Mis primer evento con mi compañía de Sushi Glam ! Para aquellos que me conocen sobre todo alumnos que les he contado sobre mi primera experiencia de emprender en el mundo de los eventos. Encontré esta foto en el baúl de los recuerdos creo que es del 2004. Aquí estoy en mi primer evento una fiesta corporativa donde tuve que servir Nyotaimori (mesa humana de Sushi) una historia larga 😛 En esa época estaba obsesionada con montar una empresa de Sushi a domicilio en mi país (Uruguay ) época en que no había Sushi prácticamente y no existían las redes sociales. Emprender fue un reto enorme, darme a conocer ni les cuento, fue una época de mucho aprendizaje no solo porq estudié con Iwao Komishama el Master Sushi más reconocido del mundo fuera de Japón sino que aprendí toda la historia del Sushi su recorrido cultural hasta llegar a cada rincón de America ! Sushi Glam me dejo 3 grandes aprendizajes 1- no importa que no lo sepas hacer, que nunca lo hayas hecho antes si estás seguro de lo que quieres lo logras. 2- Las ganas te llevarán hacer cosas que no imaginas... (tengo mil anécdotas ) vivía en Montevideo frente al jardín japonés mientras estudiaba obsesivamente las distintas formas de montar una mesa de sushi llegue a sustraer en el jardín 15 piedras japonesas auténticas para usarlas como soporte de mis Hashi (palitos japoneses) en esa época reunía a mis mejores amigos y les preparaba una gran cena de sushi para que me dieran su opinión. Después de la cena regrese al Jardín japonés y devolví las piedras Lo Juro 😂 3- nadie te regalará nada, ni halagos, ni contratos, ni clientes, te los ganas o no Esta Pandemia me recuerda tormentas que ya viví, lo cierto es que la tormenta pasará y quedarán nuestras ganas de seguir Iguales o diferentes ? en mi caso diferente a todo pero con las mismas ganas amor y pasión por lo que amo hacer. Some exciting news to share! It’s no secret since my Masterchef days that I’m a hawker food kinda guy and lover of all things local. No matter how hard I try, I’m just not a fan of fancy pants stuff and in my humble opinion, a good old school hawker stall beats any atas joint anytime. So, after years of talking, I have decide to put my money where my mouth is and support the hawker culture in Singapore with my first humble little hawker stall. Pandemic or NOT. As we all know, not many young Singaporeans would consider the hawker trade. Perhaps it’s the image of a hot, wet and greasy environment that turns people off. But who says it must be that way? We talk about ‘reinventing’ hawker food all the time, but I sometimes feel maybe it’s the way a hawker operates that should be reinvented too. Who says a hawker stall can’t have an organized and updated kitchen? I’m no expert when it comes to actually running a hawker business and I don’t even know if it will work but I guess there is only one way to out, and that is what this little stall is all about. A traditional little dish with no fan fare that tastes and looks every bit as old school as can be but done in a whole new way. So I humbly share with you, my little bowl of mee hoon kway. Oehlen deconstructed painting into its most basic elements: color, form, and movement. His artistic process evolved as technology did, when his work began to explore the use of inkjet printers and computer design programs. As new challenges arose, Oehlen continued to persevere and push his boundaries of creating by limiting his pallet and experimenting with collage and spray paint on large-scaled works. He confidently strayed away from the traditional rules of painting and found beauty in the awkward gestures, artificial pigments, and muddy tones, often leaving what many viewed as outrageous messes. Jostling his even biggest fans to entertain their own perception of what is meant to be “good”. However, what one can agree on is that Oehlen’s works radiate a long-lasting energy that possess a beauty of its own. Within the muddiness, your eye picks up on the tender pinks, neon yellows, and dreamy purples. Although, a true collector might say the real beauty lies within the artist’s continuous struggle for self-improvement, plagued by his own imposter syndrome.
