Yesterday I had the honor of modeling for my first ever underwater photoshoot with the incredible @cherylwalshfineart! It was an amazing experience and I had so much fun. It is definitely a challenge to look fierce while holding your breath, trying to wrangle a giant gown and a sword, and being mostly blind (one of my contact lenses fell out on the first take so I couldn’t see for the rest of the shoot lol). this was for her tarot card series, and I was representing Strength. I was given free reign to create my costume, so I designed and made this Amazon warrior princess/Greek goddess look. Super huge thanks for Cheryl and @jesdru for being so helpful and coaching me through my first time modeling underwater. Little Women is officially open at HCTO! This is such a special show with an exceptional cast and I think it’s a story that we need right now. This is an extremely difficult and scary time in the world, with the threat of a deadly virus as real and dire as ever and a long overdue war on racism and injustice in our country just getting started. And because I am highly aware of these things, this is a very tricky post for me. I know a lot of people don’t agree with the decision to be performing right now. I get it. But I have to say I am so grateful for the professionals at the health department and the wonderful producers and friends I care so much about at the theater who have spent countless hours coming up with an approved, green lit plan to move forward at this time. *We feel safe. Dance proved to be my first love and perhaps, it will be life long. I felt a strange attraction to an unknown way to communicate, being sensitive and empathetic, I believe it gave me a deeper understanding of body language. Her fingers have literally bled for me and @alejo_vietti_costume_design!💙 There are 50+ costume shops in NYC employing hundreds of people, and they are on the brink of permanent closure. These shops and arts workers around the country need us to take action now. In 2017, the 22nd Annual Newport Flower Show transported guests’ imaginations to France, a place of beauty and culture that has inspired artists and gardeners for centuries. Fête Des Fleurs: Paintings and Parterres included luncheon talks by Jeff Leatham, a floral designer who has worked with the Dalai Lama, Oprah Winfrey, Madonna, Chelsea Clinton, Cher and many more; and Dr. Eric T. Haskell, Professor of French Studies & Humanities and Director of the Clark Humanities Museum at Scripps College in California, who shared his vast knowledge on French gardens. And a special surprise guest was legendary fashion icon Iris Apfel, who not only supported the Show but sold some of her jewelry to benefit the Preservation Society.
