Artificial Tears (Imitation Game) Over many decades machines have proven to be stronger, faster, and more efficient in performing various tasks. Yet the narrative of the conscious system continues to emerge from human imagination as a disastrous model that puts machines in direct competition with our precarious, mortal bodies and minds, easily replaceable by a technological device. Even more than automation we fear autonomy - the vision of technology evolved from the extension of man into singular intention, inheriting human desires for domination and control. The most reassuring and simultaneously most dangerous thought lies in the fact that as the Turing Test is based on human judgement; all AI has a human teacher at its origin. The Test poses the greatest challenge not to the one who answers the questions but to the one who asks them. The game is conversational and cultural, replacing “thinking” with “imitation”. The results do not depend on the machines ability to give correct answers, but on the resemblance of those of its human counterpart. In her works, which are situated somewhere between painting and installation, she speaks in her very own, humorous way of topics that range from „Germany“ and „migration“ to „commercialization“ and „(brand) identity“. A German shepherd dog, a German flag, a Mercedes star, brand logos, manga figures – Vovk chooses powerful images and symbols to tell us stories that give us a little insight into her thought In Vovk’s Viewing Room „Powerful Daily Affirmations“ we see her painting „carpe diem“ which is part of her „tabooed hobby art material“ series. In this work, Vovk counteracts the established, elitist „painting ethos“ by using Window Color. In the text installation „Powerful Daily Affirmations“, Vovk playfully responds to all the positive affirmations that we constantly encounter on the internet and which fill numerous „self-help“ bookshelves. Instead of the regular positive life-affirming, self-improvement version we’re used to, we are now confronted with self-criticism and self-hate statements, which are often deeply integrated in many peoples thinking patterns. The wall installation „B for Business“ is to be understood like a large drawing, where the individual components and parts can be moved as required. In this way, the entire installation – and thus also the course of the whole story – can be retold over and over again. Выставь у подъезда, вдруг кому-то счастье. Листик с диетой на дверце холодильника (не смешно!) Ежевечерние разговоры по телефону, когда она тебе: «Ну ты представляешь, какой ужас!» — а ты: «Угу! Конечно!» — а сама в это время переминаешься с ноги на ногу, потому что несмотренный Хаус. А у нее каждый день ужас — зачем оно тебе? Слова утром: «Еще пять минут!» — таймеру на мобильном пофиг. Или вставай вовремя, или ставь время для себя, а не «по совести». Не работает!!! Переживания по поводу того, все ли ты за сегодня успел сделать идеально (nobody is perfect — на холодильник вместо диеты!) Сожаления о прошлых поступках, отношениях, о выборе, сделанном когда-то… Сожаления — к черту! Все правильно. Что бы там ни было, это было единственно верное решение для тебя тогдашнего, в той конкретной ситуации. Никакого раскаяния, только опыт и благодарность. Раздумья о том, «а что, если бы…» — или делай, или не думай. Попробуй — понравится — иди дальше. Каток, японский язык, познакомиться с кем-то, новую работу, изменить стрижку, сходить в театр и пр. Прямо завтра — хотя бы что-то одно, а? Вместо раздумий, которые отменить. Привычку всегда по несколько раз извиняться. Достаточно одного искреннего «прости», если есть причина. Все остальное — лишнее, балласт. Кофты, джинсы и прочую ерунду, которая тебе не идет, не нравится, старит, полнит и т. п. Никаких дач!; В утиль!; Ты себя не на помойке нашел, ходи всегда красивый. Du Tu (Image Speaks) “The Sky Fell Twice” - Leandro Katz (2018) - Since 1978, I started my ongoing observation of moon cycles, and created a lunar alphabet based on photographs of all the phases of the moon. The poem in “Popol Vuh”, an ancient narrative from the Mayan-Quiche people in Guatemala, this version by the Guatemalan author Miguel Ángel Asturias says on the lunar face: “All this happened to us, all this happened, the sky fell twice.” This mysterious work seems to refer to the sky as a forgotten language and representation far from modern common horizons, but still always there above us. Le MAC est privilégié d’ajouter à sa Collection l’œuvre intitulée chant pour l’eau [Kinosipi]***. L’installation est une composition créée à partir du spectre sonore d’une chanson de Karine Wasiana Echaquan, conteuse et chanteuse atikamekw. Ce projet de nature collaborative est la troisième installation d’une série de « chants pour l’eau » interprétés à partir de différentes rivières sur le territoire. Les rivières étaient les connecteurs entre les lieux et les communautés avant le développement des autoroutes. Cette œuvre porte l’image d’un testament oral sur la relation entre les eaux, les populations et le territoire. Oggi, per la mostra “Out of the Blue, Viaggio nella Calligrafia attraverso Alcantara” vi raccontiamo due degli artisti che presentano le loro opere a Palazzo Reale. La prima è l’opera di Qu Lei Lei. Riempiendo la sala con un insieme di dinamici testi, l’artista cattura e re-interpreta estratti di fake news attuali attraverso tecniche calligrafiche cinesi, generando linee visibili o sfuocate che interagiscono con le proprietà di Alcantara. Antiche eredità culturali e forme originarie emergono e si confrontano così a nuovi linguaggi espressivi. L’artista Qin Feng invece (nella seconda immagine), non lavora su tracce a cui poi si darà la compiutezza di una forma, ma sulle immediate forme dell’idea stessa. Nessuna distanza tra il pensiero e il gesto primigenio. La spontaneità del movimento calligrafico sprigiona un’energia primordiale, esprimendosi nel principio filosofico Taoista del Wu Wei 无为 “agire nel non agire”. The legendary Moriyama Daido stands beside his large-scale silkscreen on canvas self-portrait print, Farewell Photography 1972 / 2020, now shown at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum as part of “Moriyama Daidos Tokyo: ongoing.” This new exhibition of works by Moriyama examines Tokyo, the city that has captivated him, and served as subject, backdrop, and inspiration for over five decades. Moriyama’s Tokyo is ever evolving, actively incorporating the newness of the present day, while retaining the memory of its past. As the 2020/2021 Tokyo Olympic games approaches, the exhibition will offer contemplation on a city that has undergone tremendous change through the eyes of an unparalleled figure in contemporary photography. “Tokyo: ongoing” opened early this June and will close September 22. But for fans in Taipei eager to see Moriyamas silkscreen works, like the very same one the artist stands before, Each Modern is currently showing “Moriyama Daido : Pop Noir” a new exhibition of silkscreen on canvas prints that straddle to world of Pop Art and the stark high-contrast views of pseudo-expressionistic cinema. “Pop Noir” is now open at Each Modern and will run through October 10. Modellare l’acqua con estro e poesia. La nuova #installazione ambientale di #MarioAirò evoca forme naturali. Ma lo fa attraverso l’uso di elementi in #ceramica che simulano una #fontana. Sono forme sospese e acrobatiche dove la #scultura esce dal suo alveo per sperimentare nuove, imprevedibili, sensazioni. Modellare l’acqua, promossa dalla #FondazioneMalvinaMenegaz, a cura di #SimoneCiglia, è stato tra i progetti vincitori dell’ #ItalianCouncil2019 ed entrerà nella collezione del #MuseoInternazionaledella mCeramica di Faenza. Dopo la tappa alla Galleria Bazament di Tirana, l’opera è esposta, sino a fine mese, a #PalazzoDeSanctis nel borgo medievale di Castelbasso, in un bella #mostra “La forma della terra” che ha predisposto la geografia della ceramica contemporanea in Italia. Insieme a Airò espongono, tra gli altri, #EnzoCucchi, #MatteoFato, #FlavioFavelli, #MathieuMercier, #AdrianPaci, #LucaMariaPatella, #MimmoPaladino, #LucaTrevisani, #Vedovamazzei e #LucaVitone. . Modelling Water is the new environmental #installation by Mario Airò, which evokes natural shapes using #ceramic elements that compose a #fountain.
