NEW DELHI: India on Wednesday successfully test-fired the extended range BrahMos supersonic cruise missile which can hit targets at over 400 kilometre range. Congratulating the team of scientists involved in todays successful test, DRDO chairman Dr G Satheesh Reddy said that this will lead to adding more indigenous content to the supersonic cruise missile. The test-firing was carried out under the PJ-10 project of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), under which the missile was launched with an indigenous booster. The missile was launched from a land-based facility in Odisha. This is the second test-firing of the extended range version of the missile which has an indigenously developed airframe and booster. The BrahMos is a ramjet supersonic cruise missile that can be launched from submarines, ships, fighter jets, or land. Stop........... have you thought about how blessed you are to be here in this moment, on this day? For some reason we may not know why but you are living this life of yours. . 6 years ago today, I was hit by a young girl driving what basically was a tank, who got distracted while she was texting on her phone and came into my lane. She hit me only going 45 miles but pushed my car through 2 lanes of traffic and ended up in the front yard of a sweet old lady! My head hit the drivers side window so hard it knocked me out so I do not remember most of what happened after but I do remember the fireman who was standing at the door trying to get me outta the car. When I came to, he said “wake up honey, you have a lot of livin to do in this world!” From that day to this day I am moving in this world with the knowledge that there is so much more for me to accomplish in this world. When you come to the realization that not every day is promised and you could be living your last, life looks different. Thank you to that fireman who made me wake up to my life. BEST PRACTICE is excited to announce our participation in the 2020 edition of Other Places art fair (OPaf), which was moved to a web-based platform, with a new project conceived and built especially for @otherplacesartfair titled “Ethylene Spring” by San Diego-based artist and designer Matthew Hebert. Other Places art fair will take place September 19 - October 31, 2020, and can be viewed at OPaf.info. The installation “Ethylene Spring” embodies climate change anxiety through an interactive installation riffing on the tripod seat of the Oracle of Delphi housed within the Temple of Apollo. From atop this iconic seat, which straddled a fissure in the earth, the fume enshrouded Pythia would deliver her prophecies to desperate visitors. In “Ethylene Spring,” Hebert asks visitors to take turns ascending the tripod to bathe in the custom scented fog from a machine at its base. While there, they can freely rotate their seat to view the surrounding landscape, all the while hearing a selection of dark prophecies beamed straight to their perch. These weather-related snippets will come from various sources including poetry, cinema, news coverage, and pop music. Contrasted with these somewhat inscrutable excerpts, the other elements of the experience will be rather visceral.
