I was writing a caption about weddings in the time of Covid-19 and all the ways I think they’re possible. It turned into such a long post though, that I think perhaps I should either make it part of a elopement guide or perhaps a blog post on the website. Once upon a time I was asked, “Which cartoon character did you relate to most growing up?” I remember not having to think twice and blurting out, “Oh, Homer Simpson, one hundred percent.” The clumsiness, minimal capacity to pick up on social cues, unconventional ideas of romance, constant efforts in rectifying mistakes. More than anything, it was that look of guilt he’d make because he couldn’t buy as many Christmas presents as Ned Flanders or because he wasn’t as romantic as that one guy who was really good at bowling and made Marge have a “You Make Me Wanna” by Usher moment. I think I was just as aware then as I am now that whoever I’d end up with would have to be like Marge —extremely patient, willing to call me out when I do dumb things, and understand that I am constantly trying to be better, even when it seems I’m hopeless. Now I’m not going to get all Love Is Blind and declare that I’ve never felt a certain way, because whether or not we own up to it or not, a lot of us have had varying levels of that can’t eat, can’t sleep, home run at the bottom of the 9th kind of love. What I can say is that I’m so much more aware of what it takes to make something that profound last, that I’m glad K is still putting up with my dad jokes and my affinity for pineapple on pizza. If I’m Mission: Impossible, she’s definitely Tom Cruise. This is the end of my time on this account. For a long time I have felt the tension of knowing that I was not always aligning my beliefs in working toward social justice and anti-racism with my professional image as a photographer. Vulnerability time! ⠀ ⠀ The words below pulled verbatim from a scrappy email to my own coach on March 24th of this year, when she challenged me to identify my WHY:⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ 🌿Because I care about myself after being at the bottom of the list for decades⠀ ⠀ 🌿Because I love the way it feels to want to look in the mirror rather than avoid it⠀ ⠀ 🌿Because the weight of regret is heavier than anything else I’ve ever carried around⠀ ⠀ 🌿Because my kids are watching and I know the stakes have never been higher⠀ ⠀ 🌿Because I love feeling confident in my skin; it empowers me and gives me confidence I never had until I was 40 years old. /she says shes not a poet but i find her poems to have more meaning more beauty, more heart to them than mine and the way she uses her words can change how a person is feeling from sad to happy just with a couple of phrases knitted together she says shes not a good writer but those early morning last minute essays of pure adrenaline and half-awake thoughts present ideas in such a way that its impossible to find them anything but perfect she says shes not sure what her future will bring but i know her shes smart and shes so wonderfully stubborn that wherever she may end up she will go farther than anyone could have ever imagined including me i cant predict exactly where shell be in 4 months or 4 years but i know her path will go down the most bountiful roads and in the end shell be happy and all will be worth it she says shes not grateful but almost everything she does she does for others she loves her parents and hurts when they hurt she realizes what they do for her, and wants to make them the proudest parents on earth she loves her friends and tries to make them better she says shes a relationship whisperer and i guess shes right because with a few choice words gentle nudges and an onslaught of appreciated suggestions she whispered us together she says that the dark spots on the sun can bring shadow to the most brilliant light but not even the dark of endless night can dim her brightness or hide her from those who see her for who she is who see her potential she doubts herself sometimes she thinks she wont succeed, always worried that what shes done isnt enough or that theres too little time to get everything done but no matter the odds no matter what shes up against she pushes through she persists, she fights and she gets what she wants or as close to what she wants as is actually possible sometimes she even achieves the impossible and its nothing if not admirable showing me that anything is possible proving to me that You could rattle the stars You could do anything If only you dared not by anything ive done but by everything shes accomplished Continued in comments.. - @hamza_kazi95 on Instagram

Hello World 🌍 Croydon Calling, I just wanted to say that on average I spend 7 hours daily on Instagram reading and commenting on posts that I like and another 3 to 4 hours writing poetry, like tonight’s poem for example took me 4 hours to write and I enjoyed every minute of it and at the same went through a whole pot of Green Mint Tea. My kids come back from Italy 🇮🇹 Friday next and I m back to work, yes I do have a job, from Sunday next, for the next two weeks I need to help my mother in law in the Garden as the planting season for broad beans is upon us they need to be planted in the month of October and it’s a large garden to clear, I need to paint 🎨 not that sort of paint 🎨 I need to paint the entrance door, gates and railing, my car needs a service, basically all this is going to take time and as I can’t add about six hours to the 24 hour day I will have to reduce some of the activities I do with that in mind my next post will be on 20/9/20 at 03:00 hrs or there about I will still be on Instagram to support and read your good work but I won’t be posting I have too much respect for all of you to just rush through with pieces of poetry that are not up to your usual high standards, I will post a note tomorrow to thank everyone and to say when poetrydrive will be driving again, in the mean time I hope you like tonight’s poem it’s a continuation of yesterday’s theme, and the strange thing about Andalucia is that I seem to think I lived there once spending my time playing the Oud which I m actually learning to play and writing poetry there with my Jewish and Christian friends, love for All ❤️Love is All❤️Said Otmani #poetry #andalucia #andaluspoems #cordoba #granadapoetry #poetsofinstagram - @poetrydrive on Instagram

This one feels too important not to share. The heroines journey into the birth labyrinth is a series of portals and transformational thresholds that only the birthing woman can enter alone. Her chosen birth keepers (if she so chooses) have navigated these rivers before, but her journey is hers alone. Full of personal trials to be present to that which only she can meet in her own psyche and subconscious. When we walk the path with our clients, birth keepers must be willing to walk through the fire too. I almost wanted to cry a little tear of happiness yesterday evening, as I ran out in the woods with my camera. It feels like it was such a long time ago. I missed it so much. This summer has been a little bit hard in that way. Been drowned in work for the upcoming webshop release, and every evening Ive been looking out the window thinking Soon...I just have to be done with this first. The days passed by and I felt more and more drained. The more work I got done, the more work I realized I had left to do. . Yesterday I thought to myself that if I dont go out now and enjoy this evening, this evening will never come back again. But all the work will always be there waiting for me. So i ran out in the sunset. And I knew exactly where I wanted to go. To my special place. The magical pond. Where the old pine trees have comforted me many times, and where the water is crystal clear in a beautiful green color. . That feeling...of being hold by nature. I felt so good. It was so needed. I sat in the water by the pond and not even the mosquitos felt to annoying. It was so recharging. Nature is so nurturing for our souls. I wish everybody had their own magical pond to go to. . After I while, I realized I am not the only one loving this place. Some fresh tiny piles of bearshit and big and small footprints in the soft, wet grass. A mama bear? I heard noises from further in the forest. My heart was beating so heavily. So strong. My body wanted to run. But I was not done there. I wanted to take some more photos before I left. I talked loudly and calm as I always do if I feel theres animals close by. Just telling them my intention is good and that I just want to capture a little glimpse of their world, to share with my world. . I saw no bears, thankfully. I walked home again as the darkness arrived, feeling like new. I watched the first little stars in the sky after the light summer. It still feels strange that the nights are dark again. But the stars always makes it feel so welcomed. What a beautiful evening ❤🙏🏻 - @jonnajinton on Instagram

2020 was a reset for a lot people and I hope everyone was able to receive a positive outcome despite of all the chaos going on in the world. Как мы находим идеи для съемок?📷 ⠀ Из множества способов найти крутую идею, у меня лично прижился один – простой и действенный: ⠀ ▫️ Всегда сразу записывать все, что приходит в голову. Даже мимолетное и вроде нелепое. Кому-то проще делать заметки в телефоне, а я обожаю использовать блокноты. *Наверное, отдельная мотивашка не забить, а записать – это кайф от самого процесса (красивая обложка, хорошая бумага - ммм) ⠀ ▫️ А когда уже хотите раскрутить идею – садитесь и полчаса пишите любые приходящие мысли. Если не получается, то отдыхаем (желательно не в телефоне) и – снова пишем. ⠀ Вроде бы суперочевидно. Но я понимаю, что осознанно стала так делать, только потому что ее порекомендовал один авторитетный продюсер на одном из обучений. ⠀ И, конечно, еще помогает Pinterest. Особенно если задавать идею, не добавляя в запрос «фотосессия». Так проще искать именно свой путь воплощения. ⠀ Полистали карусель?⬆️ ⠀ Здесь в качестве модели выступила @kateryna_stupakova, а снимать коллегу-фотографа - это всегда немножечко вызов. Хочется найти действительно крутую концепцию. Сейчас пишу, и понимаю, что поиски «того самого образа» заняли у меня почти две недели: варианты рождались и отбрасывались один за другим… ⠀ Но вдруг наткнулась на старое фото женщины, которая развешивает белье и зажглась – то самое! ⠀ Дальше – дело техники: грамотная подготовка для реализации идеи. Отдельная радость, что сейчас крупные проекты мы организуем в команде с @empower_union – оказалось, что когда ты не одиночка, намного проще проводить необычные творческие съемки. ⠀ Наверное, как и любому фотографу, мне важно чувствовать определенную свободу в творчестве. Hello World 🌎 Croydon Calling, so to o recap for those that skipped class yesterday and did not read my post, so far we have the whole family gathered in a mountain village overlooking the Tangier in Morocco 🇲🇦 my father in law who does a lot for the villagers supporting them with money for medicines and even paid to have a well built so they would have water, this he did over many years, so to thank him the villagers laid on a feast for us and told him he could have 1000 square metres of land free, he said he would accept which took me by surprise at the time as he always said don’t get attached to stuff, he said he would accept but he wanted to choose the location of the land and 1000 metres is no good and it’s not adequate for what he wanted to do with the land, I could sense some of the crowd turn against my father in law, thinking look he’s not even satisfied with 1000 and he wants to choose a prime location, my father in law stood up from where he was in the yard and said the piece of land I want is over there as he pointed, the village elder said that’s impossible that land is sacred, my father in law said that’s the land I want and I want two square meters of it, it was the cemetery, he died 4 years ago at 86 years of age I took him back there and the villagers all attended they even closed the village school and his coffin was met by school kids reciting the Quran as the villagers lined up to help Carry him, yesterday was Friday and he would have had a lot of prayers said for him as he is always visited on Fridays by many of the villagers, I remember him five times a day in my prayers. #poems - @poetrydrive on Instagram

last days of Jungbusch 👋🏻 . 4 Jahre haben wir hier gewohnt und es toll gefunden. Doch im Laufe der Zeit verändert man sich. Und das Viertel eben auch. Ich werde unseren Balkon und die Aussicht vermissen, bei dem wir nie einen Fernseher brauchten, weil sich unten so viel Leben abspielte. Ich könnte ein Buch voller Geschichten schreiben, was ich in den Jahren beobachtet habe 😉 . Was ich aber nicht vermissen werde sind Nächte, in denen ich um 4 Uhr von Feierlustigen vor unserem Fenster geweckt werde 🤪 . Werdet ihr jetzt etwa erwachsen? . Das werden wir ganz oft gefragt, wenn wir sagen, dass wir wegziehen. Werden wir? Ich weiß es nicht. Aber mit 32 darf man auch mal bisschen erwachsen werden. Da dürfen einen gewisse Dinge stören, die einem mit 22 nichtmal aufgefallen sind. Im Laufe der Zeit verändert man sich. Und das ist gut so. . Tschüss Jungbusch! Today I got to announce an amazing project that myself and many others have been working on for many months, the Divest Canada Coalition. This Coalition is formed of student groups across Canada working together to achieve full fossil fuel divestment from their educational institutions. We also announced an open letter to boards and administrators of educational institutions demanding they take real leadership in the face of the climate crisis by fully divesting all investment funds (e.g. endowment funds) of their institutions from the fossil fuel industry and reinvesting in sustainable and just alternatives by 2025. I could not be more thankful for those who helped me with this project and coalition. I can’t wait to see what we accomplish working together. I recently came across an article in a very popular magazine that advised parents to say things like this when your child is having a tantrum:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -Stop yelling!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -What youre doing is not acceptable!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -Hey, look over there (distract)!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -Why are you crying?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Im sorry but when did saying, Stop yelling! and What youre doing is not acceptable! ever work? Those words, in my opinion, only add fuel to the fire and are often said when we feel out of control and dysregulated. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Im ok with distraction here and there but dont recommend this as your go-to strategy because it teaches children, indirectly, that feelings are scary and need to be avoided. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And often asking Why questions during emotional dysreguation is fruitless. Young children often dont know, or cant verbalize, why theyre feeling the way they do (heck, sometimes this happens to us, too!). Asking that and then not getting a satisfying answer can lead you to feeling more helpless in the moment. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Instead, this is what I recommend we say. Often, silence is more than enough and whats needed to pass through the moment. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And remember, its more about our PRESENCE and MINDSET during these moments, then things we say. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What are your thoughts about this?
