that they seek for refuge. It’s a tall order, especially when life demands so much of us, but we must remind ourselves that we are far better equipped to handle life than they are. Be the first to forgive, the first to turn to embrace them after a challenging moment, and the first to set your ego aside and offer your love. 💗💙 - @themindfulcorner on Instagram

Don’t sacrifice your mental health We spend so much time focusing on our physical health that we often neglect our mental health One is not more important than the other Take the time to send love to yourself for all that you’re doing and all you’ve already accomplished. Take a break from always focusing on more more more #mentalhealthisimportant #suicidepreventionmonth #suicideawarenessmonth #suicidepreventionawareness #healthymindhealthybody #healthymindbodysoul - @girlsgonehealthypodcast on Instagram

This is why it’s so important to treat the body. Someone who wants to change their thoughts or behaviors has to first focus on the body. Once you’re able to find safety and regulate you will be more capable of changing your thinking and how you behave. When we feel safe and relaxed, we are self-aware and have better self-control. We pause in the moment and think before we act. During this moment, we can reflect, consider other perspectives, empathize with others, plan, reason, make good decisions and problem-solve. Our physiological state will set the tone for our thoughts and behaviors. What helps: * Mental breaks( e.g., read a fun book, music, coloring, creativity, hobbies, play, movies) * Physical break (e.g., move, dance, sports, walk, stretch) * Spiritual break (e.g., yoga, prayer, meditation, mantra) * Sensory experience (e.g., focus on sound, taste, touch, movement) * Grounding activity (e.g., deep breathing) * Social support (e.g., ask for help, connect with a friend/ parent) How do you help your your body? #bodyawareness #mindbody #somatictherapy #somaticexperiencing #ptsd #cptsd #emotions #thoughts #negativethoughts #anxiety #depression #polyvagaltheory #counselorsofinstagram #traumarecovery #traumahealing #traumainformed #traumasurvivor #warveteran #emotions #family #friends #copingskills #stressmanagement #stress #arizona #yumaaz #seekhelp #latibulecounseling - @latibulecounseling on Instagram

With #OrangeShirtDay fast approaching, I wanted to compile a post with resources for teaching about residential schools. If you are not familiar with Orange Shirt Day, it is an annual event that takes place on September 30 each year to commemorate the survivors of residential schools as well as those who did not make it home. This is not a definitive list and there are certainly a plethora of resources to choose from, but these are ones that I’m familiar with and believe you might find useful. I tried to choose texts that explicitly deal with residential schools, but please bear in mind that there are a multitude of contemporary Indigenous authors whose work touches on the lasting impacts of residential schools and intergenerational trauma. Edit: On Slide 4, the title of Gord Downie’s book should read “Secret Path” not “Secret Falls” In my stories I will also be linking to two free events. One is taking place on September 16 and it is hosted by @medicinewheeleducation in partnership with Phyllis Webstad and the Orange Shirt Society. The other virtual event taking place on September 30, hosted by the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation, is open to any school to honour residential school survivors. #OrangeShirtDay #EveryChildMatters #ResidentialSchools #Indigenous #IndigenousExcellence #IndigenousHistory #IndigenousTeacher #IndigenousEducators #NativeAmerican #RepresentationMatters #WeNeedDiverseBooks #DisruptTexts #DecolonizeYourCurriculum #OwnVoices #CanadianTeacher #CanadianTeachers #AlbertaTeacher #AlbertaTeachers #YEGteacher #YEGteachers #TeachersOfIG #TeachersOfInstagram #TeachersOfTheGram - @tiplerteaches on Instagram

Did you know that you hold your tension in your vagina? That’s right, I said it. We often talk about our shoulders being tense when we are stressed, but here’s another body clue you are wound up, your vagina is clenched. I remember going for pelvic floor physio during pregnancy and she was like you are holding all of your stress in your vagina and I was like 🤯🤯🤯. Now imagine being stressed about having a baby, adjusting to motherhood and then trying to be intimate with your partner. It can be very stressful and difficult. You are not alone in your struggle with intimacy postpartum. It is a massive adjustment that all couples go through and can be really challenging. Is your stress running the show? ⬇️⬇️ Trust me, I get it. Stress used to rule my show too! And sometimes it has a sneaky way of creeping back in. The most important thing we can start doing is listen. Recognize our body, our stress, and when/how it arises. This is recognizing our intuition, starting to feel connected to our body, and our soul in new ways. That’s the important part - recognizing where you are. Because guess what - once we do that, we can change our relationship with stress. Which # above relates most to how you feel around stress? Drop it below in the comments and I can support you in working through that! - @wellnesswithkacey on Instagram

When I first started my gut healing journey, I went to a naturopath who told me I had to cut out between 15-20 foods. He gave me supplements, like powdered probiotics, fish oil + digestive enzymes (in tablet form which don’t work very well). He didn’t tell me how long I had to remove these foods from my diet, so I removed them for several years assuming that’s what I needed to do to fix my gut. All this did was lead to severe food anxiety + worse gut symptoms for me. I was scared to eat out or at other people’s houses. I started to view the foods I was sensitive to as ‘bad’. Half of the time I didn’t know if I was reacting to the foods I was sensitive to or if the reaction was b/c I was afraid + anticipating a reaction. This is a real thing! When we experience bloating, gas, heartburn, diarrhea, constipation, or cramping after eating, eating starts to become a chore, it becomes stressful! We wonder what in the heck is going on? And what in the heck can I eat? Once we find a culprit either through eating intuitively or getting a food sensitivity test done, it’s easy to believe that we found the root cause. “If I omit this food I’ll feel better”. But here’s the thing. Omitting the food is only one piece to the puzzle! If we are reacting poorly to specific foods, it can mean a number of different things. Reacting to food is a symptom of a bigger issue. If you have food sensitivities these may be arising due to: -Dysbiosis (Candida, SIBO, etc) -Parasites (@nourishwithjass is an expert on this) -Leaky gut -Low stomach acid All of these have a common denominator: damage to the gut lining, damage to mucosal cells + poor digestion. We have to do more than just remove the food, we have to address the root cause. A good place to start is by: - Switching to a whole foods high fiber diet. - Repair the damage so that digestion + absorption of nutrients can take place. This goes far beyond taking a probiotic! Probiotics only work if we give them the environment that they need to thrive. Changing your diet is what is going to make long lasting changes to your gut health ✨ - @theholisticseedling on Instagram

Its Bisexuality+ Day and what better way to celebrate and raise awareness (and a queer poetry hero) than these poems from June Jordan (1936-2002). ⠀ ⠀ The Jamaican-American essayist, poet and playwright is one of the most lauded writers of her generation, tackling all the important subjects head on: racial inequality, sexual freedom and womens rights, matching the big picture with her own personal life. ⠀ ⠀ Her poems read like they were written today, whether its Poem about Police Violence or the call for freedom to define your own gender identity in Poem about My Rights. She was an early proponent of intersectionality too. Her activism stretched across Black rights, LGBTQ+ and to the international struggle for justice. ⠀ ⠀ Its tempting to say these two snippets of poems represent two sides of Jordans writing, but in truth her power lies in the ability to combine the public and the personal so effectively. ⠀ ⠀ Jordan was forthright in her bisexuality, saying:⠀ ⠀ Bisexuality means I am free. If you are free, you are not predictable and you are not controllable. To my mind, that is the keenly positive, politicising significance of bisexual affirmation.⠀ ⠀ Happy Bisexuality+ Day!⠀ Photo by Lynda Koolish ⠀ - @14poems on Instagram

Depression is an emotional warning signal that something inside needs to be acknowledged and addressed. It is not your identity, and it is not something to be ashamed of. Life is hard, and bad things happen. But you can get through this! Don’t suppress your feelings. Rather talk then out with a therapist or trusted friend, write them down, and start asking why questions. Put your thoughts on trial to find the root cause. It could be a suppressed trauma or sneaky toxic thinking habit. 👶Depending on their age, size and activity levels toddler need about 1000-1,400 calories PER DAY. That`s it you`ve read those numbers right. TODDLERS, very small huuumans need more than 1000 calories a day to function and grow. Now ask yourself, if toddlers need to eat this much, how much do we need as adults? As adults with busy jobs and exercise goals. I can assure you that whatever your goal is whether that be fat loss or maintenance you do not need to be eating this little. Food is fuel and eating in too low a deficit can have serious repercussions including losing muscle mass which is ultimately what most people need to achieve the lean look they desire. 💪🏻If you want to feel energised, look your best and smash your exercise goals you need to fuel. ✅✅Consistency is key not low calories. Choose nutritious foods most of the time (80/20 rule) Move your body in a way that you enjoy LISTEN to your body when it tells you it is hungry!!! Those signals are there for a reason, it is your body telling you FUEL IT UP!!! ⁉️Wanna know what can happen when you eat like a baby??? 1️⃣Risk of falling into the binge eat restrict cycle 2️⃣Eating too little doesn`t directly cause your metabolism to slow but it does result in muscle loss which needs more fuel to be maintained. RESULT : less muscle, less calories needed for your existence... 3️⃣Nutrient deficiencies from not getting adequate amounts of food 4️⃣Negatively impact fertility and can result in amenorrhoea for some females 5️⃣Consuming too few calories can weaken your bones. That’s because calorie restriction can reduce estrogen and testosterone levels. Low levels of these two reproductive hormones are thought to reduce bone formation and increase bone breakdown, resulting in weaker bones 6️⃣Increases risk of infections and illness ▶️⏭These are just to name a few! Still want to eat like a baby?? Don`t kid yourself do the math and calculate what you really need and if you really want to lose weight subtract 10% from this number. Trust me you will feel better and reduce the risk of binging. - @nutrition_byshaina on Instagram

When I read all the testimonials in honor of #weightstigmaawarenessweek week, I couldn’t help but think about similar experiences I have had. 🤔 . . One in particular happened in elementary school. I was in the third grade and waiting for my turn to be weighed in the gym. I too remember what I was wearing and feel like I can still smell my elementary gym if I think hard enough. 🤭 . As soon as I got on the scale, and saw the metal rod go higher and higher, I felt instantly panicked. I vividly remember my gym teacher, Mr Grecco, saying, “You are really going to need to work on this weight.” I was humiliated and devastated. I remember the boys behind me laughing.😔 . I have worked hard to move past body shame. My goal now is to work so others don’t endure weight stigma and to put an end to weight discrimination. 🙌🏻 . . At this year’s @recoverwithmeda’s breakfast we will be talking about weight stigma and how weight discrimination affects the lives of so many people. (it’s also a risk factor for eating disorders for people of all sizes)We are thrilled to have Christyna Johnson from @encouragingdietitian and @kararichardsonwhitely. Christyna will be talking about HAES, food insecurity and marginalized communities.🌟 . . Kara will be sharing her incredible story about size discrimination and her new book Gorge (it’s being made into a movie)🙌🏻. . . Shaming people about their body size is not just harmful, it is deadly. Shaming people about their bodies is unacceptable.👎🏻 . . If you have a story like mine, I’m sorry. ❤️ . Let’s continue this conversation so we can educate others about body diversity and acceptance. 👍🏻 . If you have a similar story, I’d love to hear it.👂🏻 . . Raise your hand if you’ve had any of these uncomfortable conversations with your teen 🙋🏽♀️? Awesome! Good for you! We know that these conversations can be awkward, weird, icky, we get it, we get it. But they are also necessary in today’s climate. A couple of thoughts on how to tackle these: 1- Try a “parallel” conversation, like riding in the car or going for a walk, so that you don’t have to be face-to-face. 2- Pick times when you and your teen can actually focus. 3- Ask open-ended questions and create an open dialogue, rather than “talking at” them. 4- Share your own personal story to get the conversation rolling (bonus points if it contains any humor 😂) 5- Admit that you don’t have all the answers! You are human, and your teen should see that too. Plus, it creates a feeling of empathy and accountability between the two of you. What has worked for you in having these tricky chats with your teens? This week we are diving into the process of consent and can’t wait to hear how you handle that with your teens! #beaproblemsolver #parentingteens #parentingtweens #consentmatters #consentculture #raisingteens #teenmentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #socialskills #fuquayvarinanc #hollyspringsnc - @beaproblemsolver on Instagram

Follow me 👉🏼 @teenhealthdoc for more. ❗️Do you have a teen in your life you are worried about? 👩🏻⚕️Teamed up with the lovely Laura Lu @themindhealthspot, to help parents & teens have an important conversation. 😳Just this week I heard of a teen death by suicide at a high school in my home town in Kansas City. 👩🏻💻September is the month we raise awareness for #suicideprevention because October is a month we see higher rates of attempts. This year with back-to-school in a pandemic, we Pediatricians (and our school health colleagues), are bracing ourselves. ✔️Its a common myth that asking about suicide inspires thoughts about suicide. In teens, we know that those who do have thoughts of suicide & are asked feel relief & support. WHEN DO I BREASTFEED ONCE I HAVE STARTED SOLIDS? One of the most common questions I get. The answer is not that complicated though. . . Two things: 🥑Offer food on schedule 🤱Breastfeed on demand . . That’s it. Not at solids yet? Save this post for later to remind you! . . Doing it this way teaches your baby how meal structure works in life, while still meeting their needs until they are developmentally ready for that structure 100%. . . You may even find your breastfeeding rhythm doesn’t really change much, but there’s just a new activity on the schedule: food! . . But solids are more than just a “fun activity”, contributing to key nutrients, allergen exposure and developmental skill building. However it is always up to your baby with how much they will eat. So you take the pressure off by continuing to breastfeed on demand to help to fill in the gaps from the variable intake while they learn a new skill - feeding themselves! . . I go over this in more detail in my presentation at the Baby’s First Year Conference - registration is FREE. Check it out at the link in my bio @breastfeeding.dietitian . . A client sent me this message today: Thank you so much for being there for my celebrations and biz wins! Theres only a few people that I can share my wins with that arent going to have weird vibes around it. I feel sad for her. And I understand. Early this year, I was really struggling to be excited for one of my friends in her business success. Every time I saw a client sign up with her, Id feel a twinge of jealousy. I had to mute her stories. I couldnt bear to watch her win. I created a story that I wasnt good, because she was crushing it. That jealousy and comparison made it impossible for me to really appreciate her, her gifts, and what she was giving to the world. Which also made it impossible for me to really appreciate MY OWN gifts and what I was giving to the world. There is room in this online space for everyone. Especially you. Heres the deal... We live in a world where we are taught to compete with one another. We learn that resources are scarce, and when other people win, it means we lose. We compete for clients, for men, for money, for likes, for followers. For what? Separation. Scarcity. Fear. This pattern is a survival mechanism. It is brilliant in its ability to motivate us to stay alive. It has served you every moment until now. Time to thank it, give it a gold watch for its years of service, and let it retire in peace. And in its place, allow for celebration, joy, connection, and abundance. When one of us wins, we all win. If you want more success, celebrate it everywhere you see it. Especially in those you view as your competition. Tag and celebrate one of your badass coach friends in the comments below! - @hannahdeindorfer on Instagram

This is the balancing act I work on perfecting everyday. I own a business and want to be profitable but I also want to be a supporting leader to my team. Sometimes these two go together and sometimes they seem to work against each other. I feel like if I only put value on our bottom line it causes me to sacrifice providing items that contribute to our culture. But obviously owning a business is about being successful and proving profit creates a valuable business. The flip side is providing tools, education and experiences that support their growth and development. Giving them things that make me feel good and make them feel good. It doesn’t matter where I am on my journey there are still lessons to master. It’s one reason I love being a salon owner and challenging myself to grow. How do you manage profit vs emotional leadership in your business? Giving to your team but staying fiscally responsible? I’d love to read it in the comments. 🤗🤍 #salonowner #summitsalon #salonleadership - @fancyfinish on Instagram

A hysteroscopy is an examination of the inside of the uterus (womb) using a fine telescope inserted via the vagina and opening of the uterus (cervix). Using water, the telescope passes through the birth canal and into the womb. The inside of the womb can then be seen and assessed in terms of its shape, the lining (endometrium) & for focal lesions (polyps, fibroids, septa, adhesions). A small biopsy (removal of cells from the endometrium – lining of the womb) is often done at the end of the procedure to allow further analysis under a microscope. The examination is usually recommended for women who are experiencing certain gynaecological symptoms such as: • Irregular or heavy periods • Bleeding between periods or post-menopausal bleeding • Fibroids • Unusual vaginal discharge • Repeated miscarriages • Problems with fertility • To insert or remove coils 🏥It can be performed as an outpatient or as a day case procedure under general anaesthetic. It is a very safe procedure with low risk of complications. The most common side effects are discomfort (similar to period pain), feeling faint (outpatient only) & bleeding. However if you develop a temperature, increased pain, increased discharge which is smelly & unpleasant or heavy bleeding, you should seek medical advice. How quickly can I return to normal routine? Following an outpatient hysteroscopy, you could return to work the same day although it wouldn’t be unreasonable to take the day off. If performed under general anaesthesia you should take the day of the procedure and following day off work (you will also need someone to drive you home due to the anaesthesia). Sport and/or sexual intercourse can resume the day after the procedure. Are there any alternatives to hysteroscopy? Occasionally an MRI may tell us about what is going on inside the lining of the womb, however a hysteroscopy and biopsy is the ‘Gold Standard’ to have the best understanding and make a diagnosis. However, by making small steps to make sure that you are loving yourself and can do small things that make you feel happy...little by little you will realize that your health is everything to guide you through the day! Do you repeatedly injure yourself in the same place? Are you training your stability and not seeing any improvement?⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Then it might be time to rethink surface science and incorporate barefoot training into your program.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Heres why:⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Small Nerves - Found in the bottom of the foot, they are extremely sensitive to stimuli –such as texture and vibrations⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ In turn, our body senses impact forces as vibrations which allow us to maintain balance, detect if a surface is slippery, and walk/ run/ jump, etc⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Here is the kicker, the small nerves send feedback to the brain FAST️⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ With small nerves training, you’ll be able to ‘pre-activate’ your nervous system, basically, you can anticipate the impact forces coming in and activate your foot stabilizers even before you strike the ground. Pretty incredible right?⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Now let’s compare these smaller, more sensitive nerves that can predict changes in our environment to large nerves⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Large nerves - The large nerves found in our ankle ligaments, tendons and joint capsule are SLOWER compared to the small nerves.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ When you put on shoes, socks or train on thick pads or mats, you enter a large nerve environment, where your nervous system becomes slower because you are blocking the sensory input coming through the skin on the bottom of your feet.⠀⠀ In other words, if you don’t want to have recurring injuries, don’t depend only on the large nerves. Train your small nerves⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Heres how:⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Barefoot training with a purpose –strengthening foot intrinsic muscles, tapping into the fascial and nervous system, and even bringing barefoot stimulation into your shoes with @naboso_technology insoles.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ For foot and ankle strengthening exercises, refer to my previous IGTVs⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ To learn more about barefoot training, barefoot science and Certification courses, head over to @ebfa_fitness or the link in my bio! Change can be so difficult because the things we currently do (even if they are unhelpful) will often have some sort of reward/ function that comes with it. Changing how we relate to others, in collectivist cultures, can be particularly difficult because of the values of group harmony, care and selflessness. But being part of a group doesn’t mean you have to give up parts of yourself. The development of personality and identity happens from a young age, as we get older we strive to have our own sense of identity separate to our parents and others around us. But if hadn’t been given that space, or if our attempts were met with negativity or hostility, we can find it difficult to value ourselves as individuals within the group. At this point in my life I feel I’m coming out the other end and have stopped feeling distressed if someone disapproves of me or is disappointed with me. #peoplepleaser #peoplepleasing #codependency #codependencyrecovery #codependentnomore #selfworth #selfworthquotes #selfworthmovement #selfworthjourney #selflovejourney #relationshipadvice #selfawareness #muslimmentalhealth #southasianmentalhealth #loveyourself #youareworthy #mentalhealthawarenessmonth #minoritymentalhealth #validation #innerchildhealing #innerchildwork - @spiritual.psychologist on Instagram

I am holding this in mind with my kids a lot at the moment. Their sense of safety in the world has been disrupted by the events of this year.• • They are really resistant to doing things they used to enjoy.• • This is also helpful to hold in mind with ourselves. Instead of castigating ourselves for big feelings and reactions we can instead wonder what has threatened our sense of safety.• • Mothering feels much harder to me in the face of a lot of big feelings and when my children seem to be struggling, to really be present requires a lot of self soothing for me. It requires that I turn up in my adult, unencumbered by stories of what I have done wrong, and be there for them and take any necessary action. • If you were a parentified child you may also struggle, there is trauma around caregiving when we took the adult role too young. Acknowledging this and noticing the impact is important, and it can still be really hard in the present to actually do the caregiving role. Does this resonate with you? • • • • - @psychotherapy_mum on Instagram

. An emergency fund is for emergencies. Obvious, right? Except, it’s not always that simple. As I learned how to save, I quickly learned what wasn’t considered an emergency. Semi-annual sale? Not an emergency. Craving something sweet? Nope. Bored at 3am? Wrong again. There were more instances than I can count where I determined “X is not an emergency.” Recognizing what doesn’t constitute an emergency is important — a great practice. And when you practice something enough it becomes a habit. It’s only natural. So, what happens when you have an actual emergency? I can’t be too sure. Emergencies manifest a lot of different ways. Sometimes you even have to remind yourself that something IS an emergency - an unforeseen but unavoidable expense - like a furlough. I regularly repeat to myself that “furlough is an emergency”, though it doesn’t make it any easier to accept. To my fellow flight attendants, I wish I could hug you. With the way this year is going, even that is impossible. I don’t know how long this will last or what’s on the other side. But, I do hope to see you in terminals when this is all over. Rodra Allen, she/her slides 1 - 5: untitled poems @lilbabyrod “I don’t title any of my poems but I picked the ones that spoke to my experience as a black woman (except one)....the Black Third Space, for me, is a place Black people can exist fully in whatever joy, trauma, whatever human experience we are having, without having to put on a face. It is a place Blackness can be expressed at its most pure and wide ranging. There is no one to shield our hurt from, stifle our rage, or lull our joy for in this space. I chose the poems I did to reflect the ways I have felt degraded in my Blackness, in love with my Blackness, and righteous in it too. I feel having a space to showcase the art of Black people during a time of revolution is incredibly important. Art has always been a far reaching part of protest simply because it is a reflection of humanity.” [Image description: 5 white slides, each containing a short poem written in centered, serif, black text. Slide 1: “Do you ever lay in your bed, naked/ Holding your body in religious reverence/ I was the first one at my feet/ I know that I am a loving and holy divine thing”. Slide 2: “I saw a picture of another burning cathedral/ My ancestors are bitter and indignant/ I felt them rise at the looks of pity/ At the hands grasping at a heart/ Mourning a potential loss of culture, of art/ I felt them rise and it sounded like/ Do you remember the cultures your cathedrals burned down?/ They resent that my thoughts/ Come to them dressed in their abuser’s language/ That I present their abuser’s name/ As their lineage and my own/ That their children, the color of earth/ With skin the sun rises each day/ To kiss deeply and reverently/ Chant their worth like a church hymn/ Or like a private confession/ A desperate sweaty palmed prayer/ That we have become a crusade against ourselves/ So, in the name of black fists rising/ In the name of nappy/ Of black heads lifting/ In the name of black feet marching/ Rejoicing, dancing/ In the name of blackness/ My ancestors are feeding the flames”. continued in the comments - @black3rdspace on Instagram

I have been in therapy on and off for the past 5 years and consistently since I moved to California 3 years ago. And I’m so proud of it. It helps me work through past and current feelings + emotions and gives me tools I can implement that helps me gain peace with things and ultimately feel more fulfilled. ⠀ For so long I avoided going to therapy because society told me it meant “I had a problem.” And it was right I do have problems! 🙋🏼♀️ Who doesn’t? But now I’m working through them rather than letting them fester and create more problems that ultimately leave me feeling alone and less fulfilled. ⠀ I honestly believe everyone should see a therapist, even if just a few times a year to check in. My therapist has always told me the best time to go to therapy often is when things are good to prevent negative feelings, emotions, and reactions from coming on in the future. I encourage you if you’ve ever thought about or wanted to go to therapy, but that fear of “it means I have a problem” is holding you back do your research to find a therapist that speaks to you and book the appointment! ⠀ Anyone else love their therapy sessions?? ⠀ #nationalsuicidepreventionday #nationalsuicidepreventionweek #nationalsuicidepreventionmonth #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #therapy #therapyworks - @kateturner_rd on Instagram

Ok truth time: how many of you judge a day - or a meal - as “good” or “bad” based upon what you ate (or didn’t eat) that day? 🙋♀️🙋🏿🙋🏽♂️ I just had this convo with a client, which inspired this (accidentally long) thread. Your body does NOT magically reset every night at midnight. That means you need to stop judging a day (or meal) as good or bad based upon some arbitrary standard or food/diet rules. This is a type of binary thinking which sets you up for only 1 of 2 options: success or failure. This leaves no space for you to engage, reflect, learn or grow. Binary thinking makes us feel safe, like we have control. Diet culture plays right into that: “if you do this, everything will be ok”. But life does not exist in the binary. And when we talk about food and bodies, reducing ourselves to such inflexible, black and white terms limits us from growing and changing. Binary thinking also causes a disconnect between body and mind. Instead of listening to your body, you end up reacting to the labels and judgments that are placed up the food (or you). It also causes guilt and shame, and can lead to self-punishing behaviors (often using food). Instead, if you can suspend judgment, and sit with any uneasiness or anxiety that arises, a third element emerges: the grey area ⬜️◻️◽️ I know I know, everyone hates the grey area. But it is here where the most meaningful learning and growing and changing occurs. Living in the grey presents each life experience (& eating experience) as an opportunity to learn & experiment, rather than to pass or fail. The grey area allows for nuance & flexibility to emerge. You can then make decisions based on body cues instead of external environment. In terms of nutrition, the grey area means zooming out & looking at the bigger picture. Take a look at your overall eating patterns: -Are there places where you would like to add in more nourishing foods? -Or are there times when you want to try to eat a wider variety of foods? For example, during a stressful period, all that sounded good was quick-digesting carbs and comfort foods - I didn’t touch a vegetable, fruit, or whole-grain for over a week. Its pretty simple: we instinctively focus on negative over positive for our survival. Our ancestors who remembered all the bad things that happened to them took precautions, and were more likely to survive. The ones who thought about bad things happening and planned ahead were more likely to survive. Those negative worriers (mixed in with a lot of luck) are the reason were still here today. That’s not to say that fixating on only the negative things happening is optimal. Its good for survival, but not mental health or relationships. It’s also not to say that there arent tools and practices that can help us shift our attention away from the difficulties and worries. There are. Ingredients for attaining total being nourishment (thoughts, actions, support)~✨🌱🌊☀️🤸🏻 •practice conscious thought: as Buddha explains, your thoughts eventually become you and your life. Become aware of what you want (make them goals), envision it, and then shift your inner dialogue to promote this (fill your mind with positivity, motivation, affirmation, and inspiration) •align every action with your goals: start to live by these goals so that your lifestyle, routines, and all the things you do in between are contributing to them. Be the person you want to be, put in the work. •create a supportive environment: build or transform the environment around you, wherever you are, that supports your path and surrounds you with stimulating exposures or convenience for health (like-minded people, places that make you feel good, healthy and enjoyable foods, spiritual practice, home revamping) - @thenaturopathicdietitian on Instagram

Before the “nice cream” people come after me please know that I’m not attacking you- just the concept of a frozen banana being a substitute for ice cream. I could see a frozen blended banana being a nice refreshing snack, but let’s not let diet culture try to convince us it’s ice cream (and calling it “nice” has some weird food morality to it, doesn’t it?) See also: cauliflower rice is not rice, zucchini noodles are not pasta, etc. Possibly a fun way to eat bananas? Sure!! Is it ice cream? Definitely not! It’s not the food itself, rather the intention behind our choices that matters. If you’re choosing to have “nice cream” when what you really want is ice cream, consider if the intention is rooted in fear/ food rules and remember that you have PERMISSION to enjoy the real deal 🍨 🍦 **EDIT to add**: I recognize that “nice cream” was an idea coined by the vegan community to come up with a non dairy alternative to traditional ice cream (likely when there were fewer of those options available!), and “nice” doesn’t necessarily insinuate morality with food, rather an ethical vegan option 🐮 This post is directed towards those struggling with eating disorders or disordered eating, and calling out diet culture’s role in food swaps/alternatives which is rooted in healthism and orthorexia. My goal is to help folks identify the WHY behind food choices, and to help tease apart a preference or positive intention, like gentle nutrition for a dairy sensitivity/intolerance, from a food rule or fear. As always, there is so much nuance that can not be captured in an Instagram caption and IG is not a substitute for 1:1 nutrition therapy. If you’re struggling with seeing posts/topics like this, I encourage you to reach out for support to explore your relationship with food 🧡 - @liberatednutrition on Instagram

I’m beginning to believe, the longer I do this “mama thing,” that children don’t have a motivation problem, they have a trust problem. They don’t have a disrespect problem, they have a trust problem. They don’t have a confidence problem, they have a trust problem. We push our kids to eat when they don’t want to, so they learn to distrust their own hunger cues. We force them to hug when they don’t want to, so they begin to distrust their own body limits. We force them to play instruments or read too young or do activities they aren’t interested in so they begin to distrust their own curiosities. We make them share + apologize and recite little scripts that they don’t understand all for the means of being “respectful” or “polite.” Children don’t need us for a lot. They need us to help them feel safe + remind them we trust them. They will “learn” all of this when we model it in our own lives, and when we give them time, trust + support to eventually do it in theirs. We trust their pace + their interests. We trust their “no.” We trust their limits + their space + their curiosities. This is how we build confidence, consideration, motivation, respect + empathy. Trusting our children begins with trusting ourselves first. Do you trust yourself? 👇🏼 - @courtneyjburg on Instagram

I’m sure you’ve been hearing and seeing a lot of the phrases “sit with your emotions” or “allow yourself to feel” But why? Why should you sit with something uncomfortable like uncomfortable emotions? To answer in a nutshell: sitting with emotions and feelings allows you to become more aware of when things inside of your mind are out of balance. You may not be aware things are out of equilibrium because maybe you’ve gotten so good at suppressing or avoiding digging deep. This habitual trauma response may have desensitized you and is keeping you from finding true, sustainable healing. Learning to tune back into your body and brain will help you learn to recognize when you need to: STOP what you are doing and ASSESS the situation before just being reactive. Reactivity often causes more harm to your mental health and relationships. Learning to listen to your physical and mental warning signals will help you become a responder not a reactor. Swipe through to see some examples of these warning signals, and how to sit with and question them to begin uncovering the root issue. **I’ll be talking about this process extensively and walking you through more examples of this as it relates to depression, anxiety, anger, etc. in my virtual Mental Heath Summit. The issues with counting calories? Our calorie needs vary from day-to-day. It can cause stress and stress can trigger gut issues. The FDA allows calories on food labels to be off by 20% Low calorie snacks are typically filled with poor ingredients which can hinder gut healing. Focus on your plant intake 💚🌱 Our modern diet and lifestyle have reduced the diversity of the gut microbiome. This has happened due to highly processed foods, antibiotics, less food diversity and less dirt for us to play in. 🧬 Science shows our ancestors had much more diversity within their gut microbiome. The average modern diet consumes approximately 20 different types of foods annually. This is not enough diversity for our microbiome. 🌱 Increasing the diversity in your diet, will increase the resilience and diversity of your gut microbiome especially with plants and fermented foods. 💪 The foods we eat don’t just nourish us, they nourish our microbes too! 🦠 If you want to increase the diversity within your diet, make a fun challenge for you and your family to eat the rainbow to nourish the gut. 🌈 🍏🍌🍓🍍🥥🥑🍠🥦🥕🥒🥬 Let me know in the comments how diverse is your diet? 👇🏻 . . . . . #foodfreedom #dietculturedropout #womenempoweringwomen #foodfreedomforever #guthealth #celiacdisease #leakygut #plantdiversity #gutmicrobiome #gutbrainconnection #celiacproblems #ibsproblems #autoimmunedisease #autoimmunediseases #aip #guthealthcoach #bloating #constipation #guthealthy #guthealthmatters #guthealing #gutfriendly #gutfeeling #celiac #gutbrainaxis #gutbacteria #gutflora #healthygut #leakygut #happygut - @reclaimedhealthjayde on Instagram

A post worth repeating! ⠀ ⠀ Perfectionism and overwhelm go hand in hand. And, they are both very detrimental to managing a chronic illness like diabetes. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Check your expectations more than you check your blood sugar because if there’s an expectation of doing diabetes perfectly, there will also be the reality of feeling like you’re failing most of the time. It’s just not humanly possible. In fact, the reason people develop diabetes is because even the biological organ created to manage insulin (pancreas) failed—even it can’t do its job perfectly in 100% of humans. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Give yourself a break from the pressure and do what you can. It’ll go much further than doing nothing or overextending yourself to the point of overwhelm. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ What do you do tackle diabetes overwhelm? How do you talk yourself out of it? 👇🏽⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ #diabetessupport #diabetescommunity #diabetessucks #t1d #typeonestrong #prediabetes #t1dm #diabetesdistress #diabesties #americandiabetesassociation #collegediabetes #autoimmunemom #type1life #tslim #glucagon #diabetestypetwo #t1dfamily #t2dm #t1dwarrior #diabetesawareness #t1dathlete #t1dmom #type1international #typeonegrit #typeonediabetic #diabetessolution #diabetescure #diabetescontrol #typeonemom #diabetessupplies - @diabetesredefined on Instagram

This was a huge piece in my healing journey- understanding my patterns and behaviors. To understand that, I reflected a lot on my parents’ patterns and my family dynamics. It was eye opening to see how much I was unconsciously repeating. • We repeat these patterns unconsciously, and until we choose to heal our past trauma, the patterns get passed down and we continue to suffer. • Ways to change patterns: ✨ Reflect on your family patterns. ✨Self-reflect on your own behaviors and patterns: Are you repeating unhealthy patterns? Can you find new ways to respond? ✨Heal the underlying trauma: Therapy is the best route. Therapy can help you realize you’re worthy of healing. Crying is not a weakness. Crying is the body letting go of all shit we’ve held onto. If we want to heal to the capacity of being able to “take steps forward” to a life + a being that feels most authentic, we MUST grieve.. and that takes time of being honest + transparent with yourself, feeling your emotions, rewiring your subconscious, acknowledging the parts of you that feel dark and then... release to transform. I’m not saying this is easy. Look at children. After they’ve had their “tantrum” of kicking, screaming + crying, they feel better and continue with their innate ability to let go, move on + embody joy. As adults, we lose this OR we hide away in places within ourselves because we’ve been wounded ie “I don’t feel safe to feel.” Embrace your sensitivities and vulnerabilities — the parts of you that are child like in nature!! THAT is your strength and that is the fuel that powers your journey. Trust me. It’s Leo season. If we want to “take action,” we have to release and feel. Your cup is neither half full or half empty. Your cup is limitless. Your emotions are beautiful. Your feelings are valid. Your fears are conquerable. Happy Friday, friends! The vagus nerve is key for nervous system regulation, controlling the parasympathetic nervous system is an important task.⠀ ⠀ Vagal tone is measured by tracking your heart-rate alongside your breathing rate. ⠀ ⠀ High vagal tone improves the function of many body systems and is associated with improved moods, lowered anxiety, and many other benefits.⠀ ⠀ Lower vagal tone on the other hand is associated with many conditions such as depression, diabetes, chronic fatigue, higher inflammation rates, and more.⠀ ⠀ Fortunately, even if you suffer from a low vagal tone there are a few things you can do to improve, it just takes a little time and practice.⠀ ⠀ Here are some ways to tone the vagus nerve: ⠀ ⠀ 1. Diaphragmic breathing - slow, steady, deep breathing from the diaphragm, rather than short quick breaths from the top of the lungs will help stimulate and tone your vagus nerve.⠀ ⠀ 2. Humming/Singing/Chanting - The vagus nerve is connected to the vocal cords, so any type of rhythmic humming, singing, or even chanting will help stimulate it. ⠀ ⠀ 3. Taking a cold shower, and even washing your face with cold water regularly will stimulate the vagus nerve.⠀ ⠀ 4. Meditation - Controlled breathing and meditation have been shown to be beneficial over and over again throughout the years.⠀ ⠀ Interested in learning more? How Much Vitamin D Do You Need? ☀️🤔 Did you realise that how well you synthesise Vitamin D comes down, in part, to your genetics. Specifically the Vitamin D Receptor gene. Wait, wait, bear with me. With Vitamin D, I recommend testing your levels with a blood test and boosting with supplementation if needed. 💊 Most people in the UK need to do this in the winter months to be able to keep performing at the top level. As high performers we should always be looking for ways to take ourselves to the next level. 💪 To do this with Vitamin D you need to use the 100x rule to calculate: Subtract your current blood serum value (ideal range is between 50-80ng/ml) from your goal and multiply the difference by 100 to get the dose in IUs. As an example... if your current serum value is 30ng/ml and you want to get to 80ng/ml then the dose you would need to take is 5,000IUs. We should always be retested 3 months later to check your levels, taking to much can have the adverse effect. Vitamin D is one the few vitamins that we can manipulate to keep ourselves at the top of our game. You just need to take control. Have you ever looked into this as a performance and health hack before? 🤔 #vitamind #sun #highperformance #health #nutrition #women #businesswomen #sheboss #businesswoman #femaleceo #motivation #supplements #biohacking #biohacker #focus #limitless #10x #getlean #bodyperformance #liveyoungerforlonger #dominate - @angelasfoster on Instagram

Have you heard this before? 💁 Before loading yourself up with fiber to improve your constipation, we actually need to clear your constipation so you dont run into trouble. One of my gut groupies came to my group program after having tried a plant-based diet to cure her constipation. What she found was the more fiber she added, the more miserable she felt. She was so confused because everything she read said fiber was good for her digestion, and she couldnt understand why it wasnt working for her. 😥 One of the first things I had this client work on was improving her meal hygiene: spending 20 minutes eating a meal, chewing really well, taking 3-4 hours in between meals to improve digestion, and practicing deep breathing before meals. I explained to her that we had to address her constipation FIRST before adding in more fiber. The more fiber she added, the more her constipation was building up. We needed to give her body the tools to properly eliminate before changing her diet. 🙌 Over time by addressing meal hygiene, taking magnesium and addressing her stomach acid levels, her constipation slowly started to improve. THEN, she could work on adding in fiber, and it was A-OK! 👏 Its confusing to feel like you have done everything for your gut health and nothing is working. Often, we need to step back and address the underlying causes before changing the diet too much! Want to find relief but cannot seem to get anywhere? Ive got you covered ❤ In my small group coaching program we work together to come up with a plan that works best for YOU so that you can get to the root of your digestive problems, and live the life you want free of restrictive eating and food fear! 🌟To apply click the link in my bio! 🌟 - @gutbrain.nutrition on Instagram

“Here, Billy take this meal plan; you’ll lose weight.” . Stop taking healthy behavior change and making it a white-knuckled, only within 10 weeks, and trying to tackle 6 new healthy behaviors type of challenge. . That is not coaching. . First, check with your state laws if you can even provide meal plans. Even then, be careful providing meal plans ... but the point is... . What if Billy isn’t even remotely prepared to go shopping? How do you know? Did you ask? . New behaviors should be coached like new exercises. Start so small the patient laughs at you. . Disclaimer: no victims of abuse ask, consent, or sign up for abuse. Also abuse is not an overnight matter. Physical and emotional abuse usually builds over time, and there are a lot of biological, psychological, even social factors in how/why people are in abusive relationships. And one of these factors in why we may have subconsciously choose someone who we would end up in an unhappy relationship with is our basic survival instinct. From our own actual needs in life (maybe you were financially struggling), unresolved family of origin wounds (attachment and other traumas), and how abuse works including trauma bonding, there was something about why/how we “choose” these partners in the first place. I used to beat up on myself when I realized I was in an unhealthy marriage, I spiraled for hours trying to analyze how and why I “picked” (parenthesis because so much of this is unconscious when you haven’t done your inner work), that man and feeling like it was my fault so I should try to make it work, or felt ashamed for being in that situation in the first place. It’s not your fault, there’s so many factors in how and why you’re in this situation. But you can start to heal and get the clarity you need to move forward. Nutrition can help low progesterone! Let me break it down for you; every time you ovulate, the little place on your ovary where the egg used to live transforms into a special gland called the corpus luteum. (I hate that name and it reminds me of the word “corpse” but I digress…) This miracle gland begins secreting progesterone! A vital hormone that fluffs the lining of your uterus into a soft little bed for baby to land. It also closes up your cervix and thickens the mucus barrier between your uterus and the outside world, keeping baby in and germs out! 🙌🏻 Beyond this, progesterone relaxes muscles, boosts metabolism, and does way more things than I could list here to your brain, breasts, skin, GI tract, and more!🥰 If you’re not ovulating regularly or if that little corpus luteum gland can’t make enough progesterone, cue sad trombone music and the list of symptoms I shared above😢 Oh but here’s the other b*tch about progesterone: it can be great one day and total crap the next! Singular blood tests don’t mean sh*t, really. You can test 100% fine and your levels can promptly tank in a few short hours. This is why I ❤️ DUTCH Cycle Map tests! These beautiful tests show your levels progesterone over many many days, detailing exactly how and when it rises and falls! This information makes low progesterone SO TREATABLE! I love the idea of eating less meat, but I always feel so hungry ...or just unsatisfied when I try to go more plant-based. 😫 . . . Sound familiar?🤨 . . . ⤴️Above are some of the most common mistakes I see when people try to shift more plantbased. Let’s dive deeper.⤵️ . . . Fiber🌱, protein💪🏼, & fat🧠 help keep us satiated. Plant-based diets tend to be higher in carbs🧆, so it’s important to make sure you’re choosing carbs with higher fiber 💩& protein 🌯amounts. Even a simple swap like quinoa or oats in lieu of rice (even brown rice is still fairly low in fiber and protein) can help! . . . 🌱Plant-based diets tend to be lower in fat🧈, especially ones that omit eggs🥚 & dairy🧀. Fat helps with meal satisfaction😋 and longer lasting energy⚡️Be sure to include fats in cooking or add in 🥑avocado, 🥜nuts, seeds, or olives to your plate!🍴 . . . ⁉️Are you eating enough or did you just omit meat without a replacement? 🧐I’m not saying you have to substitute meat 1:1 with a veggie based meat product, but you do need to adjust your portions to make sure you’re still hitting your needs. ➡️Similarly, plant-based meals tend to be higher in volume - think big leafy salads 🥬and grain bowls🥙. Fiber is awesome, but if your meal is all high fiber, lower carb veggies you may feel full very quickly, but not have actually eaten enough other nutrients to keep you satisfied🧐 . . . Friend, incorporating plantbased meals shouldn’t leave you hungry or feeling like something is missing! 🤟🏼DM me or comment below with other questions you have about plant based eating🗣 - @redefininghealthy_rd on Instagram

This morning I was interviewed by the amazing Emma, from @thebreatheffect. We talked all about diet culture and in the impact, its having on women all around the world. And we also talked about my own history with disordered eating and body dysmorphia that I battled as a teen. If your new here, then you may not know this already, but one of the reasons why I am so passionate about what I do is because I was once the girl suffering from major anxiety, borderline depression, fear, and negative self-talk when I become entrenched in diet culture as a young teen. Many people just assume that if you live in a small privileged frame, you cant suffer from body dysmorphia, or your food phobias are just a show. YOu know, you cant seriously be worried about eating that? your so skinny?. You look so great!. Its more than weight. Its the fear of weight gain. Its thinking your worth is based on your size, because you get praised for being so good with your food. For looking so fit and healthy. For those of you who identify yourself as a smaller-bodied female, but still struggle to feel at peace with food and your body. EVEN though your logical brain is like come on, stop being stupid.. I GET YOU. At the end of the interview, Emma asked me, what would you say to your 16-year self? And the very first thing that came out, was You are so much more than a body. Id tell her she didnt need to spend so much time and energy getting the perfect photo angles. If her weight went up a few kgs over summer, its okay, it means nothing. That she can have the bread, not just pick off the pizza toppings. And that her value is not based on the size of her clothes. How about you? For those of you who have over-come teenage dieting, what would you say to your teenage self? xx www.kimberleybellnutrition.co.nz - @kimberleybellnutrition on Instagram

Hands up for being kind to yourself!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Migraine is a tricky condition. It is certainly not your fault in any way - most of us are genetically predisposed to it, and there is no cure. But there are also things we do day-to-day that may play a role (big or small) in how our symptoms manifest. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ One of my clients shared with me something so insightful - she was beginning to see that migraine episodes are not a punishment for something she did wrong. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Migraine is not a punishment for eating the wrong food, or forgetting to drink water, or having that third cup of coffee. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You dont deserve your pain, even if in some small way you might have, maybe, possibly contributed to it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Migraine is a condition that you have whether you do everything perfectly or not. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Cut yourself a break, friend. Migraine is not your fault. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #migraine #migraines #migrainediet #migrainetriggers #migrainewarrior #healyourheadache #migrainenutrition #migrainenutritionist #naturalmigrainerelief #migrainewellness #dietitiansofig #headache #spoonie - @the.migraine.dietitian on Instagram

Super brain agers (yes it is a thing, promise) have one thing in common across the board. They don’t stop learning, connecting with others, and constantly challenging their minds! So here’s a short and sweet summary of the activities that build your cognitive reserve without nerding out too much! 1. Learn a new fact or a word. What does Collywobbles mean?? 🧐 2. What did you do on Wednesday last week? 3. How much of the details can you recall from March 17, 2020? Visualize and verbalize in detail. 4. Learn a 3 chord song, a 5 step dance, a 10 step recipe, etc. 5. Draw the room you just left, or the person/object you just encountered from memory. Artistic acumen won’t be tested 🤓.
