Le street-artiste incarne la maîtrise du talent, l’originalité d’une alchimie composée de culture urbaine et artistique. « Après plus de 20 ans passés dans le Graffiti à peindre à la bombe des murs hauts et longs de plusieurs mètres, le passage à l’espace de la toile n’a pas été facile, je me suis alors lancé un vrai défi. Il m’a fallu découvrir de nouvelles dimensions, la toile et des médiums autres que l’aérosol. Rapidement, j’ai fait des recherches abstraites sur la couleur, puis naturellement avec le temps j’ai introduit du figuratif. Progressivement j’ai commencé à me relâcher et à être moins précis, à être plus dans l’émotion, la matière, l’énergie…J’ai commencé à frapper mes toiles de coups de pinceaux, de projections de peinture associés à des coulures, des tag au fat cap, etc… Je ne recherche plus la perfection du trait, mais plutôt à lui donner du caractère, de la force, du corps. The researchers also that conflict is most likely to involve alpha male gorillas who act as the protectors of their close-knit communities.    The investigation was focused on interactions between 10 groups of mountain gorillas in Rwanda over the course of a year. The experts combined their observations with data collected by the Karisoke Research Center between 2003 and 2015.    The research team found that male gorillas often engaged in aggressive fights to protect their communities. On the other hand, the experts discovered that bonds formed between former group members drastically reduced hostility between the familiar males. Today is #WorldGorillaDay! Here at the Saint Louis Zoo we love our group of bachelor gorillas! We have four Western lowland gorilla males, Jontu, Joe, Nadaya and Bakari. Although large and very strong, gorillas in general are peaceful animals. Our gorilla group typically spends their day eating, foraging, using enrichment, resting, building nests to sleep in and sometimes even playing with each other! Unfortunately, gorillas in the wild are facing more hardship. Habitat destruction, poaching, and disease have really taken a toll on the population numbers. The Saint Louis Zoo has made it a mission to help the conservation of gorillas in the wild. The Saint Louis Zoo Wildcare Institute Center for the Conservation of Congo Apes partners with the Goualougo Triangle Ape Project (GTAP). GTAP not only does great research in learning more about these wild counterparts, but also makes great efforts to keep these populations safe and healthy. They have powerful jaws to help chew through these plants Bakari (15) – Bakari is an excellent nest builder! Gorillas build nests to sleep in each night. Today is World Gorilla Day 🦍 . In the 1980s, on the brink of extinction, only 242 mountain gorillas were left around the Virunga mountains. Today, over 600 individuals call these mountains home and together with Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest population, mountain gorilla numbers have surpassed 1,000 individuals for the first time in almost a century and the IUCN reclassified the species from critically endangered to endangered in 2018. . The Zoo is home to 8 Critically Endangered western lowland gorillas, including HJ, the latest addition to our bachelor group, and baby Angela, who lives with her mother, father, and aunties in our family group. In Africa, gorilla habitat is being destroyed by unsustainable mining for coltan, a mineral used in the manufacture of handheld electronic devices. Recycling electronics responsibly decreases the demand for coltan, thereby reducing mining and keeping toxins out of the environment. When you recycle handheld electronics through our partner ECO-CELL at the L.A. Zoo, a portion of the proceeds go to conservation nonprofits such as Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education (GRACE), which works to safeguard the Grauer’s gorilla, one of the most endangered primates on the planet.
