2012 - Jesse Rejoins KsE...I remember being driven up to this photo shoot a day or so after quietly returning back to the band. It didnt feel real. My mind was racing as to what would happen next. I had an entire album to write and shows booked in the coming weeks. I remember seeing all of them just before we began the shoot and I had a moment of relief. I felt deep down this was the right move, this was meant to be. The laughter captured on this photo is genuine. We all were in such high spirits at the possibility of the future ahead. I know I was and still to this day feel that same excitement the days before a tour starts. Grassroots Day 2 was just as fun. I dont have much footage at the moment, hoping to see videos pop up in the future of outside views of some of my runs. Dialed out some camber in the rear to have better wear on my tires which inturn gave me a bunch of forward bite, rebled the new hydro handbrake and spent the morning hot lapping the car. Participated in the team tandem competition with the OGs @vangaales @jonnyd07 @louren61 and we placed 2nd! It probably helped that they stuffed me at the back of the line haha! Unfortunately my day was cut short due to one too many bangs of the rev limiter and blowing up a rocker. With the help of @chaboibing and @marco.t97, they got the car running and I was able to drive it home at the end of the day! Our dear Rocco passed away last night, peacefully with his family by his side at a hospice in Las Vegas. Some of us were blessed to have a few parting words with him over the last few days and for that Im so grateful. Many people know that I always called him Frank because his name was Frank Hueton back in 1965. Frank was a very sweet kid with really cool hair when we first met in junior high school and we actually brought him into our band because of his hair; he was a horrible guitar player. My father had hired a teacher named Terry Saunders to teach us one song a week and the first thing Terry said to Frank was, You need to play the bass!!! How right he was!!! As a bass player he was totally uniniqe and as a person he was one of a kind. He fought a long fight over the last 20 years and now hes with the Lord and heaven is his home. Ill miss him dearly but I know that hes now at peace and I look forward to seeing him there. To say that Francis Rocco Prestia was a huge part of the Tower of Power sound is a gross understatement. On Monday I had to furlough almost all of them. Most are filing for unemployment, which will only cover a portion of their wages. Ive had the pleasure of building obstacles for several race venues. And let me tell you, these race owners put their heart and soul into these races. Most of these guys and gals have full time jobs and yet still manage to put in countless hours to prepare for these events. Going into build week, I am always fully aware that there will be lots of work and a lot less sleep and thats only from my side of things, which is just the building part. Staying on top of the constant emails and messages that pour in with questions that people have, sourcing out supplies for things like the swag, food and other vendors for race day, organizing things with the volunteers, promoting and marketing and so much more! And that doesnt even include all the extra safety stuff they now have to do to meet their county and states Covid-19 protocols. These guys are absolutely amazing! This week I had the opportunity to help build and set up for @highlanderassault, an awesome local Midwest OCR. I was blessed with 2 AMAZING Clinical Instructors, one an Orthopedic Specialist and the other, a Neuro&Pelvic Health specialist. I not only saw my first EVER pair of cowboy boots & grew a liking towards country music (currently have “Blue Tacoma” by Russel Dickerson on replay) but i also learned a few things: . 𝟭. 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗖𝗧 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦 Take time in listening and getting to know the patient - this builds trust/rapport and makes you feel more relatable to the patient. Help them see that you are also a human who isn’t perfect. Don’t be afraid to be vulnerable and share parts of yourself (what you did this weekend, a story that relates to what they are going through, etc). Opening up to them will encourage them to also open up more & allow you to better address their specific needs . 𝟮. After my first drop off I asked what else I could possibly do or get. Pillows and caffeinated beverages. Many of these amazing men and women are already 5 days in, most with 2 hours a night of sleep under their belt. The other 22 hours they are evacuating people, fighting fires - literally saving lives. Just returned home to Michigan after spending four days in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. No cell phones or distractions surrounded by the most amazing scenery and wildlife I’ve ever seen. As amazing as this beautiful place is, it pales in comparison to the great men I got to share this trip with.
