This came up on my Facebook from three years ago.. We finished up the last module of my 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐑𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 on Monday and this photo really jumped out at me as I talked about some of my personal stories to help with the lessons in the course. Here are some things you may or may not have known about me from these four photos. 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟐: I spent five years getting a teaching degree and was one hour into my first day at work and thought “𝘐 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘐’𝘮 𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘢 𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘫𝘰𝘣!” - the seed for my ‘𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐮𝐩 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐥’ analogy was born in that moment. 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟒: I went broke three times trying to start a 1:1 personal training business. This is a photo is me carrying all my equipment to a park so I could train clients (because I couldn’t afford the gym rent anymore). 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟔: Against the wishes of an old mentor, I started this thing called a podcast. As of 2020, it’s on its way to over 4 million downloads and has allowed me to connect with people I never thought possible. 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟕: I got turned down by every publisher I went to with my book and had to self publish it. From the release date, it spent 16 weeks on the Amazon best seller list and has sold nearly 40,000 copies. Take home message. If you keep plugging away, good things will happen.. There will be bad times, but it’s those bad times make the good times feel even sweeter. If you feel lost or you’re struggling right now, keep your head up.. Exactly 4 years ago today my life changed dramatically. One moment I was just a teenager from a small nation who had only started competing as a professional athlete 6 months ago, the next moment I had an Olympic medal. It felt that sudden, I felt so young and naive, that something like this wouldn’t happen to me, not this soon. But I had the most fun out there, I had all of my support team and family in the crowd, and I couldn’t have competed any better. It was the most perfect moment filled with more emotion than I thought was possible. I will always look back on that day with the same emotion, and feel so grateful that I had that opportunity, to compete against the worlds best with no expectation, just pure joy. It was my first Homecoming as a Chamberman, and I will never forget a single minute of that night. Sus primeros pasos no fueron nada sencillos, ella nació con la falta de estructura ósea en sus piernas y sin la mayoría de los huesos en los pies. Fue tanta la impresión de su madre, y del futuro que les aguardaba, que decidió darla en adopción. Jessica fue dejada en un orfanato de Siberia. Fue adoptada por un matrimonio estadounidense a los 13 meses y se trasladaron a Baltimore, en Estados Unidos. A los 18 meses le fueron amputadas ambas piernas porque sufría hemimelia peroneal. Aprendió a caminar con prótesis y desde niña le gustó la natación. También ha practicado otros deportes como gimnasia, baloncesto, patinaje sobre hielo, escalada, ciclismo… Pero se aficionó a la natación y a los 12 años de edad ingresó al escenario internacional en los Juegos Paralímpicos del 2004 en Atenas, donde ganó tres medallas de oro en natación, siendo la más joven del equipo paralímpico de los Estados Unidos. En 2006 tuvo 18 actuaciones mundiales récord. Ganó nueve medallas en el Campeonato Mundial de Natación del Comité Paralímpico Internacional en Durban, Sudáfrica. También obtuvo 5 récords mundiales que la hicieron conocida en el mundo del Deporte Paralímpico y como la Nadadora Discapacitada de la Revista Swimming World. Al día de hoy tiene 22 medallas olímpicas (13 oros, 6 platas y 3 bronces). Jessica ha visitado muchos hospitales para animar a aquellos que por un accidente o una enfermedad se ven desolados. Liebe Triathletinnen und Triathleten, wir bedauern sehr, dass eine Veranstaltung in NRW kurzfristig abgesagt wurde. Das ist für alle Beteiligten und unsere schöne Sportart bitter. Wir bekommen seit der Absage sehr viele Anrufe und auch E-Mails mit Anfragen, ob wir in Ratingen noch Startplätze frei haben, oder ob wir nicht ein oder zwei Starts mehr anberaumen können. Leider haben wir auf all Eure Anfragen und Bitten keine positiven Antworten. So gern wir Euch die Möglichkeit eines schönen Wettkampfs bieten würden, sind wir doch seit Wochen schon ausgebucht. Ihr könnt uns glauben, dass es auch uns sehr leid tut, dass Eure Planungen und Trainingsmühen nicht belohnt werden und in ein Rennen münden, auf das Ihr Euch gefreut habt. Aber unsere Organisation samt aller Genehmigungen und Sicherheitsabsprachen ist abgeschlossen, die Kapazitäten sind mit 1400 Startern komplett ausgeschöpft, auch weil wir in einem Becken schwimmen. Der Zeitrahmen und die Wechselzonen stehen, die Straßensperren samt Einsatz von Polizei und Hilfskräften sind minutiös geplant, der Austausch mit allen Partner und der Stadt ist vollzogen, und all das kann nicht so einfach innerhalb einer Woche umgemodelt werden. Компания «ВнешТрейдСервис ЛТД», официальный партнер мероприятия, выражает свою благодарность организаторам @mostransport , участникам и нашему партнеру прокату @suppoint_strogino сделавшим это событие поистине историческим! В самом центре Москвы в эти выходные более 140 человек приняли участие в первом спортивном фестивале. Одной из приятных новостей стало количество любителей заявившихся на эту гонку – более 100 человек! Вместе они преодолели дистанцию в 4,5 км. На этой дистанции лучшей стала Ольга Раскина @olyaraskina . Лучшие получили награды и сертификаты. Кстати среди медалистов был и наш райдер Андрей Крайтор, который занял первое место в дисциплине Технический спринт. Это была гонка для настоящих профессионалов! Kat won yesterday and had a great race. In her mind she didn’t have any significant problems and it was a smooth.But that’s what makes people like her and others (who will all have a similar story from Sunday) different and why they succeed. I realise more and more that triathlon is a game of perseverance and heres why Sunday was another example: Day before her chain jammed solid in front chainrings and gears didn’t work, my mistake and fixed with a borrowed drill. Swim was shortened to 750, more than halving her advantage on her main rival Power meter wouldn’t turn on when setting up, probably broken by me with the drill 🙄 Got ver cold in swim but mega tuck and kick screaming dive boosted bravado! T1 - her hands were too cold to put gloves on so throws them to save time and stay in the race Gets numb feet from transition run and rear bottle cage caused a near crash on mount (luckily got this on footage) Couldn’t get her feet in the shoes as just too cold Freezing start and regrets kit choices, starts to doubt Gets stopped by traffic at the first turn, falls further behind Fenella Dropped by Fenella on the first climb and already being caught by Nikki - “ffs” Sick in mouth and couldn’t eat to start - thinks “GI issues again?” Almost gets blown off the bike “was 60mm a terrible choice?” I tell her Lucy Hall is 3 mins up causing slight panic. She pushed on trying to catch and drop the other two into head wind only to look back to see Nikki being happily paced Gives up pushing on and hands over to Nikki, settling to letting her dictate the pace Problematic glute becomes “alarmingly sore “ Shoes won’t go on in T2, then run out the wrong way (again on Camera 👌🏻) Had something in the heel of her shoe, “it’s ok I run on my forefoot anyway” Back and legs are alarmingly sore for the first 3km. Hips “crazy tight, Will it settle?” Only had 75% of nutrition and water, “will I fade?” Thinks “Why haven’t I seen Lucy?” I forgot to tell her she went wrong 🤦♂️. The rhythm drums dullly over the water. Like a machine, 20 paddles dive into the water in time. With a frequency of almost 80 beats per minute, the boat of the Thunder Dragons from Bad Säckingen glides through to the finish line at the World Championship race in Szeged and they become world champions - the greatest success in the history of the club. 💦 Part of the team is the world champion Robin Eschbach, who recently registered with us on the platform. The corona virus is stirring up quite a few things in the sports world, including dragon boat racing. The crew and I ventured to Port A for the @surftgsa Texas State Championships and we all left with smiles on our faces...Above winning a State Title, I was voted into the elite group of Tx surfers chosen for the Spirit of Surfing Award...of all the surfers in Tx. It has truly stoked me out each day since. With selections to the Australian Olympic Sprint Team and other teams up for grabs, racing was fierce at the 2020 Australian Canoe Sprint Championships! 👏🇦🇺🏆 Congratulations to the 28 WA sprinters who competed and collectively brought home more than 50 medals! Special congratulations go to @hl.alexis who became national champion in the U18 WK1 200m and WK2 200m with @eleanordisselkoen 🥇🥇. @jaimeroberts90 won the open WK2 200m with Jo Brigden-Jones 🥇 putting her in strong contention for Olympic team selection. Further showcasing WAs strength in the 200m was @jessedeanphillips and @joshkippin who won the MK2 200m, with AKCs @matthew.greed & @nicholas_greed close behind in 2nd place 🥈 CRCCs @timhyde3 and @noah.boldy dominated the U16 male K1 & K2s collecting 4x 🥇 and 6x 🥈 medals between them, while U18 paddler @kylan.j continued to impress as the states sole C1 competitor. ➡️El remero🛶 marplatense Brian Rosso se enteró mediante una respuesta de mail que no lo tendrán en cuenta para integrar la Selección Argentina de Remo. El comunicado se hizo justamente el día que se cumplía la sanción de los seis meses de suspensión que recibió de parte de la Asociación Argentina de Remeros Aficionados cuando lo acusaron por actos de indisciplina, durante una concentración en Tafí del Valle en medio de una situación que nunca terminó de ser clara. Ahora que la pandemia postergó el Sudamericano de remo que iba a ser el torneo clasificatorio a los Juegos Olímpicos de Tokio, la Asociación sigo poniendo excusas para no dejarlo ser parte. Hoy Brian Rosso es el mejor singlista nacional. Sus resultados en los últimos años de selectivo lo avalan. El correo enviado señala que:…”por decisión del Cuerpo Técnico, no lo consideran para formar parte de la Selección Nacional. La resolución fue tratada en la reunión del Consejo Directivo del 9 de septiembre siendo aprobada por unanimidad. Con esta medida, queda más que claro y confirmado que el tema es personal. Que la entidad nacional no permitirá, por lo menos en esta gestión, que Brian Rosso siga representando a la selección argentina y buscará cualquier excusa para excluirlo. Ya le habían sacado sus becas deportivas.
