Ho avuto modo di rileggerlo in questa quarantena, e anche stavolta ho avuto modo di imparare qualcosa di nuovo. Forse certi dettagli vengono colti solo nel momento in cui abbiamo bisogno di essi. Per questo lo stesso libro riesce ad insegnarci sempre qualcosa di nuovo. Questa volta la parte sul “sapere aspettare” penso sia stata quella più illuminante, quella che ha saputo aiutarmi di più in un momento simile. “Fotografare le Emozioni” penso sia uno di quei libri che ogni artista debba tenere sul comodino, ti dà ispirazione, ti fa emozionare e ti insegna a come scattare: con il cuore. 3 semanas pós parto (parto normal). É impressionante olhar para o meu filho com 22 dias de vida e pensar que ele estava dentro de mim. Nessas 3 semanas pós parto eu não segui nenhuma dieta, não fiz nenhum exercício e não fiz uso de nenhuma cinta. Eu estou fazendo amamentação exclusiva e em livre demanda, então preciso comer bem para produzir leite para o meu filho. Falando em dieta, eu não segui nenhuma dieta durante a gravidez e não fui uma mamãe fitness como muitos esperavam. Eu tentei. Esperei completar as 12 semanas de gestação para iniciar atividade física, pelo fato de serem semanas delicadas com maior risco de perda gestacional. Após esse período ensaiei um início de gravidez ativa, e fui treinar algumas vezes...até que com 15 semanas de gestação eu tive um sangramento, pensei que estava perdendo o meu filho...Nem gosto de lembrar, mas por esse motivo precisei parar e ficar de repouso por ordens médicas. Minha placenta estava marginal e qualquer esforço era arriscado. Fazer atividade física durante a gestação é ótimo, desde que a mulher esteja em perfeitas condições para fazer. Eu que sempre fui ativa, nunca imaginei que comigo aconteceria algo para me impedir de fazer atividade física. Mas enfim, mesmo com todos esses contratempos meu corpo tem se recuperado bem. O útero leva cerca de 45 dias para voltar ao seu tamanho normal e eu ainda estou com 22 dias pós parto, então vamos ver como ficará ao final desse período. Com relação a situação de pandemia de coronavírus, estar em casa com um recém nascido me mantém mentalmente e fisicamente ocupada, mas não seria diferente se nada disso estivesse acontecendo, pois recém nascidos devem estar em casa. Porém o mundo inteiro está sendo afetado e devemos seguir os protocolos para que tudo isso acabe o mais rápido possível. #posparto #newborn - @sayuritorres on Instagram

My mum Is Irish and my dad is Goan. I grew up in a predominantly white area in the UK. In my village my family were the only POC. Again this followed suit in Primary school. In secondary school however there were three asains girls, but still I was the only mixed race girl. To be honest and Im sad to admit this I was ashamed to be Indian. Growing up I was mocked for being hairy and dark, having a name no one could pronounce, eating food that no one had ever heard of. People would ask where I was from, and Id answer, the question would be quickly repeated with emphasis on the FROM. I genuinely dreamed of being blonde with blue eyes. When I went to university I finally began to feel like my look was in fashion. I saw girls getting their nosed pierced, using coconut oil, wearing fake tan, wearing face jewels, practising yoga. Although I felt cool it took me some time to realise. I am unique. My mixed culture is incredible, and that is what makes me and my brothers beautiful. . I love how our mum embraces the vibrant Indian culture, the gold (she loves it), the food, and my dad the potatoes, the wet weather and the incredible green mountain walks😂. It has taken me 26 years. Today is my 29th birthday. ✨ What a year it’s been. For me. For you. For all of us. The climate of our world has been unbelievably heavy this year, and I don’t really know what more to say other than I’m so thankful to be here and I’m so grateful the ones I love are safe. The greatest gift of all. As I get older, my expectations for my birthday become, well, simpler. I don’t have extravagant parties (birthdays during hurricane season don’t really allow for that 🤣), I don’t make plans for every hour of the entire day, and I don’t expect much. They’ve become more internal for me over the years. They’re a way for me to look back on the past year of my life and assess how it’s played out. What did I achieve? Did I let myself have fun? Was I open and did I allow myself to receive? And I think I’ve done a pretty good job this year. It’s no secret my life has changed tremendously since last year. Between a two-month stint in L.A., to a wreck that could have been much worse, to seeking out therapy, writing a tweet that changed my life, quitting old jobs and moving forward... I have grown. I have grown so much. Does my life today look how I pictured it would this time last year? No, it doesn’t... it looks even better. Today I’ll celebrate by spending time with those I love. I’ll take Lucy on walks. I’ll have moments of intentional silence to envision how I’d like the last year of my 20s to go. But mostly, I’ll lean in, let go, and let the day plan itself. Because if there’s one thing I’ve learned this year, it’s that the universe will guide you where you need to go. It will take care of you. All you have to do is let it. 💛 More reflections on my blog this morning.
