I’m never quite sure where to begin. The summer has been hot and sticky with grief. And even while the air hangs a little heavier and the days tumble by, the fires that burned at the start of the season have cleared space for a newness that always follows a deep scorch. Black Voices. In this summer of discontent, I believe that my blackness has never been more valuable than it is right now. NEW PRODUCT for #jasminetea lovers at #sunsorganicgarden featured in our IGTV video last week. The base tea is a high mountain green tea from #Zhejiang province. The #teabuds are harvested in early spring (April) and then stored in a cool place until late summer when the best #jasmineflowers are harvested 🌱 #Jasmine flowers start to bloom around May, but the blooms used for premium grades of jasmine tea are not harvested until August - October. The jasmine buds are harvested closed, and at this point, the concentrations of essential oils in the flowers are at their highest. The harvested flowers open at night which is when the scenting process begins. Scenting the tea involves layering the tea between layers of Jasmine flowers in piles up to 20cm high. As the oxidation of the flowers releases heat and fragrance, the tea and flowers are mixed after a few hours to evenly disperse the heat and fragrance. This led us to develop a two-part vessel: an embossed glass jar with a freshness seal that sits inside a cardboard tube to protect the flower from degrading UV rays. We want to give a huge thank you to #PLCprint for helping us design this packaging and for bringing it all to life. This was no small feat and we can’t thank you enough for your commitment and expertise. Also a massive thank you to @emeraldsunca for helping us launch this project and distribute it throughout the state.
